Love Twitter? Like helping out pets in need of a good home? Want to be just like Kevin Nealon? No? How about Alyssa Milano? Kind of? Cool.

Celebrities from Milano to Nealon to David Cook to Care Bears On Fire (I have absolutely no idea…) have been taking advantage of a new online service from Adopt-A-Pet that allows you to “tweet” the word about adoptable pets in shelters. “TwitterACritter is a fun, easy way for people to actively save the life of a shelter pet, even if they can’t adopt one themselves or afford to donate,” says Abbie Moore, executive director of Adopt-a-Pet. “Homeless pets are powerless to promote themselves to potential adopters, so it’s up to those of us who love animals to lend a hand, and a set of thumbs, and tweet about them. In these difficult economic times, when so many pets are being relinquished to shelters, they need our help more than ever.”

Basically, this service works in the same way that the “Retweet” button in the upper left-hand corner of this posts works. Each animal has a little Twitter link that you can hit to spread the word about their page — and hopefully, hook up with a new family. Alyssa Milano has hooked up with Take Part to help promote healthy and safe eating for Americans through a new PSA. The effort appears to be part of the media campaign to help raise awareness for the new food documentary Food, INC. As described on the website, the film “lifts the veil on our nation’s food industry, exposing the highly mechanized underbelly that has been hidden from the American consumer with the consent of our government’s regulatory agencies, USDA and FDA.” Check out the PSA below:

Orlando Bloom’s Inner Child Blossoms For UNICEF

This handsome hollywood gent is joining a long lineage of Hollywood supporters including Lucy Lieu, Sarah Jessica Parker, and Alyssa Milano in supporting UNICEF as a goodwill ambassador. Orlando Bloom recently took part in a four day UNICEF-supported visit to Nepal where he visited several programs for children in the western districts of Kaski and Chitwan.

According to reports:

In Pokhara village, Mr. Bloom mingled with over three dozen blind girls and boys. He also played a small role in a mini-drama the children were recording that day for the UNICEF-supported radio programme ‘Saathi Sanga Manka Kura’ (Chatting with My Best Friend).

Looks like a friendly game of balloons and bubbles at a Himalayan village brought out Orlando’s inner child, and probably a few smiles from some children in the process.
