Matt Damon, a constant force in support of the OneXOne charity foundation, was unable to attend the 2nd Annual Gala Fundraiser for the organization last night in San Francisco due to a family emergency. A rep for the event, which Damon had been scheduled to host, told E! News that “He wouldn’t have missed this otherwise.”

Nevertheless, the event did go forward as planned – with celebrities like Charlize Theron, Jeremy Piven, David Arquette, Josh Groban, and Mia Hamm in attendance.

The evening featured a keynote address by Vicki Escarra, CEO of Feeding America, performances by Josh Groban, Carlos Santana, and the announcement of a new partnership with Charlize Theron’s African Outreach Project. Check out some pictures from the event below.

A new video has surfaced on YouTube featuring Matt Damon losing his cool with Adrian Grenier during a PSA shoot for the organization OneXOne. It’s been known for months now that Damon would have a guest appearance on Entourage promoting his clean water organization — but we’re not exactly sure if this is part of that scene, a funny outtake, or something more serious.

Of course, many of you are rolling your eyes at this moment — simply because this isn’t the first time Damon has pulled off pissed off. Back in 2006, the 38-year-old actor made a scene at the end of Jimmy Kimmel Live when he was cut-off from appearing at the end. It was hilarious — and so believable, that some people thought it was real.

Anyways, in this clip, we see some of the actors from Entourage in the background — including Jeremy Piven (who appears very much in character) and Kevin Connolly. Grenier keeps stumbling over his lines for the PSA and Damon keeps getting frustrated and eventually blows up. The only thing that’s odd is that at one point Damon calls Grenier by his real name — and not his character’s. And Adrian asks at one point if he should do it as himself or as Vince.

Anyways, we’re going with well done, but fake. What do you think? [Warning: Strong language]

“By the way, for the record, it’s the not the fish’s fault,” Piven says. “It’s a man-made problem. It’s all the mercury being dumped. Women shouldn’t eat tuna, especially when you’re pregnant.”

You might remember a few months back when Jeremy Piven got mercury poisoning, thus causing him to leave the Broadway production of Speed The Plow, thus causing the producers to get super pissed, thus causing a bunch of court nonsense, thus, thus, thus, thus!

Well Jeremy was spotted in Miami this past weekend chowing down on both calamari salad and tuna tartare. Let me do a little math for you: tuna dinner + mercury poisoning= bad idea! 

Dr. Grace Keenan told OK! magazine:

“After recovering from mercury poisoning, a patient should be avoiding foods that are known to be contaminated with mercury, such as tuna, for at least three months.”

So there — doctor’s orders! Let’s hope Piven doesn’t have a relapse! We hear mercury poisoning is a bitch!

So Piven is  a pesco-vegetarian. What makes that dangerous in today’s world is the crazy amounts of mercury often found in large game fish like Tuna, Swordfish, and Cod. And if you’re someone with Piven’s wallet, hitting up sushi a couple times a week might just be a part of the lifestyle. Back in January of 2008, the NY Times ran an investigation that found 5 out of 20 random stores and restaurants in NYC had tuna with mercury levels so high that the Food and Drug Administration could take legal action to remove the fish from the market. “No one should eat a meal of tuna with mercury levels like those found in the restaurant samples more than about once every three weeks,” said one expert.

Case in point: Entourage star Jeremy Piven was forced to leave the Broadway production of Speed The Plow this week after suffering from high levels of mercury from, according to one source, may be the result eating too much fish.

Piven’s doctor said the test revealed a “a very, very elevated level of mercury” in Mr. Piven’s blood, adding that it was five to six times the upper limit that is typically measured. Left untreated, Dr. Colker said, the condition could result in heart problems, cognitive problems, renal failure and, in very extreme cases, death.

In a recent article in the New York Times, Dr. Roberta F. White, the chairwoman of the department of environmental health at Boston University, is quoting saying that the consumption of fish high in quantities of methylmercury could cause health problems consistent with Mr. Piven’s symptoms.
