As much as we adore famous faces here at Ecorazzi, we also know that it doesn’t take a movie contract and an entourage to be a star! There are incredible people doing awesome deeds all around the world and Anderson Cooper and CCN will honor them this week with CNN Heroes – An All-Star Tribute.

This past February, CNN launched its search to find the most outstanding humanitarian and received 3,700 nominations from 75 countries! Since then, philanthropic leaders such as Archbishop Desmond Tutu, Jane Goodall, Magic Johnson, George Lopez, and Queen Rania Al Abdullah have narrowed down the search to 10 finalists.  We’d like to congratulate the following people on all their great work:

Tad Agoglia,Yohannes GebregeorgisCarolyn LeCroy,  Anne MahlumLiz McCartneyPhymean NounDavid PuckettMaria RuizMarie Da Silva and Viola Vaughn.

Desmond Tutu: Developed Countries Caused Global Warming

Filed under: politics — sara @ 2:15 pm

In a video message to a meeting of the World Development Movement lobby group on Thursday, former Anglican Archbishop of Cape Town and Nobel Peace laureate Desmond Tutu said that developed countries have caused global warming and need to be the leaders in cutting their carbon gas emissions.

Tutu said that businessmen who take flights instead of using video conferencing are sentencing the poor people of the world to death, and that up to 185 million Africans would die this century because of climate change.

You mean polar bears aren’t the only mammals affected by global warming? Here’s to hoping Tutu’s words won’t fall on deaf ears in the countries that need to hear them most.

You know. Like ours.
