Video: Thom Yorke Dedicates Song To ‘Twat’ US President

Filed under: music — michael @ 9:45 am

As we wrote earlier, Radiohead performed via satellite for Conan O’Brien last week to save a trip to NYC and cut down on emissions. In the video of the performance below, you’ll see lead singer Thom Yorke reveal to us that the chorus of the song is “Denial, Denial” and as such it’s dedicated to “that twat who walked away from the Kyoto agreement.” Brilliant.

Jon Stewart To Host Autistic Benefit for Comedy Central

Filed under: campaigns, events, events: nyc, film-tv, television — parrish @ 9:07 am

This year it seems that Jon Stewart is the host with the most. Ok, well maybe not the MOST viewers…or the MOST jokes…or the MOST ratings…I’ll rephrase. This year it seems that Jon Stewart is…the host.

After an only mildly successful stint as the host of the Oscars, Stewart is putting on his master of ceremonies hat (it’s blue with feathers) once again for the second Night of Too Many Stars: An Overbooked Benefit for Autism Education.

The celebrity infused fundraiser will help raise money for schools and educational programs for autistic children and adults. The last benefit was held in October of 2006 and raised more than $2.6 billion. THAT IS NOT A TYPO PEOPLE!!! 2.6 BILLION!!!!! [Ed note: Actually, that is a typo. $2.6 billion? The sourced article was a bit too generous, though we’d love to believe it true. Actual amount was $2.5 million.]

This year the Night of Too Many Stars: An Overbooked Benefit for Autism Education will take place on April 13th at the Beacon Theater in New York and will also air live on Comedy Central at 8 pm EST. You can expect performances by Will Ferrell, Steve Carell, Adam Sandler, Tina Fey, Stephen Colbert, Conan O’Brien, Sarah Silverman and Amy Poehler. And appearances by Jonah Hill, Matthew Broderick, Kevin James, Rosie O’Donnell and Susie Essman.

Can’t afford to attend the event live (like me)? Don’t have cable (like me)? No worries! This year you can download the show on iTunes and xBox Live Marketplace for $1.99…with all of the proceeds going to charity, of course.

The Ecorazzi Green Restaurant Review: Cafe Blossom

A couple weeks ago I was scanning through PageSix.com and saw that Michael Richards had been spotted dining at some new vegan restaurant on the Upper West Side. Then, a few days later, I was at a super swanky green party and after I passed on the hors devours (we vegans just assume) a friend said, “Dude, you can totally eat those, some new vegan restaurant on the Upper West Side is catering.” Well basically, I took all this as a sign from God and decided to pay this “new vegan restaurant on the Upper West Side”, also known as Café Blossom, a visit.

Working for Ecorazzi has a few perks (see also: free meals, interview with celebs, industry parties) and so I used some of my eco-power (it’s solar of course) and sat down with Craig Cochran, general manager of Café Blossom. Craig told me that not only is his restaurant totally vegan and also kosher, but they uphold some super green standards. For instance, all the take-out containers are corn based and 100% bio-degradable or made from post-consumer waste. The soap in the bathroom is organic and earth-friendly, as are all the cleaning products. Let’s also not forget they’re vegan and that the U.N has said, “raising animals for food generates more greenhouse gases than all the cars and trucks in the world combined.”

Rumor has it, that celebrities such as Kevin Bacon, Conan O’Brien and Matt Dillon have all been seen doing a little tofu-munching at Cafe Blossom… and I can definitely see why. The food was scrumptious and the atmosphere divine! I started with a Black Eyed Pea Cake that could make the most carnivorous soul drool, and worked my way to a Soy Bacon Cheeseburger with chipotle aioli. Craig also told me that coming soon Cafe Blossom will officially rock vegan soft serve “ice-cream”. HALLELUJAH!

So that’s it folks! The service was awesome, the food was delicious and the place was absolutely beautiful. If you live in New York, or just find yourself stopping by, I highly recommend you check out Cafe Blossom and see what all the fuss is about. Oh yeah, and tell them Ecorazzi sent you!
