Well, it’s for day-skiing only, but the actor owns a day lodge and apparently the rights to skiing on Solider Mountain in central Idaho. Earlier this year, an accidental fire destroyed the lodge and now Willis is getting ready to start rebuilding. We’re happy to report that he’s integrating some nice passive solar designs into the new construction. From the article,

“Like the old lodge, a Fairfield landmark, the new one will have a grill and kitchen area, dining area, and lounge. Unlike the old, the new building will feature restrooms, as well as a ski rental shop, ski school and ticket booth, which were previously in separate structures. Outdoor restrooms for skiers will remain. The lodge will have a Western design, with large windows facing the ski hill to maximize solar gain and views. The deck is planned to be pavers rather than wooden planks, which will improve traction for those walking in ski boots and be easier to maintain.”

And well….that’s all I’ve got. But now you know something new about Bruce Willis. Just to add to the trivia, according to Wikipedia, the 54-year-old was once a private investigator (among other jobs) before becoming an actor. You’re welcome.

For those of you that could barely get through Thanksgiving dinner without wondering if Bruce Willis was going to resolve his dispute with Green Rubber Global, we’ve got good news.

As previously reported, Wilis decided to sue the company after plans to go ahead with the non-toxic and recyclable rubber were put on hold due to the weak global economy. The actor immediately wanted his $2 million investment back — but received only about $1.1 million. The lawsuit sought the remaining $900,000.

Now, it appears that the dispute has been settled — with Willis deciding to remain vested in the company. “Having resolved the matter, I will continue to maintain a shareholding position in the company and I wish the company, the directors and my fellow shareholders the very best for the future,” Willis said in a statement. “I continue to believe in the green rubber technology and the vast potential it holds for the environment,” he added.

Hmm…I wonder what type of deal was made to bury this problem quick? Either way, its good to see Willis remaining on board to see this promising tech to fruition. Check out the official site for more information.

Bruce Willis is suing mad over a Malaysian company’s failure to return $900,000 of the money he invested in an eco-friendly rubber venture.
Bruce Willis is suing mad over a Malaysian company’s failure to return $900,000 of the money he invested in an eco-friendly rubber venture. Willis had poured $2 million into a company that was developing a non-toxic and recyclable rubber, and the project was put on hold recently due to the weak global economy.

According to court papers filed in Los Angeles, Willis’ agreement to invest in Green Rubber Global had a clause wherein he could get a full refund of his money within a specified period of time. He exercised that option on March 17th, but only got $1.1 million back.

It sounds like he got suckered, actually – the company had initially told him that Al Gore and Mel Gibson had also invested in the green rubber project, which turned out to be untrue. [Correction: Gibson did invest in the company, as we've written about previously. However, apparently, he did not invest in another firm as was said by company officials called Elastomer Technologies Ltd.] In his complaint, Willis says Green Rubber Global has given him excuse after excuse as to why they can’t pay him yet.

Hopefully he’ll get his money back ASAP. We need people to keep on investing in green projects even through this economic downturn, and stories like this don’t exactly inspire people to part with their hard-earned money.

Last night in San Francisco, an A-list crowd gathered to honor the late actor and help bring in the green during an annual benefit for Newman’s charity camp, The Painted Turtle, for children with life-threatening illnesses.

Over 2,500 people showed up, including Julia Roberts, Tom Hanks, Jack Nicholson, Danny Glover, Warren Beatty, Annette Bening, Billy Crystal, Sean Penn, Casey Affleck, Joaquin Phoenix, Bruce Willis, Danny DeVito, Bonnie Raitt and Rita Wilson.

In a pre-recorded message just prior to his death on September 26th, Newman talked to the crowd about his camps. “What I was trying to do was acknowledge luck,” Newman said in the clip, which was narrated by Jack Nicholson. “If you acknowledge it, you have to do something about it—something for the less fortunate.”

Said a source to the British newspaper, the Mail on Sunday, “Demi and Ashton were actually building houses with tin roofs and schlepping (moving) breeze blocks in the midday sun. Ashton’s father is a carpenter so he has some experience.”

Now if only more Hollywood parents would teach service and volunteerism to their children. That way young Hollywood could do community service on their own before it’s mandated by a court.
