Wow. That’s all I have to say. Wow!

Arnold Schwarzenegger recently vetoed a California legislative finance bill and informed the members of the California State Assembly of his decision with this loaded note.

Schwarzenegger has a history of battling with the state legislature and we can’t help but wonder if this happy “accident” is really an accident at all. Is the governor cleverer than we thought? Chime in and share your thoughts!

We’re not sure what the basis for the ceremony was, but Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger recently honored Ed Begley Jr. for his green living. Commenting from his Twitter account, Schwarzenegger wrote, “Surprised @edbegleyjr w/ a special award – he’s the king of practicing what he preaches about going green.” The Governor then linked to a low-quality video of the ceremony; which feels about right considering the budget crisis the state is currently weathering. Gawker is whispering that Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger has been quietly attempting to return his all-electric Tesla Roadster for several months now. Apparently, the company has been keeping the request all hush-hush for fears that it might throw dark clouds of publicity over its troubled financial situation. Obviously, this has got to be embarrassing for Schwarzenegger as well — the guy has included Tesla’s vision and product as examples of needed green tech in several of his speeches. So why is he so unhappy? From the article,

“Built on a Lotus Elise body, the car is not easy to get in and out of, especially for someone with the former bodybuilder’s robust frame. “He’s more of a Hummer guy,” one tipster tells us.”

While the Hummer is certainly a Schwarzenegger favorite, it’s not his current day-to-day vehicle of choice. That would be the 2009 Dodge Challenger Hemi — of which the Governor was spotted driving once again this past Monday. In fact, we can’t ever remember seeing Arnold in his Tesla in public; a shame considering the Challenger gets a depressing 13MPG and does nothing to add to his green cred.

Alas, if Tesla doesn’t take the car back, there’s always Craig’s List.

“The speculation resurfaced this week in the Wall Street Journal in a piece by Keith Johnson, lead writer for the paper’s environment blog, who cited the California governor’s impressive record on green policy, from support for renewable energy to running one of his Hummers on biofuel.”

“Obama and Schwarzenegger also oppose increased offshore drilling and they share targets on reducing emissions, an area where California has led despite opposition from the Bush administration. Back in May, Schwarzenegger even issued a press release praising Obama for introducing a national version of California’s low carbon fuel standard.”

Of course, we all know how inconsistent Schwarzenegger has been in supporting green policies, but not backing them up personally. The private jet flights several times a week, the inefficient cars, etc. But with California making serious inroads towards a more sustainable energy infrastructure, perhaps someone like Schwarzenegger is just what the country needs. If so, it would continue the impressive rise in political power for the former actor.

Just days after California Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger spoke at the 2008 Solar Power International conference in San Diego, Schwarzenegger appeared at the Staples Center to commemorate the venue’s new 1,727-panel rooftop solar array.  Despite having some less-than-green habits in his personal life, Gov. Schwarzenegger has been a vocal supporter of solar energy, enthusiastically championing the industry at every opportunity.

Gov. Schwarzenegger smiled and posed with the Staples center general manager and the CEOs of AEG and Solar Power Inc., the two companies who worked together to install the photovoltaic panels. The rooftop array will provide environmental offsets for the next 25 years, including the elimination of 10,000 tons of CO2.

As the last panel was put in place, Gov. Schwarzenegger said, “Everyone these days talks about some states that are red, other states that are blue, we here in California are more interested in building a green state. That is what this is all about here today. The outcome of the Celtics and Lakers would have been different if we had these solar panels two years ago!”

A day after he was caught driving around LA in a 13mpg Dodge Challenger

“You know something’s going on when Congress gets involved,” he continued. “I was so happy that they finally got their act together in Washington. … It’s about time and it will be great for the industry and great for the nation. When you look on the map, we’re [California] a small place, but when it comes to the influence that we have, we’re more like a continent. We’re going full speed ahead and showing the country how it’s done.”

Schwarzenegger championed the solar industry, proclaiming that it cannot be stopped and that one day, he hopes ever warehouse roof has photovoltaic panels. His enthusiasm was so great, that he said it won’t be long before he returns driving a “solar-powered Hummer.” Ugh.

Arnold — before we talk about that Hummer, can you please do something about the extensive private jet travel and choice in road transportation?

At a climate change meeting in June, Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger said, “America is so addicted to oil it will take us years to wean ourselves from it, and to look for new ways to feed our addiction is not the answer.”

Well, looks like he’s found some new ways to revel in that addiction with the gas-guzzling Dodge Challenger. ‘Tis is the second time he’s been spotted cruising town in the 13mpg vehicle.  This from a guy who told ABC’s George Stephanopoulous that he would consider accepting a position as Barack Obama’s Energy Czar.

Lame.

It’s common knowledge that humans need only four things to survive: food, water, air and Ecorazzi. While Ecorazzi is deliciously plentiful, the other 3 seem to be dwindling, dwindling, dwindling.

The governator of California, Arnold Schwarzenegger, is preparing for harsh times ahead by forming a “water bank” for the year 2009. Essentially the water bank system will allow California to purchase H20 from local agencies and farmers upstream of the delta and make it available for sale to public and private water systems in the southern parts of the state.

Arnold said: “While we are taking action to address the state’s drought situation, there remains an urgent need for Californians to step up conservation efforts and for the legislature to pass a comprehensive water plan that will ensure California has the water it needs to keep our economy strong and our people working,”

California is already experiencing a drought and Arnold has declared nine counties in its Central Valley to be in a state of emergency after two years of below-average rainfall. So grab your aqua now, kids. This stuff is going fast!

To celebrate the Conference Arnold hosted a Green Gala for participants and friends at the famous movie studio. Rob Lowe and Tom Arnold are a couple friends who turned out to support their good buddy.

Arnold discussed why he wanted to host this environmental evening with the Governors, “The night is just a little celebration…I’m very proud of my past profession, being in the movies, and this is where we shot several of the movies and always had a great time.” He then remind the press that the Conference and working on climate change are what’s really important, not the party.
