Thanksgiving is almost here and it’s time to start thinking about your celebration plans! If you’re sick of sitting around a table with a big dead bird, Farm Sanctuary has a couple celebrity-infused events that might interest you.

The first is a NYC celebration hosted by hip-hop mogul and Def Jam Founder Russell Simmons at Tavern on the Green. The event will include a yummy vegan gourmet brunch and a special reading by Jonathan Safran Foer from his red-hot new book “Eating Animals.” Oh yeah, and I’ll be there too!

Across the country in Orland, CA, actress/advocate Daniela Sea from “The L Word” will host a compassionate Thanksgiving celebration complete with a candlelit gourmet vegan dinner, a “Feeding of the Turkeys” ceremony and a performance by punk rock pioneer Jonathan Richman.

Just a few months ago, Daniela told Ecorazzi:

“The vegan diet in the western industrial society is important to me because I feel that if you open yourself up to eating dairy and meat then you’re taking part in basically a holocaust for animals. You know it’s very different if you’re in some tribal situation where people are fishing — like how we used to live. Maybe we would have eaten meat sometimes. But this kind of American idea we have of traditional eating is the cause of so much torture and misery.”

As a fixture here in the NYC eco party scene, I’m becoming pretty darn good at spotting an awesome event! And this, I can guarantee, will be a party you DON’T want to miss!

On December 4th, the Ecorazzi crew will be getting all jiggy with it at Winter Wonderland for the Animals: A Farm Sanctuary Benefit. Stars like Alison Becker, Jennifer Coolidge, Corey Feldman, Peter Max, Patrick McDonnell, Tatum O’Neal, Daniela Sea, Ally Sheedy, Princess Superstar, Loretta Swit, Justin Theroux, and many more will all be in attendance, showing their support for this fantastic organization!

The event will be held on Thursday, December 4, 2008, from 6:00 – 10:00 p.m. at The Art Directors Club in NYC and will include cocktails, gourmet veggie food, a silent auction and goody bags galore!
