Will Charlize Theron Get Naked For PETA?

Filed under: animals, campaigns, green and famous, thegreenpicture — parrish @ 5:45 am

The answer is maybe.

Here at Ecorazzi we make a valiant effort to keep you up to date on the latest “naked celebrity ala PETA” news. Most recently, Jenna Jameson encouraged people to pleather themselves (get it) to help promote fake leather. Well now Jenna is putting some porn star pressure on Charlize Theron to get naked!

Jameson said: “It would be amazing if Charlize Theron did one of our ‘Go naked’campaigns. I saw her just the other day and she just blew me away. Charlize is so sexy - I would totally love for her to go naked. I’d die for that.”

Could it happen? We know that Theron is a humanitarian, environmentalist and an overall green lover, but does she have the guts to bear it all for the animals? Only time will tell!

Charlize Theron Talks About South Africa Visit On Oprah

Filed under: campaigns — michael @ 8:30 am

theron.jpgAs part of Oprah Winfrey’s Angel Network, actress Charlize Theron recently visited her native South Africa to check out the mobile AIDS testing and counselling clinic her donations had created. Yesterday, on Oprah, Theron presented a video of her time spent in Kwazulu-Natal and chatted about the lasting impression the experience had on her.

“She says, ‘To see kids be able to talk that way with each other, with an adult, with a counsellor, that never happened when I grew up in this country. It’s hard because part of me feels incredibly blessed in my life and then you come here and you see people struggling, and then you see this beautiful thing which is the spirit of these people and how resilient they are and that’s the miracle.’”

Theron chatted with the kids, handed out gift bags, and assisted with the AIDS testing. The experience left her feeling grateful for the life she has, and even more determined to give back in return. She told Oprah, “Those kids have a 50 percent chance of contracting HIV and AIDS and dying from it, and that could have been my life.”

5th Annual Global Green Pre-Oscar Bash To Feature Michelle Branch

Filed under: events: la, film-tv, movies — michael @ 11:41 am

preoscar.jpgIt’s that time of year again.

While the warm-up act that generally is considered the Golden Globes never showed, we’re all waiting with sick anticipation for the 2008 Academy Awards. Regardless of how the writers’ strike impacts things, there for sure will be plenty of alternative parties to enjoy. First and foremost on our radar is the 5th Annual Global Green USA Pre-Oscar Party.

As with previous years, the event promotes “smart solutions to global warming”. Proceeds raised go towards Global Green’s climate initiatives and also their current main focus, the green rebuilding of New Orleans. Last year, Maroon 5 was the headlining act. This time ’round, Michelle Branch will be entertaining, as well as some “surprise musical guest” not yet announced.

This party is one of the most star-studded in attendance during Oscar week. Of course, it helps to have some of the top A-listers on your Los Angeles committee. These include Orlando Bloom, Kate Bosworth, Penelope Cruz, Leonardo DiCaprio, David Duchovny, Salma Hayek, Edward Norton, and Charlize Theron.

Tickets are limited, but that doesn’t mean you can’t register now and enjoy the fun. $250 is the starting price for general admission — while $5K will get you “green carpet” access and entrance to the Patron Lounge. Remember, this is all for a great cause.

As always, we’ve no guarantees that any of the above celebrities will be in attendance. If previous years are any indication, however, you can expect to have one hell of a good time.

Celebrities Hit The Green Carpet With Movies Rock

Filed under: events, events: la, film-tv, green and famous, music, transport — parrish @ 11:41 am

yobo.jpgIs Chevrolet making Hollywood’s elite a little gassy? Looks like it! On December 2nd, the Kodak Theater in L.A will be receiving a eco-facelift as they host the Movies Rock event- a two hour star-studded bonanza celebrating the historic ties between music and film. Why in the world should you care? BECAUSE THEY’RE DOING IT GREEN STYLE BABY!!! Sorry, I get excited! This year, celebrities such as Beyonce, Kate Hudson, Carrie Underwood, Harrison Ford and Charlize Theron will be pulling up in a new line of automobiles that promote Chevy’s recent commitment to a “Gas-Friendly to Gas-Free” initiative.

Oh, but it gets better…much, much better. Instead of the same old red carpet (boring) entrance with Joan and Melissa Rivers screaming their face off (literally, Joan River’s face is falling off), Movies Rock is taking it to the next level-the green level. Conde Nast Media Group- a powerhouse in publishing and a Movies Rock sponsor- will be making a $25,000 donation to various environmental causes and will provide a 100 percent recycled green carpet (literally, the color green) for all of those fine famous feet to trample upon.

So in the spirit of Movies Rock I’ll close with that famous line: “I drove my Chevy to the levee, but the levee ran dry.” Well if Chevy keeps this up and helps to reduce on global warming, maybe next time that levee won’t be so damn dry. Keep it mean. Keep it clean. Keep it green! The television special will air later next week on CBS.
