The unlikely pair have announced that they’re joining forces to launch a new range of “modern, healthy organic food”. Hurley will supply organic meat from her 400-acre farm for the Prince’s sustainable food brand Duchy Originals. The 43-year-old actress-turned-farmer has already found success selling her humanely-raised beef, pork, and lamb to leading chefs and farmers markets around the UK. Her association with the Royals will do even more to expand her fledgling empire.

“His Royal Highness The Prince of Wales is an inspiration to me because of his passionate belief in organic food and farming and his unwavering commitment to help protect and sustain the countryside,” Hurley said. “I feel honoured to be working with Duchy Originals and am extremely excited about the products we are developing together.”

As one would expect, Hurley has come under fire from animal rights groups for promoting the meat scene. Last July, PETA sent her a letter urging her “to allow the piglets, calves and lambs on your land to live out their natural lives in comfort and safety” and join the organization in “promoting a healthy vegetarian diet.” Guess we know what her answer to that request is.

As expected, PETA has responded to Liz Hurley’s decision to promote fur in a new ad campaign for Blackglama. “It’s shocking that she’s taking money to wear baby minks, who are skinned at six months old for Liz’s luxuries. Her wardrobe is as dead as her film career,” said Robbie LeBlanc, Director of PETA Europe. “Millions of animals are electrocuted and skinned alive, suffering terribly for the production of fur. With so many fantastic faux furs available, there is no excuse for the wearing of real fur,” said LeBlanc.

Elizabeth Hurley has decided to shed her clothes for a new ad campaign. However, unlike PETA’s “I’d Rather Go Naked Than Wear Fur” angle, Hurley is draping herself in some mink coats for controversial fur house Blackglama. So disappointing.

Model Gisele Bündchen is but one famous celebrity that previously also went the fur route with Blackgama. Then, much like what will soon happen, PETA slammed her decision and a tremendous amount of negative press followed. She immediately apologized saying, “It was bad decision on my part, because I don’t wear fur and I understand their [PETA's] cause. I am the biggest animal lover in the world. I have four dogs and two horses, and I have rescued animals all my life.”

Of course, wearing fur is but the latest decision by Hurley to draw the ire of PETA. Back in July, she was sent a letter by the group over her new organic TV dinners that feature meat from her farm. “We urge you to allow the piglets, calves and lambs on your land to live out their natural lives in comfort and safety and join PETA in promoting a healthy vegetarian diet,” the letter concluded.

Looks like she’ll be receiving another one soon. Stay tuned to hear how this unfolds…

Much like many other celebrities that have taken to the farm life — like Elizabeth Hurley, Hayden Christensen, Daryl Hannah, Vera Farmiga, and Nicole Kidman — Dunst is eager to follow suit. “I can’t wait to have kids one day. I want to have kids and a farm with lots of animals, and a lake,” she said.

The actress and her husband reside on a biodynamic farm she bought a couple years ago. “It’s the only place I want to be. When we get our organic status we’re going to farm properly and we’re going to have a herd of cows and proper sheep and proper chickens, and we’re going to have Gloucestershire Old Spot pigs,” she said last year.

Now, with the pigs and chickens all in place, Hurley is moving ahead with her frozen organic dinners “with a view that they’re not only going to be healthy,” she said. “because they’re organic, but I’m obsessed that women find alternatives to eat which are low in fat. For a long time we’ve been telling women to try and follow a low-fat diet and try and switch from a high-fat milk to a zero-fat milk. Now we genuinely believe if any of even the zero fat milk is crammed full of antibiotics and hormones it can be very detrimental to your health,” she added.

No word yet on if we’ll see these frozen organic entrees stateside…

Coca-Cola’s going green? I really doubt it, but they seem to be making some efforts: they’re giving every athlete at the Olympics a t-shirt or visor made from cotton and recycled polyethylene terephthalate (yeah, the stuff their product comes in). These items are from their new “sustainable fashion” line, which, though I’m still skeptical, would be a really cool thing from them. Not to mention a good money move, right? Selling products, getting their containers recycled–then using them to sell yet another product?

Former Chicago Bears quarterback Jim McMahon is hosting a two-day celebrity charity event before Super Bowl XLIII at Lakewood Ranch Golf and Country Club. The celebrity golf tournament (yep, another one!) will be benefiting the Wounded Warrior Battalion, the Lynda McMahon Ferguson Memorial Foundation for Literacy and the Lakewood Ranch Community Fund. Though the official list of star players hasn’t been announced, invites have been given to Michael Jordan, Charles Barkley, Brett Favre, and others.

Famous and fabulous eco designer Katherine Hamnett is saving the sea. Celeb fans of Hamnet, such as Sarah Jessica Parker and Naomi Campbell, might be interested in her new line of ethical-as-ever shirts associated with the Environmental Justice Foundation’s campagin against pirate fishing. “We get 98% of our oxygen from the sea; the sea is dying because of pollution and environmental degradation,” says Hamnett. Old Mrs. Hurley had a farm, ee i ee i o. And on her farm she killed some lambs, ee i ee i o. Oh, but I joke Elizabeth Hurley…kind of! Ecorazzi previously reported that the British model turned actress had opened her own organic farm in Cirencester, Gloucestershire. And while at first we thought she was harvesting organic vegggies, turns out she was actually introducing an organic meat and lamb product.

Well now it’s been reported that Hurley is set to launch her own reality show about life on the farm. The program will “follow Elizabeth as she goes about her everyday life looking after chickens and sheep.” About swapping her designer clothes for a more humble attire, Hurley said: ”People always imagine me with perfect hair. But that’s not who I am. The first time he saw me in the country, my husband found me in wellies, covered in mud.” There’s a joke in there somewhere.

No word yet on if Hurley’s show will play in America, but if it does I’ll be interested to see how they handle the slaughter issue. Surely, “looking after chickens and sheep” is one thing, but I can’t imagine that watching Elizabeth send those same chickens and sheep off to slaughter would make for really great entertainment. Then again…who ever thought Flavor Of Love would work out?

As we’re all vaguely aware,  Elizabeth Hurley has retired to the English countryside to engross herself in her new organic farm. It’s not all for kicks, however, as the actress is focused on making money from the venture through a new line of frozen foods and organic TV dinners. In a recent interview with Red Magazine, she described the pre-packaged dishes as “fabulous versions that are delicious, healthy, not too expensive and very low in fat.”

Oh yea, and there’s meat in them.

So, no surprise this week that PETA has crafted a letter urging Ms. Hurley to lay off the animal products and go vegetarian. Obviously, they’re none too thrilled with the idea of meaty entries, no matter how happy the animals’ lives down on the farm. From the letter,

“Please know that no matter however “lovely” his or her life might have been, no farmed animal – intensively reared or organic – goes willingly or fearlessly to slaughter. In the UK, animal slaughter is poorly regulated and plagued by abuse. Pigs are often insufficiently stunned, and many remain conscious throughout the entire slaughter process. They often wake up while they are “bleeding out” and are still conscious when they are plunged into boiling-hot water.

We urge you to allow the piglets, calves and lambs on your land to live out their natural lives in comfort and safety and join PETA in promoting a healthy vegetarian diet.”

According to a new interview with Red Magazine, Hurley is hooking up with an organic food producer and is interested in making some low-fat, organic pre-packaged meals. “Fabulous versions that are delicious, healthy, not too expensive and very low in fat,” she said. “So, that’s my big dream, because there’s a massive hole in the market for that.”

The 42-year-old semi-retired actress is also creating a “low-fat” cookbook and may appear in a television series that documents her life on the farm. 

And how about those animals – 15 calves, 34 piglets and 50 lambs – that live on the farm? Hurley doesn’t have any hard feelings about turning them into food, because she knows they all lead incredible lives. “I think, if you were being cruel to animals, then the thought of eating them would be horrific. But our animals have the most fantastic, lovely lives farm animals could possibly have. I feel fine about it.”
