This past Saturday afternoon at Hillhaven Lodge in LA, a bevy of Hollywood celebrities helped celebrate the launch of Jurlique’s new Biodynamic Beauty Range. Guests enjoyed an afternoon of relaxation and renewal with complimentary hand and food treatments using the new line and biodynamic and locally sourced food and wine.

Those in attendance included Salma Hayek, Rosanna Arquette, Paris Hilton, Stevie Wonder, Oliver Stone, Jamie-Lynn Sigler, Gerard Butler, Francis Ford Coppola, Naomie Harris, Scott Caan, Jared Leto, Ileana Douglas, Claire Forlani, Nicole Esposito, Tracey Edmonds, and Sanaa Lathan. Quite the gathering, right?

We’re a big fan of Jurlique here on the Razz — especially with all of their products being hand-sown, hand-tended, and hand-harvested from their own certified organic, biodynamic farms in South Australia.

Who Will Be Voted The 2008 Sexiest Vegetarian?

Filed under: campaigns, honors — parrish @ 6:27 pm

If you ask me, all vegetarians are sexy!! But if wanna get all literal about it, I guess not everyone can be the very sexiest!

Enter PETA’s World Sexiest Vegetarian competition. Each year PETA’s youth inspired website, PETA2.com, crowns two celebs (one male, one female) with the coveted title of the World’s Sexiest Vegetarian. While shockingly I did not make the list this year, Ecorazzi is proud to announce that many of the nominees have been showcased on our site at least once or twice.

Last year Kristen Bell and Davey Havok won the award for their supreme vegetarian sexiness, but are they strong enough to hold the title two years in a row? Some other possibilities are Natalie Portman, Hayden Panettiere, Jared Leto, Milo Ventimiglia and many, many more.

While in the past I’ve confessed an unnatural affinity to Natlie Portman, recently Hayden has really impressed me as she tries to Save The Whales Again. As for the fella’s, I say Jared Leto deserves the honor for promoting vegetarianism and raw food during his recent 60 pound weight loss.

Who do you think should win? Tell us your thoughts and then visit PETA2.com and vote your sexy little heart out!

Jared Leto Get’s Back In Shape With Raw Food Diet

Filed under: film-tv, food & drink, green and famous, healthy living, movies — parrish @ 9:10 am

Every now and then an actor does something physically exacerbating to prepare for a role. Usually it’s along the lines of gain 10 pounds, loose 10 pounds etc. However, Jared Leto took it about 1,000 steps further by gaining a whopping 60 pounds to play John Lennon’s killer, Mark David Chapman, in the new movie Chapter 27.

One report quotes Leto saying, “(I did it) eating everything you think you’re not supposed to - pizza, pasta, ice cream, but my little trick was I would take pints of chocolate Haagen Dazs and put them in the microwave and drink them. The sick thing is I would actually pour olive oil and soy sauce into the mixture as well - to get me bloated even more.”  GROSS!!!!!!

Leto, a loyal vegetarian, managed to put on pounds by piling on dairy and fat by doing stuff like “eating a large Dominoes pizza, every night for dinner.” Needless to say, he suffered some pretty major health problems, and at one point even ended up in a wheelchair. Eventually though, Leto took off the weight thanks to some good old fashion fruits and veggies. Leto says,  It took me about a year to recover,” adding that the strict vegetarian used health food to get back into shape. “Health food every day. I will eat anything that doesn’t have taste - like unsalted nuts, raw food and berries,” Jared said.

Ok, maybe he knocks raw food a little with the “doesn’t have taste” comment, but at least he recognizes the benefit of eating from the earth, and you gotta give the guy credit for staying veggie through it all.  So from all of us here at Ecorazzi: Jared, keep eating those fruits and veggies and maybe next time not so much on the whole gorging thing. Come on, gluttony is so 2007!

30 Seconds To Mars Launches Massive Environmental Campaign, Short Film

30 Seconds To Mars, one of the hottest rock bands on the planet, is launching a new environmental campaign to coincide with the release of their new short film/music video, A Beautiful Lie. The shoot marks the first time a rock group has filmed a video less than 200 miles north of the Arctic Circle in Greenland. Here’s what lead vocalist Jared Leto had to say about the experience,

“Shooting in Greenland was a dream come true and one of the most exciting adventures we’ve ever had as a band,” says 30 Seconds to Mars lead vocalist Jared Leto. “Although incredibly challenging and at times it seemed just out of our reach, once we finally arrived the beauty and magnificence of the terrain, the wonderful culture of the people, and the amazing journey itself were all inspiring beyond belief. Almost everyone has heard of global warming by now but for the people of Greenland it is a real and tangible problem of today, not an issue of tomorrow. This journey changed our lives. We hope that with this film and new website we can share, in some small way, this incredible experience with our family of friends and fans around the world.”

30 Seconds hooked up with the NRDC to reduce the impact of their shoot and also purchase offsets for that which could not be avoided. In addition, they partnered with Buzznet to create a ‘call to action’ and give fans the opportunity to upload videos to show the band and the world what they’re doing ot help the environment. They also released a new website for the short film that includes information about current environmental issues, ways for kids to participate in environmental activities, links, tips for conservation and more. Awesome, right?

You can check out the new film below:
