Amy Winehouse To Buy Farmhouse, O.D. On Country Living

Hide the Meade!

Filed under: buildings and construction, cars-houses — Michael Andre d'Estries @ 11:54 am

Look out English countryside! Amy Winehouse is taking her circus of a life and embedding it in a sleepy village in Suffolk.

The troubled singer has decided that a little fresh air would do her some good (we’re with her on that) and has laid down $1.3 million on a 150 year-old farmhouse on three acres. The property, which is located about an hour and a half from London (giving her plenty of time to sober up on the drive home), boasts a seven bedroom home with three sitting rooms and a conservatory. There are also stables and a garage for five cars.

A source told The Sun, “Amy has been looking for something in the area — and this particular place really is the ideal location. It is a really quiet, hidden spot where she would be away from the chaos of her life in London and could concentrate properly on getting her life back on track again.”

Ah, Mother Nature is indeed a powerful rehab center. We wish her luck in shaping things up. In the meantime, hide your liquor.

Jade Jagger Dances to a Green Tune

Filed under: business, music — sara @ 9:07 am

Jade Jagger, model daughter to Rolling Stones crooner Mick Jagger, likes to get her groove on where it’s green. Surya, a club she helped launch in 2009, is the world’s first ecological club. With its wind turbine and power-generating dance floor, it’s no wonder Jagger likes to shake it at the King’s Cross club.

“Jade is on the same page as us,” says Dr. Earth, the club’s owner. And she’s not alone. Other Surya fans have included Amy Winehouse and Kate Moss. Rock on, chicas.

Winehouse And Kate Moss To Attend Opening Of Eco Dance Club?

Filed under: events: uk, music — Michael Andre d'Estries @ 4:43 pm

Back in march, it was rumored that troubled singer Amy Winehouse was banking $700,000 to sing at the grand opening of a new eco-nightclub in Rotterdam, Netherlands. That, just like everything else tied to the singer’s name, apparently fell through. Now, however, the Wino is being tied to the opening of yet another eco-nightclub — this time in London. We don’t expect her to sing — who does these days? But she will be sharing company with Supermodel Kate Moss, Conservative Party leader David Cameron, and London Mayor Boris Johnson at what’s expected to be a star-studded grand opening.

Just like the club in the Netherlands, this one (called Surya - Sanskrit for Sun God) features a dancefloor that uses the concept of piezoelectricity to generate power. Basically, the more dancers feel the beat and shift their weight, the more electricity is created. Organizers estimate that a good crowd out there breaking it down to something like “Baby Got Back” will generate almost 60% of the club’s energy needs. Coldplay will not be allowed.

The bathrooms have air flush, waterless urinals and low flush toilets and the club will recycle glass, metal, plastic and paper products used in its bar. The site also has its own wind turbine and solar energy system — something that will provide the energy needs of 14 to 20 local residents, as well as the business. “We are the first free energy-donating business in the world,” said owner Andrew Charalambous.

Amy Winehouse Set To Rock Out In Human-Powered Nightclub

Filed under: music — Michael Andre d'Estries @ 10:39 am

winehouse1.jpgWhat’s better than urine, human sweat, and Amy Winehouse? Rarely anything! Unless of course, it’s Amy Winehouse causing the sweat, which increases the urine, and ultimately helps power a nightclub! Go team!

Reports are streaming in that the less-than-healthy Winehouse has signed on to sing at the September opening night of Watt club in Rotterdam, Netherlands. As one source explained, “The energy will come from urine and sweat from the visitors. Toilets will be flushed by rainwater.”

Basically, the entire dance floor will be one large energy-generating system. When the music starts to rock, vibrations from people jumping and grooving will create electric currents to charge a battery or other devices. Granted, I’m under the impression that this probably won’t be enough to make the entire club energy independent, but it certainly is a fantastic use of human power.

Back to Winehouse — don’t expect her to be christening this club because she’s into the environment. There’s also a ridiculous paycheck on the table for her services in the amount of $700,000. Granted, unless you have Winehouse stapled to the stage, it’s almost a given that some “crisis” will cancel her performance at the last minute. Watt owner Aryan Tieleman thinks otherwise saying, “It’s as good as certain.” Yea, ok. Pour us an organic beer, Aryan, and we’ll tell you another one.

Amy WineHouse Gets Naked For Charity

Filed under: campaigns — Michael Andre d'Estries @ 9:05 am

winehouse2.jpgYes, Amy Winehouse is a bit off the deep end when it comes to her personal life, but the girl’s got a voice in her that’s unlike any other I’ve heard. Still, everytime I see her it looks like she’s just gotten attacked by deranged makeup artist. But, let’s talk about nudity.

Winehouse has decided to bare all (PG-13 style) for photographer Carolyn Djangoly to help raise awareness for breast cancer. She joins other names such as Singer Sade and actress Helena Bonham Carter for the campaign. Much like the odd Michael Botlon/naked Nicollette Sheridan ad that somehow raised money for young boys, we’re perplexed over the message of this one. Still, if you’re keen to see Winehouse in her birthday suit, click more below.

The auction is going live on eBay tonight at 7pm and will help raise funds for the Lavender Trust charity- a group supporting women suffering with breast cancer. All the dresses will be sold on eBay at three-day intervals until the release of the film.

Many of the donations are well known red carpet dresses, and straight off the backs of people like Mariah Carey, Geri Halliwell, Thandie Newton, Naomi Campbell and Heidi Klum

Obviously, the auction comes just in time for the release of Katherine Heigl’s latest film, 27 Dresses, which will hit nationwide March 27th (insert obvious plug here).

So if you just gotta, gotta, gotta dress like a star and want to help a super neat charity, visit the 27 Dresses Celebrity Dress Auction homepage and find out more.
