Reality Stars Come Out For The Reality Cares Dogs Next Door Event

Filed under: green and famous — parrish @ 11:07 am

Top three best reality shows ever: Top Chef, So You Think You Can Dance, Intervention. Let’s face it — whether you like it or not, reality television has raped the entertainment world and in it’s wake has left us all perhaps a little dumber and a lot more voyeuristic. Still, with all the negatives that can be said about the genre, you can also find a few positives floating in the debris. Enter Reality Cares

Reality Cares works with reality television executives, producers, writers, cast members, publicists and viewers on a purely volunteer basis to support philanthropic endeavors.  On Saturday, June 14, Reality Cares will team up with Dogs In Danger to host the Reality Cares Dogs Next Door event. The afternoon will be hosted by organization spokesperson and Amazing Race contestant, Shana Wall

Wall said: “Every four seconds a dog is needlessly euthanized in our country alone, simply due to lack of space in our shelters. When I learned about the mission of Dogs In Danger, I jumped at the opportunity to be their national spokesperson. My hope is that our fundraiser brings awareness to this issue so that we can continue to save these dogs from their otherwise tragic fates.”

Celebrities like Ryan Seacrest, Lisa Rinna & Harry Hamlin, Kelly Rutherford, Linda Blair and Lisa Foxx are scheduled to attend, and actor/reality star Jai Rodriguez will emcee a doggy fashion show starring a few precious puppies saved from euthanasia.

Sound like fun? Well good news for you — there are still a few tickets available to the public. Visit DogsInDanger.com and get your tickets now!

“Broadway Barks” Announces 10th Annual Pet Adoption Benefit

Filed under: green and famous — parrish @ 9:56 am

barks1.jpgHow much is that doggy in the window? The one with the waggily tail? I’ll tell you how much: TOTALLY FREE!!!!

It’s just been announced that Broadway Barks, Broadway’s annual adopt-a-pet benefit, will be held on July 12th at Shubert Alley in New York City. Broadway Barks was started 10 years ago by Bernadette Peters and Mary Tyler Moore to promote the adoption of shelter animals.

Each year, the Broadway Barks fundraiser features an auction of celebrity autographed memorabilia as well as celebrity presentations of pets from animal shelters. In the past, celebrities such as David Hyde Pierce, Audra McDonald, Angela Lansbury, Harry Hamlin and Bebe Neuwirth pitched in to help raise awareness.

Bernadette Peters stated, “It’s bringing us closer to the day when we will no longer have to euthanize any healthy and treatable homeless cats and dogs because of a lack of space. As a community, we are most effective in helping animals when we pool our strengths to achieve what is, after all, a shared goal — the elevation and continued welfare of animals in our society.”

Make sure to visit Broadway Barks to learn how you can get involved! Also, visit Shubert Alley on July 12th to meet some of your favorite Broadway stars and find a new four-legged friend. I’ll be there all day, so if you stop by, make sure to say HELLO to your beloved Ecorazzi blogger!
