Neil Patrick Harris and the rest of the cast of How I Met Your Mother are auctioning off two great prizes in a bid to help raise some much-needed cash for the Waterkeeper Alliance.

The first donation comes from Alyson Hannigan — who convinced the rest of the cast of Mother to donate a walk-on role for an episode airing sometime next season. The winner will be featured as a background actor in a scene or scenes of the producers choosing. Current bids are at about $2,700 — with six days left to go.

Next, Neil Patrick Harris — who we loved from Joss Whedon’s internet sensation Dr. Horrible — is offering up dinner for four with him at The Magic Castle in LA. From the site, “The world famous Magic Castle in Hollywood will play host to a delightful dinner filled with magic and mystery. Dinner is served in an atmosphere of Victorian elegance where you will enjoy food, magic and the company of Neil Patrick Harris!” Currently, the bidding is a low $1,800. With six days left, that should give you plenty of time to organize four friends and max the hell out of your credit cards. Hey, at least it’s all for a good cause.

Alyson Hannigan Drops Vegan Diet For Pregnancy

Alyson Hannigan has revealed that geting pregnant made her crave meat — and ultimately drop her vegan lifestyle. “I basically went from being a vegan to… now it’s meat and cheese — and ginger ale!” she said at an event for her TV show, How I Met Your Mother. “Ginger ale, I love. Apparently, my mom craved ginger ale when she was pregnant with me! Maybe it’s a hereditary thing. But, yeah, I didn’t eat any meat or cheese before – now I have to.”

We covered other pregnancy-related veg shifts here on the ‘razz — from Jennifer Connelly to singer Carnie Wilson. As far as I can tell, there are no health-related issues with continuing a vegan diet during pregnancy. It seems Hannigan’s intentions for going vegan were probably related more to health than to animal activism. I’ve read some accounts of other vegan moms going through the same thing — but stopping short of giving in to their cravings simple because of the animal issue.

Anyone else experience something similar?
