Isabel Lucas To Attend Whaling Conference In Chile With Anti-Whaling Org

Filed under: animals, campaigns — michael @ 10:18 am

Actress Isabel Lucas is in the middle of a pretty heavy life-transition. She’s landed a major role in the upcoming Tranformers 2, is relocating from her native Australia to LA, and is assisting beau Adrian Grenier with the development of his new series Alter-Eco for Planet Green. Still, she hasn’t lost sight of her other passions — including helping in the fight to end the slaughter of whales.

Later this month, The International Whaling Commission’s 60th Annual Meeting will take place in Chile. Filming schedule permitting, Lucas is determined to attend the event and protest. “It’s an annual conference where all the people in the whaling industry gather together and talk about how many whales they’re going to be slaughtering,” Isabel explained in a recent interview with the Cairns newspaper. “We’re going with the Whaleman Foundation. I’ve already requested time off for it. We don’t sort of claim to go there and corrupt the whaling system, I just want to go and soak up information and see if there’s anything else I can physically do or just learn more and become more educated about this whole topic.”

We’ve no doubt that Hayden Panettiere may also be involved in this protest, as she is a major supporter of the Whaleman Foundations as well. Back in October, her and Lucas were both issues arrest warrants by the Japanese authorities after attempting to stop a dolphin slaughter.

Daryl Hannah Shopping Her Green Web Series To TV Networks

Filed under: film-tv, movies, products, television, web — michael @ 10:10 am

fleurNot surprisingly, Daryl Hannah is attempting to take advantage of the green media grab by shopping her dhLoveLife web video series to television networks. According to one news source, Hannah is using her entire site and media to market the transition to television. With massive networks like Planet Green and The Sundance Channel eager to fill the digital waves with green original content, we’d be somewhat curious if nobody took her up on the offer. Hopefully, none of them have seen Shark Swarm. [Read more...]

Designer Sami Hayek, brother of actress Salma Hayek, has just signed a deal with Target for a new line of home furnishings and accessories. According to the release, the items will have minimal packaging, and the packaging itself can be reused, recycled or made into other objects, like CD holders and file folders. All this talk of packaging, however, leads us to believe the actual goods aren’t very eco-friendly. [Read more...]

Adrian Grenier And Isabel Lucas Make An Eco Power Couple

Aussie star also lending a hand with new series for Planet Green

Filed under: animals, campaigns, film-tv, magazines, movies — michael @ 2:30 pm

It’s no secret that Adrian Grenier has been dating Isabel Lucas, but what may be a mystery to most is who exactly she is.

Residing in Australia, Lucas is an actress that is quickly becoming the face of the nation’s anti-whaling campaign. She was right alongside Hayden Panettiere last October when they paddled out on surf boards to stop a dolphin slaughter — and later found out a warrant had been issued by Japanese authorities for her arrest. I’m thinking she won’t be returning to the land of the rising sun anytime soon.

Lucas is also environmentally conscious — though we imagine anyone dating Adrian Grenier needs to bring some green to the table (then again, there was that whole thing with Paris…). In the upcoming issue of Madison Magazine, she put her feelings out on the table. From the article,

” [She] urged people to employ more environmentally friendly habits, including riding bicycles, using energy-efficient appliances, planting vegetable gardens and using organic detergents. ‘If we’re finding it painful to make changes now, imagine how hard it will be in 10 years,’ Lucas said. ‘We need to be responsible now so that our kids can swim in the ocean and not get sick from the pollution,” Lucas said. “I believe it’s possible to change. I’m excited about it.’”

Lucas will also be joining Grenier in the debut of his new series for Planet Green, Alter Eco. “I’m helping out wherever I can because I think it’s a fantastic concept,” Lucas told the website Confidential. “Adrian has always been ecologically-conscious and we definitely relate on that.”

Let’s hope this is one long-distance relationship that works out! Expect more photos of these two together as Lucas gets ready to reside in LA for a bit of time to shoot Transformers 2. More info on this rising star here.

Hayden Panettiere Saves The Whales…Again.

Filed under: animals, campaigns, events, events: DC, green and famous — parrish @ 10:57 am

Breaking News: Hayden Panettiere is actually part whale. A thin whale, yes. A cute whale, absolutely. But I am most definitely, one hundred percent convinced that Hayden Panettiere is somehow directly related to the cetacean family and thus porpoise like in distinction.  And like any good family member-she protects her clan.

This weekend, Panettiere spoke at the Save the Whales-Again campaign at DuPont Circle in Washington D.C to help raise awareness about the brutal slaying of whales around the the world. Save the Whales-Again is an international conservation project that aims to re-ignite the passion of the earlier “Save the Whales” movement and “Save the Whales Again!”.

Panettiere joins fellow celebrities, Pierce Brosnan, Keely Shaye Smith, and Isabel Lucas  who have all pitched in to try and help save the whale…again.  Panettiere has been particularly active in the movement and has future plans to speak with representatives from Japan, Iceland, and Norway to try and convince them to change their archaic fishing practice.

It looks like this Heroes star was typecast.
