At a climate change meeting in June, Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger said, “America is so addicted to oil it will take us years to wean ourselves from it, and to look for new ways to feed our addiction is not the answer.”

Well, looks like he’s found some new ways to revel in that addiction with the gas-guzzling Dodge Challenger. ‘Tis is the second time he’s been spotted cruising town in the 13mpg vehicle. This from a guy who told ABC’s George Stephanopoulous that he would consider accepting a position as Barack Obama’s Energy Czar.

Lame.

As election time nears, it’s easy to get distracted by the all the hullabaloo of mass media coverage. But let’s face it: we depend on the media to keep us informed on our potential political leader’s views and ideas about the current state of the world. So why are they leaving stuff out?

On December 19th, the League of Conservation Voters released a frightening report, analyzing the questions asked by the top five hosts of political television shows during the primary season. More specifically, questions posed by Wolf Blitzer, Tim Russert, Mike Wallace, Bob Schieffer and George Stephanopoulos. Out of the 2,275 questions they asked during on-air interviews and debates, only 24 were related to climate change or global warming. And worse, the words “global warming” and “climate change” were only ever mentioned three measly times. OUCH!!

The Daily Green, a super wonderful sight devoted to all things eco, has stepped in to help fill this planet sized void of information by publishing, Green Your Vote 2008, which tells you exactly how the candidates feel about important environmental issues and what they plan on doing about them.

It’s up to us, people, to make this world a better place. So no matter what information the mainstream news guys do or do not give us, let’s all agree to go the extra mile and vote smart this election season!
