Move over Gwyneth Paltrow — there’s another actress coming online that wants to share her healthy, environmentally-friendly finds.

In conjunction with the release of her new book “The Kind Diet“, Alicia Silverstone is branching online with a new site called TheKindLife.com. Hit it up currently, and you’re met with nothing more than a “Hellow” — but in an interview with EcoStiletto, Silverstone reveals her plans for the site — as well as some of her favorite brands. “I created a website called TheKindLife.com to get people hooked on all my groovy latest finds—that will happen around the time of the book. I love Tammy Fender and Suki—those are my favorite skin care lines. Josie Maran lip gloss and eyeshadows [link]. Kiss My Face and Giovanni for shampoo. Desert Essence for conditioner—it smells so yummy! And Pharmacopia moisturizer. It’s all organic, except for a teeny bit of parabens. That’s my one naughty treat. I buy it like once a year. It’s smells so yummy! We have to all write to them so they’ll take the parabens out. I love Melissa [Plastic Dreams] shoes. And Stella McCartney. Melissa makes these two shoes that are so great. They’re these black slightly raised flats with an open toe. And a spider web gold shoe that is so awesome.”

I love the idea of Silverstone adding a website to go along with her new book — and I look forward to seeing some great recommendations as well. Look for The Kind Diet to officially launch on the 13th, and the website to follow somewhere around there. We’ll have a full review up shortly.

According to the UK’s Daily Mail, their “plans show they intend to knock through the connecting walls to create eight rooms on the lower ground floor, six on the upper ground, five on the first floor and eight on the second floor. A two-storey extension at the side of the existing house includes a gym, changing room, three bedrooms and a bathroom.”

They also own several other properties around the world and I can’t imagine this new behemoth will help to lower their carbon footprint. There’s no news yet on any energy efficiency plans or green building practices but the Daily Mail’s photo does show a Prius parked in front of the construction site. Environment: 1, Paltrow & Martin: um, 33?

And speaking of Robin Hood, Gwyneth Paltrow is a board member of the New York-based foundation (co-founded by the late John F. Kennedy Jr.) that raises money from successful New Yorkers and donates it to worthy causes. The 36-year-old actress was guest of honor at a Champions of Hope dinner at the Tribeca Rooftop on Wednesday. The event helped raise money for Children of the City, which helps children and their families achieve success in education, social relationships, home, financial and career.

Actor David Arquette spent 8 hours on Tuesday and Wednesday inside a Plexiglas box atop New York City’s Madison Square Garden marquee to draw awareness about hunger. The 37-year-old is chairman of Feeding America’s Entertainment Council — and is working with Snickers’ “Bar Hunger” initiative to help raise money for the organization. Anyways, the first guest writer, Abby, hits a home run with her pick of The Unhealthy Truth. She writes, “As a lover of food and a mother, this book is eye-opening and interesting and I believe it’s a must-read for moms everywhere. It is an examination of the food industry and the revolving door between the corporations that are supplying our food (often dangerous to our health and, more importantly, the health of our children) and the FDA. The author has done incredibly brave work, as the book is informative and at the same time a fascinating read. The author is also a friend and a college-mate of mine and is now being compared to Erin Brockovich.”

Gwyneth Paltrow has upset some in the animal rights world with a new video on how to cook a roast chicken dinner. The actress, who in the past often talked about her macrobiotic and vegan diets, has flipped recently back to eating meat — and organizations like the UK vegetarian charity Viva! are less than thrilled with her latest “how-to”.

“To hear of a so-called vegan promoting the use of chicken meat is extremely disappointing,” Juliet Gellatley, the organisation’s director, said to the UK Daily Mail. ‘It not only condemns the cruel conditions that millions of these birds are forced to exist in, but it also shows complete disregard for the damage that the meat industry – including chicken production – is doing to an ever-fragile planet and to peoples’ health.”

She added: “If Gwyneth wants to promote healthy eating, she should think twice about cooking chicken. A medium-sized bird contains almost a pint of fat. It also releases cancer-causing compounds when it is cooked. We encourage Gwyneth to rethink her diet. She obviously does care, but needs nudging back in the right direction to veganism.”

While surprising to some, this isn’t the first time Paltrow has promoted a bird for dinner. Last Thanksgiving, the actress commented on how much she loves roast turkey — just days after telling PETA how much “a vegetarian diet is the best thing for her family’s health as well as for animals and the environment.”

In the latest edition of her online wellness newsletter, Gwyneth Paltrow dishes on the stylish ways one can go green. This time, however, she’s not alone as the famous actress has also invited a Cameron Diaz to share some her favorite eco picks.

Paltrow’s list includes clothing from Stella McCartney, the book “Worldchanging“, the adorable Peapod transport vehicle, and chef Jamie Oliver’s Organic Pocket Seed Packs, among others. There’s also some recommendations for high-tech water filtration systems, a plug for GOOD magazine, and love for our friends over at Greenopia.

Diaz starts things on the right foot by giving a recommendation of some vegan shoes from Olsen Haus. “They are fun and sexy with a pair of skinny jeans,” she writes. “I like them for walking around the city when I want to wear heels during the day but need to have a sturdy pair that I can move quickly in.”

We also dig that Diaz recognized one of our fellow green sites, Inhabitat.com — as well as shouts for encouraging people to see the documentary FOOD, INC. and read The Omnivore’s Dilemma by Michael Pollan (though they definitely screwed up his first name by spelling it “Micheal”).

Anthony Bourdain

While on a panel with fellow foodie Mario Batali at Seattle’s Paramount theater last weekend, Bourdain poked fun at Batali’s PBS series Spain… On the Road Again; which featured the chef and Paltrow on a culinary tour of Spain. “Why would you go to Spain with the one bitch who refuses to eat ham?” The Seattle Weekly reports Bourdain asked about Paltrow.

Now, we all know Paltrow has fallen off the vegetarian diet since, but at the time of filming she still was full-on VEG.

Bourdain also had some choice words for fans of Batali’s former home network: “The people who watch the Food Network,” he said, “are the ones with a gallon of soda and a bag of Cheetos going, ‘oh, I could make that.’”

Pompous? Yes. An ass? Yes. Joking? Probably. Either way, referring to a woman as “that one bitch” and mocking her for being a vegetarian won’t win you many fans.
