General Sherman

A Giant Sequoia with the name of General Sherman is believed to be between 2,300 and 2,700 years old.  The 275 foot tall tree, the height of a 27-story building with a trunk wider than a 3-lane highway, is located in the Giant Forest of Sequoia National Park.  While General Sherman is not the tallest or widest tree, it ranks as the largest tree in the world based on the volume of its trunk with measures 52,508 cubic feet.
