To continue his good work, Forest will host a special screening of Kassim The Dream, a multiple award-winning documentary based on the journey of a Ugandan child from child soldier to world champion boxer.

The screening will be held on January 29th and help benefit Hope North – a refuge for orphans and escaped child soldiers in northern Uganda that provides schooling and training to rebuild their lives.

Tickets to the event are a mere $25 and include VIP seating at ArcLight Cinemas in Los Angeles, and a cocktail reception and question and answer period afterwards.

Oscar-winner Forest Whitaker is said to be on board to assist Sundance with the new series. Reuters is reporting that Whitaker might have a voice-over role — with producing credits as well.

“Whitaker, the Oscar-winning star of “The Last King of Scotland,” will serve as an executive producer with the series’ directors, Marc Levin (”Slam”) and Mark Benjamin (”The Last Party”).

With regards to how in the world all this might relate to green, the series is said to address and seek solutions to some of the environmental problems faced by the city; as well as violence, education, and poverty. Look for it to debut in 2009 with an initial order of six half-hour episodes.

Big news!! 14 of the world’s most popular female singers are getting together for one big charity-supporting diva fest. That’s right, stars like Mariah Carey, Beyonce Knowles, Fergie (and Ecorazzi superbabes) Leona Lewis, Carrie Underwood and Sheryl Crow are planning to record Just Stand Up for the Stand Up To Cancer charity, which will be released to download from September 2nd.

Not only are these lovely ladies laying down the track, they’ll also be performing the song at the Stand Up To Cancer benefit show, which is set to air simultaneously on three US television networks – ABC, NBC and CBS – on September 5th.

Stand Up To Cancer is an initiative of the Entertainment Industry Foundation which calls on the showbiz world to help fight cancer. A slew of other stars will be in attendance such as Christina Applegate, Meryl Streep and Forest Whitaker.
