The Beach Boys Like Their Perks Organic

While some musicians require bizarre, hard to obtain food items to be supplied to them at events, The Beach Boys keep it simple and conscious and Joan Jett likes it cruelty-free.

At this year’s Riverfest in Beloit, Wisconsin, binders were made and filled with the food demands of the bands. Surprisingly, it wasn’t the younger, more outspoken acts eating with conscience about impact. Bands like Seether wanted unhealthy junk like Doritos and hot dogs while The Beach Boys asked for organic items and dolphin-safe tuna. They even requested that their food be steamed and not from a can. They wanted everything to be fresh, meaning that most of it was bought locally. Rock icon Joan Jett wanted hers all vegan.

Coordinators of the event also cut back on waste by making sure that the leftover food was used to stock the band buses.
