Jessica Biel has announced that she will be joining Isabel Lucas and Lupe Fiasco in scaling Mt. Kilimanjaro this January to help raise awareness for clean water. The expedition is the brainchild of singer and producer Kenna; whose own father suffered from waterborne diseases as a child in Ethiopia.

Back in April, it was Biel’s boyfriend, singer Justin Timberlake, who first announced the project in an interview with GQ. “I’ve been training four times a week to get my VO2 [oxygen consumption] levels up to expand my lungs,” Timberlake said. “We’ll climb for a week straight, carrying 30 pounds on our backs. It’s going to be intense.” Unless something has changed, we assume he’s still connected with the effort — but representatives for the campaign are reportedly not confirming anything one way or another.

Said Biel in a statement announcing her participation, “This is a basic human necessity that needs to be addressed now. I’m proud to help any way I can in order to raise awareness toward the life-threatening clean water crisis happening not only in Africa but around the world.”

Apparently, more celebrities are set to be announced in the coming weeks. You can check out the slick official site for the “Summit on the Summit” campaign — and get involved – by clicking here.

Titled Rights Revoked, the film explores the links between animals and fashion, cosmetics, food and entertainment.

Back in July of last year, we were psyched to see these two collaborating on bringing such a film to the masses, but now it appears that Lucas couldn’t handle sharing the camera with her former housemate and best friend. From the article,

“The 24-year-old booming actress cites brewing on-set tensions and personal discomfort for her decision, while Sursara remains on board for the project, something fans of Lucas’ congratulate her for. Said one comment on a News.com.au subsite, ‘I commend Elissa for sticking to her passion for animals and not backing out like a baby.’”

Completely agree. For someone like Lucas — who regularly fights for the rights of whales and other animals — to pull out of an important documentary just because she’s not into her co-star sounds like a classic prima donna in training. For her part, Lucas said she was concerned about the welfare of the documentary first, saying the tension might affect their charitable work, “Particularly if we are filming things that may trigger anger and other messy emotions.”

Dear Lucas: Get over it.

Rumor has it Animal Planet might be interested in airing the doc once completed sometime in 2010.

The stars came out yesterday for the New York city premiere of the dolphin documentary The Cove, starring Hayden Panettiere and Isabel Lucas. In attendance were Ben Stiller, Christine Taylor, and Adrian Grenier — who made the gossip fly by accompanying former flame Lucas.

The movie is a heart-wrenching affair and documents the more than 23,000 dolphins killed in one little cove in Taigi, Japan, each year. Back in November of 2007, Panettiere and Lucas joined several other activists in paddling out to the cove in an attempt to stop the slaughter of a pod of dolphins. Japanese fisherman cut off the group and they were forced to return to the shore due to escalating violence. (You can see some harsh video of the confrontation here.)

After the premiere, Robert F. Kennedy Jr., actor Fischer Stevens, Netscape founder Jim Clark and Mr. O’ Barry sat in front of the audience to take questions. According to the New York Observer, Kennedy told the group, “All people have to do is see this, and it’s going to change because it’s so outrageous what is happening there. They’re destroying public health, they’re destroying 23,000 dolphins a year, they’re slaughtering them in the most inhuman, awful way, they’re subverting democracy, they’re corrupting democratic institutions across the world.”

The Cove will hit theaters on July 31st in New York City and Los Angeles. Hit the jump below to view the trailer.

In this month’s issue of Australian magazine Madison ex-Home and Away starlet Isabel Lucas talks about her commitment to ending whaling (which earned her a warrant for her arrest – go you good thing!) and her advice on how to approach dealing with the many confronting issues in the world.

Isabel pulls no punches about why she hates whaling, saying “.. it’s so cruel, it’s absolutely barbaric”: no beating around the bush there! She describes the horror of seeing slaughtered pilot whales in the water around her as she and other activists performed a peace paddle, and affirms her willingness to do it all over again. Respect! In her words,

“Why am I passionate? Because it’s so cruel, it’s absolutely barbaric. I’m really comfortable with the media attention I’ve helped secure for this cause, but whether or not I was in the industry, this would be something I would choose to be involved in. I think there are many issues in the world that need to be attended to, but you also can’t give your energy to everything. I’m dealing with one thing at a time.”

Perhaps you disagree with her position that we should choose just one issue and focus on it, but I’d take a guess that most ecorazzi readers are already aware, active and awesome anyway – so this advice might be just the encouragement that a newbie greenie needs to get started.

[UPDATE] Our eyes (and photo services) deceived us. Turns out the above is not Isabel Lucas.

Perhaps the demise of one of InStyle’s “Greenest Hollywood Couples” was nothing but a rumor. Alter-Eco star Adrian Grenier and Isabel Lucas were seen last night headed to the Time Warner Building for dinner at the Porter House in Uptown, New York City. The pair had reportedly parted ways after Lucas was seen hanging out with Shia LaBeouf earlier this month. Lucas was also involved in the accident that occurred at 3AM with LaBeouf behind the wheel.

Lucas recently moved to Los Angeles to pursue her film career, star in the Transformers sequel, and also lend a hand helping with Grenier’s Alter-Eco series for Planet Green. Along with Hayden Panettiere, she’s been a massive celebrity force in drawing attention to the plight of whales and the hunts that occur each year.

Adrian Grenier is putting the finishing touches on his latest documentary called Teenage Paparazzi. The film will have Mr. Grenier exploring his friendship with a 14-year-old paparazzo.

The breakup follows pretty closely on the heels of the discovery that Isabel Lucas was also involved in Shia LaBeouf’s 3 am car accident.

“It wasn’t working out,” says a source. “Adrian saw her with Shia and that was kind of it – the crash, their hanging out. He obviously didn’t appreciate it.” – People

Well, I don’t think anybody would appreciate their girlfriend gallivanting around town with Shia LaBeouf at three in the morning. Unless there was a really good reason. Such as perhaps they were racing to the shore to save a beached whale. But clearly, this was not the case.

Isabel, honey? We all make mistakes, okay? I mean, there was even that one time that I thought the skater look was a great idea for me. But I got over it, and moved on to bigger and better things. Mostly a more reasonable look for myself. The point here is, though, you can move on from this! Just, you know, think about the possible consequences a little bit more thoroughly before hopping into a vehicle with your “somewhat intoxicated” co-star.

In fact, maybe you should have just stayed home.

Shia LaBeouf’s accident yesterday morning — in which the young actor flipped his truck while intoxicated — apparently also involved everyone’s favorite whale-saving greenie Isabel Lucas. The 23-year-old Australian actress recently completed a move to LA to work on her new movie with LaBeouf — Transformers 2: Revenge of the Fallen — and spend more time helping boyfriend Adrian Grenier with his green television series and other projects.

Grenier, for obvious reasons, was none too pleased to hear that Lucas was involved in the accident or partying with Shia until 3am. The eco-pair recently made InStyle magazine’s list of “Greenest Hollywood Couples” and have long been involved in topics ranging from climate change, to anti-fur, to saving the whales.

Hands off, Shia! We need more people like Lucas and can’t afford your dumb ass decisions impacting the big picture.

Actress Isabel Lucas is in the middle of a pretty heavy life-transition. She’s landed a major role in the upcoming Tranformers 2, is relocating from her native Australia to LA, and is assisting beau Adrian Grenier with the development of his new series Alter-Eco for Planet Green. Still, she hasn’t lost sight of her other passions — including helping in the fight to end the slaughter of whales.

Later this month, The International Whaling Commission’s 60th Annual Meeting will take place in Chile. Filming schedule permitting, Lucas is determined to attend the event and protest. “It’s an annual conference where all the people in the whaling industry gather together and talk about how many whales they’re going to be slaughtering,” Isabel explained in a recent interview with the Cairns newspaper. “We’re going with the Whaleman Foundation. I’ve already requested time off for it. We don’t sort of claim to go there and corrupt the whaling system, I just want to go and soak up information and see if there’s anything else I can physically do or just learn more and become more educated about this whole topic.”

We’ve no doubt that Hayden Panettiere may also be involved in this protest, as she is a major supporter of the Whaleman Foundations as well. Back in October, her and Lucas were both issues arrest warrants by the Japanese authorities after attempting to stop a dolphin slaughter.

To learn more about Isabel — including her work for organizations like Sea Shepherd and Earth Hour — check out the full article here.

According to one news source, Hannah is using her entire site and media to market the transition to television. With massive networks like Planet Green and The Sundance Channel eager to fill the digital waves with green original content, we’d be somewhat curious if nobody took her up on the offer. Hopefully, none of them have seen Shark Swarm.
Actress Isabel Lucas is pulling up roots in Australia and permanently relocating to Hollywood to spend more time with boyfriend Adrian Grenier, help out with his show Alter Eco for Planet Green, and get to work on some new movie productions. Sources are saying the two are planning on living together in what will no doubt be a very green home.
Designer Sami Hayek, brother of actress Salma Hayek, has just signed a deal with Target for a new line of home furnishings and accessories. According to the release, the items will have minimal packaging, and the packaging itself can be reused, recycled or made into other objects, like CD holders and file folders. All this talk of packaging, however, leads us to believe the actual goods aren’t very eco-friendly.
