Applegate has started an online petition for the now defunct show and even reached out to fans on Twitter.  She wrote: “I want 10,000 signatures by Monday. Am I being greedy?” 

 We don’t think so!

Christina has been a longtime supporter of green, animal and peace-seeking causes. Remember last year when we  featured her important work with PETA to help promote the fur-free lifstyle? Awesome, right?

While sometimes we environmental folks get a bad rap for being grumpy, when it comes to supporting our own, we’re pure gold!

Applegate will serve as the 2009 Ambassador for Lee National Denim Day — one of the country’s largest single-day fundraisers for breast cancer

Christina is asking companies to get casual for the cause and encourage their employees to wear jeans to work on Friday, October 2 — in exchange for a $5 donation. Sounds like a fair trade to me! 

About the campaign, the Samantha Who? star said: 

“Lee National Denim Day is such an effective grassroots campaign and its importance has become even more real to me in this past year. By joining together on October 2, we can raise millions to support breast cancer research. It’s so simple and so powerful. I truly believe that events like this help save lives.”

The holidays are quickly approaching and it’s time to start thinking about what you’re gonna bring to Aunt Sally’s holiday dinner. Sure you could just pass on the turkey and eat when you get home, but why not bring something totally amazing that will make all your family go, “Wow! Vegan food is awesome!!”

Christina Applegate, a longtime vegetarian and PETA supporter, has just recently shared her delicious vegan truffle recipe with the world and we think it’s pretty awesome. The secret to this recipe is the vegan cream cheese — which nowadays you can find just about anywhere!  

3 cups powdered sugar
1-8 oz. vegan cream cheese, softened
1 ½ tsp. vanilla
Ground nuts, unsweetened cocoa or toasted flaked coconut
12 oz. organic semi-sweet chocolate, melted in a double boiler or on the lowest power in the microwave, stirred frequently.

1. Beat the “cream cheese” until smooth. Gradually add the powdered sugar, beating until well-blended.
2. Add the melted chocolate and vanilla and mix well. Refrigerate for about 1 hour.
3. Shape into 1-inch balls and roll in the nuts, cocoa or coconut. Chill in the refrigerator.
Makes about 5 dozen truffles.

“I learned how to do this when I was about six, and then, for some reason, every time I get a ribbon in my hand, I start making these roses, and something I did in the hospital was make hundreds of these roses. Then I taught everyone who would come to visit me how to make them…Anytime you would come into my room there would be, like, six people in there making these roses.”

Applegate was diagnosed with breast cancer earlier this year and spent considerable time in the hospital while recovering from a mastectomy. Now, Christina will donate her homemade crafts to a charity auction for RightActionForWomen.org – an organization dedicated to raising funds for women suffering with breast cancer.

Big news!! 14 of the world’s most popular female singers are getting together for one big charity-supporting diva fest. That’s right, stars like Mariah Carey, Beyonce Knowles, Fergie (and Ecorazzi superbabes) Leona Lewis, Carrie Underwood and Sheryl Crow are planning to record Just Stand Up for the Stand Up To Cancer charity, which will be released to download from September 2nd.

Not only are these lovely ladies laying down the track, they’ll also be performing the song at the Stand Up To Cancer benefit show, which is set to air simultaneously on three US television networks – ABC, NBC and CBS – on September 5th.

Stand Up To Cancer is an initiative of the Entertainment Industry Foundation which calls on the showbiz world to help fight cancer. A slew of other stars will be in attendance such as Christina Applegate, Meryl Streep and Forest Whitaker.

So set the TiVo, download the tune and do your part to kick the crap out of cancer!
