Luckily, Will Smith and Jada feel the same way!

The famous duo have donated over $1.3 million to charitable causes in the last year. And just where is that money going? Well according to Fox News (always a reliable source), the cash has been split between civic, religious and arts groups, including $122,500 to friend Tom Cruise’s Church of Scientology.

The biggest single contribution was to Yesha Ministries of Philadelphia. The born-again Christian based organization received $250,000. Smith donated a further $200,000 to a Christian ministry outside Los Angeles called Living Waters. JESUS!! No, I mean literally…Jesus!

Does it make YOU feel all warm inside when you hear about your favorite star’s gift-giving ways? Chime in share your thoughts!!

As we’ve already announced (with great pride and gusto) Proposition 2 – an initiative in California to prohibit the confinement of certain farm animals in some of the cruelest manners – has passed with flying colors. But what we haven’t mentioned is that on the other side of the country in Massachusetts, Question 3 — which will make greyhound racing illegal in the state by 2010 — has also succeeded! And it isn’t just the government making efforts to reduce animal suffering! Jada Pinkett Smith has declared her own personal animal “proposition” as well.

Inspired by her family’s pet snake, Beauty, Jada has decided to ban all animals that live in cages from her home. She said, “I think I’ll never get an animal like a snake again where I have to keep her in an aquarium. We have this whole thing for Beauty outside for her, to be in a natural habitat. But at the end of the day, she knows she’s caged into her aquarium.”

“We can’t set her into the wild now, but I told (daughter) Willow we won’t do this again and won’t have any animals that need to stay like that. Maybe when I get older, that’ll become one of my activist endeavors.”

Activist is always a wonderful word and we just love it when we hear Hollywood’s hottest utter those three delicious syllables. If you’re interested in adding an animal to your family, but aren’t excited about contributing to often brutal pet trade, visit PetFinder.com and adopt a pet in need today.

Oprah Winfrey’s new reality show, Big Give, is getting some help from actress Jennifer Aniston. The show — which premieres March 2nd — challenges 10 people to help change the lives of complete strangers. At the end of the challenge, the contestants will be judged on their leadership, accomplishments, creativity and presentation with one “giver” being eliminated. The judges include “world-renowned “Naked Chef” and philanthropist Jamie Oliver, NFL star Tony Gonzalez, and Malaak Compton-Rock, charity founder and the wife of comedian Chris Rock.”

Aniston will join John Travolta, Jada Pinkett-Smith, tennis legend Andre Agassi, skateboarder Tony Hawk and racing star Danica Patrick in assisting the contestants with the various challenges. Judge Jaime Oliver couldn’t be more thrilled to work with her again — after meeting her and then-husband Brad Pitt at a private dinner party he helped cook for. From the article,

“‘Jennifer’s a friend of mine, she’s a beautiful, beautiful character,’ he tells OK!. ‘She was perfect to be a part of Oprah’s Big Give because that’s her personality — she’s a beautiful, giving person. It was lovely to have her involved, to have a friend be involved in the same show as me, and she comes along to one of the shows to pat the winners on the back.’”

No doubt that as with anything Oprah touches, this 8-episode series should be a big hit. Obviously, we really love the concept of helping out others in need and having Winfrey spearhead this effort is wonderful. Let’s hope there’s another season of giving in the works.
