According to the duo: 

“This pioneering, controversial and hilarious film follows PATH founder Kelly Overton, an overachieving activist who has degrees from Harvard, Tulane, Columbia and UMASS, as he attempts to return his diplomas and get his tuition refunded in an effort to bring attention to the dangerous and wasteful biomedical research being done at the universities.”

At the event there will be delicious food from 4 Course Vegan, Candle Cafe, Vegan Treats Bakery, Tuthilltown Spirits and Blackwell’s Organic Gelato and plenty of special guests, including: Rue McClanahan, Ally Sheedy, Princess Superstar, Jane Velez-Mitchell, Chloé Jo Berman, Alex Jamieson and many more!

News from out west just blew in about an awesome new series celebrating one of our very favorite things: charities and the celebrities who are obsessed with them!

The show is called Breaking Bread and is a 12-episode series of privately hosted dinner parties where celebrities get a chance to talk about their favorite cause.  The latest one touched on an issue that just so happens to be pretty near and dear to my heart: veganism! 

The dinner was hosted by GirlieGirlArmy general Chloé Jo Berman and featured Meredith Salenger, Corey and Susie Feldman, Persia White, John Joseph, Mickey Madden, Emily Deschanel, Marilu Henner, Mariel Hemingway, Gene Baur, Victoria Moran, Rory Freedman and Laban Pheidias. 

Sounds like a hell of a party, right?

No word yet and when the show will air, but you better believe we’re gonna promote the eff out of it when we get the details. So sit tight, keep munching on those tofu and veggies and stay tuned!

I almost missed this — but Ethical Style has Chloé Jo Berman rocking out the pages of their latest issue. The vegan beauty dishes on everything from her Girlie Girl Army empire to recycling to why vegan dresses need to sexed up. Check out some highlights below:

Can you tell us a little about Girlie Girl Army and what inspired you to create it?

GirlieGirl Army is “A Glamazon’s Guide to the Green Life.” It’s for fabulous girls (and guys) who care about being kind to Mama Earth and all her critters, too.

When I founded this site many years ago, there were few resources for people who wanted to live ethically AND fabulously. I knew hemp wasn’t my bag (unless it was on a Stella McCartney clutch), and I wanted to provide resources for other ladies of glamour who wanted tips on ethical (and animal-free) style, random bits of funny nonsense, and living tips — from what vitamins are best for your body type to DIY’ing your own cleaning products.

Okay, obligatory shoes and accessories question! Any favorites?

Shoes: I’m an Olsen Haus devotee. I rarely wear anything but. They are uber-stylish, totally eco-friendly, and vegan (so no animals have to die for me to look gorgina!). I also really like Charmone, Beyond Skin, and Stella McCartney shoes… but for the most part I’m rarely seen without my Olsen Haus!

For bags, I heart me some Matt & Nat, but I also rock some Crystalyn Kae and Vegan Queen.

With Earth Day literally hours away, celebrity and common folk alike are spending their days dreaming up the perfect way to celebrate Mama Earth’s favorite holiday.

Rory: First stop: trapeze school on the Santa Monica pier! It’s one version of man-made fun that doesn’t leave any carbon footprint. You swing around in the air confronting your fear of heights and bodily harm. It’s an amazing workout where you get to be outside, enjoy the fresh air, see the ocean, feel young, and get manhandled by hot guys. When we’re done playing Circus of the Stars, we can go stuff our faces at Golden Mean Cafe, the new vegan spot in Santa Monica that’s all the buzz.

Emily Deschanel: Ooh I can’t wait! I’ve been dying to do trapeze school, and I haven’t been to that restaurant yet!! You know we both love vegan food!!! 

I’m not sure about trapeze school, but I’ll totally meet you for dinner!

“Here’s the thing: women are so squeamish in general about blood and guts and war, and yet we’re wearing the skins of another being on our person. It’s so incongruous! And so when we look at lines like olsen Haus and we see our options: stylish, beautiful, elegant, just matches everything, but also are fashion forward — there’s no question as to making the switch.”

Incongruous? Good word, Chloé!

I hate going to the doctor! Luckily, I’m a pretty healthy dude (see also: vegan superhero) and have only been twice in the last 4 years. But still, the thought of sitting on a cold examining table and being not listened to for 3-5 minutes makes me shiver with frustration. Why oh why, I ask, can’t all doctors be like the rockstars at Physicians Committee For Responsible Medicine?????!!!!!

You see, last night I had the chance to attend a benefit for PCRM at Peter and Mary Max’s lovely midtown studio and left actually wishing that I hung out with M.D’s more! 

The event was absolutely lovely with Morgan Spurlock, Moby, Dan Piraro, Dreama Walker and many more well-known figures in attendance. Of course we also hung out with some of our favorite regular do-gooders like Chloé Jo Berman, Joshua Katcher, Kris Carr and Victoria Moran. 

And how could we not spend some time with Dr. Neal Barnard – the founder of PCRM who recently sat down with Ecorazzi for an exclusive interview?

While munching on delicious chow from Bonobo’s, 4-Course Vegan and Candle 79, the PCRM crew spoke about their continued progress and optimistic outlook for the future. Does it really get any better than that?

Farm Sanctuary is kind of like that gift that keeps on giving. I mean seriously, how can you not leave these guys?! As the nations leading animal rescue organization, Farm Sanctuary strives to see a world where the violence that animal agriculture inflicts upon people, animals and the environment has ended, and where instead we exercise values of compassion.

Last night Ecorazzi had the honor of attending the organizations Winter Wonderland for the Animals event and catching up with a few of our favorite Hollywood do-gooders. The evening was held at the beautiful Art Directors Club in midtown Manhattan and was jam packed with New York’s most compassionate crowd. 

Upon arrival we made our way to the press area and said hello to Corey and Susie Feldman, Jennifer Coolidge, Daniella Sea and many more. Of course the evening wouldn’t be complete without a little face time with Alison Becker, Loretta Swit, Chloe Jo Berman, Victoria Moran, Karen Dawn and Joshua Katcher. We also spotted Ally Sheedy, Tatum O’Neal, Peter and Mary Max and Princess Superstar! 

After all that celebrity chatting we were STARVING and so we headed on over to the beautiful array of all vegan nosh, provided by some of New York’s hottest restaurants. Truthfully, everything we tasted was out of this world, but a few of our personal favorites were Dr. Cow’s all raw vegan cheese (order this right now, it will change your life), Candle 79’s Seitan Chimichurri and Lula’s Peanut-Butter Fudge Ice Cream! A-FRIGIN-MAZING!!!

The evening closed with a lively auction to help raise money for all of Farm Sancutary’s important work and a speech by co-founder, Gene Baur! Oh and we have some GREAT news!! Staring next Monday, Ecorazzi will be bringing you six full days of Farm Sanctuary Exclusive interviews with the parties hottest stars! That’s what I’m talking about!
