Erykah Badu Is A Certified Holistic Healer

R&B singer Erykah Badu took advantage of a five-year break from music to start a family and become certified in holistic medicine. She explains, “I became a second-degree reiki practitioner. I’m not just a recording artist. I do many things and try to put my hand in many places.”
As someone lucky enough to have a wife certified in massage therapy, I’m somewhat familiar with reiki technique. Basically, it’s a gentle laying of hands on the body to help channel and increase the energy flowing through us. Reiki practitioners believe we are all influenced in our daily lives by this “life force energy” and they work in a style similar to massage to release stress and increase relaxation.
But back to Badu — not only is she a new mom — but she’s also taken the time off to devote to her charity work; specifically her youth foundation Beautiful Love Incorporated Non Profit Development (B.L.I.N.D.) — provides community-driven development for inner-city youth through music, dance, theater and visual arts.
