InStyle Names Hollywood’s Greenest Couples

Filed under: green and famous — meghan @ 3:07 pm

InStyle Magazine’s website has put out a list of the 12 Greenest Hollywood Couples. Coming as no shock, dolphin do-gooders Hayden Panettiere and Milo Ventmiglia are right near the top of the list, as are new parents Jessica Alba and Cash Warren–who have outfitted little Honor Marie’s nursery with organic-cotton onesies and are planning eco-renovations on their home. Alba said, “I would like to see a cleaner earth for my child.”

Also making the list are Adrian Grenier and Isabel LucasGrenier has a solar-panel-equipped, eco-friendly Brooklyn home, and hosts the show Alter Eco on the Planet Green network. InStyle gives Hayden Christensen a shout-out, too; Christensen is the proud new owner of an organic farm in his native Canada, and his Jumper costar and sweetie, Rachel Bilson, has joined in on his green lifestyle: “I try to be as green as I can. Little things count, like recycling and driving my hybrid car,” Bilson said recently.

Let’s hope more celebrity sweethearts take up the green cause!  For the full list of eco-lovers, visit InStyle Online.

Hayden Christensen Building Himself A Little Farm

Filed under: animals, buildings and construction, cars-houses — michael @ 12:58 pm

hayden1.jpgYou might remember actor Hayden Christensen as the young, brooding Jedi Knight-turned Darth Vader in the latest Star Wars prequels. If like most people, however, you find you’ve blocked them out (Damn you Jar Jar!), then perhaps Christensen is hoping you’ll zero in on his new movie Jumper; which happened to take the #1 spot this week at the box office. Either way, a lot has happened in his life since a long time ago in a galaxy far, far away and the 26-year old recently opened up to Details magazine on those changes. Including his efforts to put together a little farm of his own. From the article,

“He has plenty of projects to keep him busy—he’s planting trees, clearing fields, moving earth. He’s hoping to plant some lavender fields. ‘It doesn’t require much maintenance, but apparently it’s a bitch to harvest, because you have to cut it all by hand,’ he says. He’s even thinking of acquiring some livestock. ‘Start off with some cattle and horses, then get a little more inventive. Get some sheep, some goats. Maybe an alpaca.’”

Hayden also talked about his two potbellied pigs have helped curb his cravings for meat.

“‘That’s Buddy and Petunia,’ he says. He got them not long ago. ‘I’m not a vegetarian, but since I’ve gotten these guys, I can’t eat pork anymore. It’s killing me. I especially love prosciutto.’”

You can check out a video of the interview — or jump to the article here.
