You know here on the Razz we sure love to dish about all the amazing star-studded green events happening in America — but I think it’s about time we showed India some love too!

On December 7th, a slew of legendary musicians will come together to celebrate Live Earth India — an initiative to help raise awareness and offer solutions to the world’s climate crisis!

Joining Grammy-winners Bon Jovi and Live Earth India spokesperson and actor, Amitabh Bachchan is a list of global superstars including Roger Waters, will.i.am, Anoushka Shankar, Shiamak Davar, Farhan Akhtar, Arjun Rampal, Purab Kohli, Shaan and many more! 

Tickets are already on sale and the concert will also be broadcast live from the Andheri Sports Complex in Mumbai on Star TV and Big FM radio.

NO WORRIES! You can register to host your own Friends of Live Earth event and receive access to a special social networking site, where you can share ideas, ask and answer questions, support one another’s events, and share photos and stories afterward. I’m totally there!

With more than 1.6 billion people on planet earth lacking access to electricity, the United Nations is teaming up with Bollywood to help bring those numbers down. In a new campaign called ‘Light A Billion Lives’, the UN’s climate panel is working to raise money that will generate power for 100 villages in Asia and Africa. Naturally, they’ve enlisted the support of some Bollywood celebrities to help raise awareness. From the article,

“Bollywood icon Amitabh Bachchan and several other celebrities from the Indian film industry are involved in the ‘Light A Billion Lives’ campaign, which aims to provide solar lanterns in villages spread across nine countries. Bachchan, along with son Abhishek and daughter-in-law Aishwarya and others like Preity Zinta, will raise money and work for the campaign initiated by The Energy and Resources Institute (TERI) in India during their upcoming concert tour in North America and Europe.”

Back in January, actor Tom Hanks auctioned off some autographed solar-powered radios that were also headed to villages in need. Great to see that this latest campaign will address lighting as well.
