And so — because nobody puts baby in the corner — PETA is asking celebrity Armani wearers like Glenn Close and Heidi Klum to boycott the designer until he makes good on his promise. While it hasn’t been released if Klum and Close will indeed help PETA with their mission, there IS one star who’s getting involved.

As Ecorazzi previously reported, Gillian Anderson is super pissed with Armani’s choice and recently rolled up her fur-free sleeves to narrate a video of undercover footage from rabbit fur farms in China and France—countries designer Giorgio Armani is known to purchase from. So watch the video and join PETA, Gillian, Ecorazzi and many others who have all pledged to go fur-free!

This week, PETA’s keeping up the momentum with pleas to Heidi Klum to use her star power and refuse to wear Armani after she, like Close, sported a design from the company at the Emmy’s. A letter has also been sent to Kristin Chenoweth of Pushing Daisies fame, another Emmy Armani-Wearer.

Do you think that these stars will pledge to go Armani-free until the company itself goes fur-free? Your guess is as good as mine. But one thing’s for sure: if you’re famous and you’re wearing Armani, you’re gonna get a letter from PETA. When PETA’s not happy, nobody’s happy!

Another eco bag alert: Celebs are teaming up with 21st Century Leaders for Whatever It Takes, a new charity art project. Each celeb is donating their own artwork–something to symbolize hope–and that art will be made into “merchandise with meaning.” Now that’s a catchy do-gooder phrase!

This meaningful merch will include clothing, homewares, cosmetics, artwork and other items. Its notable Bags for Life collection, all free-trade made and eco-friendly, will be featuring creations from Joss Stone, Gwen Stefani, Stella McCartney, Georgio Armani, Alexander McQueen, and Heidi Klum. Each celeb gets to pick a charity that his or her proceeds will benefit.

The Bags for Life collection is benefitting The United Nations Refugee Agency UNHCR and 21st Century Leaders.

Brittany Spears is auctioning off her naked self–her naked self-portrait, that is. The painting, which the singer has also autographed, is being sold on eBay to raise funds for L.A.’s the Promises Foundation, which provides women and children with low-income with behavioral health services. Though the lawsuit hasn’t been settled (or dismissed) yet, Kate Hudson is still promoting her new hair-care line, David Babaii for WildAid. Not only is the actress actually using herself to test the products (Go Kate!), she’s also filming ads out in the bush with WildAid workers. “There was a black rhino right in front of our hut. It is one of the top on the endangered species list. It was so sad. It was all alone,” she said.

While the Atkins meat frenzy hasn’t completely left the planet yet, there are plenty of celebs who use veggie means when they’re dieting. Joan Lunden digs fresh fruit, Kelly Preston chows on oatmeal and bagels, Claudia Schiffer munches on salad and steamed vegetables, and Heidi Klum uses a salad with vinegar as an appetizer going out to restrain her appetite.

Molly Sims and Jennifer Jason Leigh are fans of Vert, L.A.’s first eco beauty boutique. Vert’s products are all chemical-free, mostly organic, and the store even holds makeup seminars and workshops to help customers lead more eco-friendly lifestyles.

The 5th Season includes among its budding designers Leanne Marshall, of Portland, Oregon. Her line, Leanimal, integrates eco-friendly materials like hemp, bamboo and organic cottons. Marshall claims she uses eco-friendly materials on about a 50-50 basis, but tells VenusZine, “I would like it to be greater than that eventually.”

So would we. But until then, you’ve given us our first person to root for tomorrow night. Not that we watch.

As most are aware, Naomi Campbell is a British supermodel with a penchant for cell-phone throwing and physical violence; most recently resulting in her being banned for life from British Airways. But did you also know that Campbell is passionately involved in renewable energy initiatives? So much so, that she was recently honored for her activism? We didn’t either — and because we cover this crazy world 24/7 — we’re shoveling through this massive pile of BS to figure out what in the world actually went down last week to result in such delirium.

Apparently, a fresh new organization that’s literally nowhere to be found online beyond their website, organized the gala at the United Nations last Friday. Called the International Renewable Energy Organization (IREO), their Diamond Awards for Renewable Energy event was meant as an introduction to the new org and an opportunity to honor those making strides in alternative energy.

Leonardo DiCaprio was listed as an attendee on the invite, but apparently he caught wind of the shady intentions of the honors and jumped ship. Other celebrities like Heidi Klum and Patrick Dempsey did manage to show, but we’re not sure exactly why. Joining Campbell in the honors was Petra N?mcová – but at least this is one famous fashion model that has actually helped address the issue of renewables.

The only thing we can remember Campbell doing is picking up trash as part of her community service (for assaulting an assistant), making plans to develop a casino and hotel on a coastal sanctuary for turtles in Kenya, and wearing animal fur and skins for nearly every photo opportunity. What a brilliant choice!

We wish IREO all the luck — they seem to hold promise as an organization with great intentions (even if they’re advisory board is still “Under Construction”) — but we sincerely hope they do a bit more homework before blindly throwing awards at people less than deserving. Better luck next year.

The auction is going live on eBay tonight at 7pm and will help raise funds for the Lavender Trust charity- a group supporting women suffering with breast cancer. All the dresses will be sold on eBay at three-day intervals until the release of the film.

Many of the donations are well known red carpet dresses, and straight off the backs of people like Mariah Carey, Geri Halliwell, Thandie Newton, Naomi Campbell and Heidi Klum. 

Obviously, the auction comes just in time for the release of Katherine Heigl’s latest film, 27 Dresses, which will hit nationwide March 27th (insert obvious plug here).

When Ugly Betty first premiered, I was steadfast against watching it. Much in the same way I suppose that I railed against Grey’s Anatomy. However, much like Grey’s I was quickly won over by the writing and humor. It’s a hilarious and self-mocking view of the fashion industry that ridiculously twists and turns in more ways than some soap operas could ever dream of. Highly recommended — but I digress…

On a recent episode, character Betty Suarez (played by America Ferrera) carried a large multi-colored Rebagz Tie-Tote. Much like the Ecoist brand we love to promote, these bags are made from recycled materials; specifically juice packs and nylon rice bags. Other celebrities that enjoy the line include Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt, Heidi Klum, Halle Berry, Sheryl Crow and Serena Williams. Needless to say, the owners of the company are thrilled that so many people are going the recycled route when it comes to fashion acccessories. From the release,

Since we moved to California I have realised how important it is to practise safe sun for myself and to keep my three boys skin well protected as well. Skin cancer is a huge problem and I really wanted to help raise awareness by taking part in Marc’s initiative.

The autographed shirts go on sale in Marc Jacob’s stores beginning next week and all proceeds from the sale will go to the NYU Skin Cancer Foundation.
