As Ecorazzi previously mentioned, on Sunday, April 19th, I will be moderating a discussion on Green Leadership at the Go Green Expo in NYC. 

The expert panel  will consist of: Treehugger’s Ken Rother, The Lazy Environmentalist Josh Dorfman, Riverkeeper’s Craig Michaels, Greenopia’s Gay Browne, Sierra Club’s Dan Miner and Green Debot’s Sarah Beatty.

So what’s this got to do with you? EVERYTHING!!

Besides simply asking the panel my questions, I want to give all of you the chance to chime in and get involved! Therefore, during one section of the chat I will turn the floor over to our readers and ask selected questions submitted  to the site.

In celebration of its third season premiering April 21st — featuring several new original series — the Sundance Channel has given THE GREEN a new, expanded web presence.

The slick design now features plenty of video — including some previews of shows like David de Rothschild’s ECO TRIP and Simran Sethi’s THE GOOD FIGHT. As an early bonus, Isabella Rosellini’s GREEN PORNO series now available on demand for free on the site. We especially enjoyed her latest “Why Vagina?”.

Of course, there are a few things THE GREEN has yet to reveal — such as Josh Dorfman’s new series THE LAZY ENVIRONMENTALIST. We imagine it’s because the visual effects budget — coupled with Dorfman’s unresonable demand for pure 02 at all times — has simply gotten out of control. That being said, we can’t wait to see what he has in store for us.

Titled “The Lazy Environmentalist on a Budget: Save Money. Save Time. Save the Planet.“, it’s the second eco-guide from Dorfman and a welcome addition to his growing green empire. Besides being CEO and founder of the green furniture business, Vivavi, Josh is also the spokesperson for Brita’s FilterForGood campaign to help reduce bottled water waste and for Green Works, Clorox’s line of natural cleaning products. This coming June 16th, Sundance Channel will premiere a new seven-part series called The Lazy Environmentalist featuring Dorfman seeking out environmental experts in various fields (fashion, food, business, etc.) and showing them how easy it is to transition to green.

With last year’s Go Green Expo in New York City a huge success, organizers decided to turn their eyes towards Los Angeles and give the west coast a chance to bask in a greener glow of products, companies, and special guest speakers. The fruits of their labor will be on display this weekend as the 2009 Go Green Expo opens from January 23-25 at the Los Angeles Convention Center.

Over 250 booths featuring eco-minded exhibitors will be on hand — as well as great discussions and talks from people like Mariel Hemingway, Ed Begley Jr., Peter Fonda, New York Times Bestselling Authors Julie Edelman and Bryan Au, Josh Dorfman and others. There will also be a special screening of the Sundance Award winning movie FUEL along with a provocative discussion with the movies’ director Josh Tickell and some of the Expo attending celebrities.

“We are elated to have so many speakers, panels, nonprofit organization and businesses under one roof to share sustainability best practices and help educate the public,” says Bradford Rand, President and CEO of Go Green Expo. “What seems to be a great reflection of the growing green economy even in these tough economic times, we are pleased to see the LA show booth space is entirely sold out.”

The show will premiere on July 16th. We’ll probably be watching something else — like repeats of MASH — but if nothing else is on, we’d recommend watching ‘Lazy’. Just make sure you’ve sufficiently consumed mass quantities of your favorite liquor to make it through the whole episode. Putting the sound on mute and letting rip Dark Side Of The Moon is also advised. Or the soundtrack to Muppets Take Manhattan.

US Magazine is devoting a several page spread in their July 28th issue to what celebrities are doing to be more green — but they’re not letting the gloss distract from the real issue: these people have huge carbon footprints! Of course, he also has a popular book out in stores (and one in development), a successful sustainable furniture business named Vivai, many speaking engagements, and a calendar. Yes, a friggin’ 365 “Go Green” calendar based on the ‘Lazy’ brand. How cool is that?

So, we knew it was only a matter of time before ‘Lazy’ made its impact somewhere else — and we’re happy to say that Sundance Channel’s THE GREEN will be the new home of our favorite practical environmentalist. For Season 3, Sundance will premiere The Lazy Environmentalist with Josh Dorfman as a regular series revolving around green issues and cool new eco-friendly products.

After speaking with Josh last weekend, the radio show may also find rebirth through a yet unnamed partner. We’re hopeful this “Ryan Seacrest of the green world” continues growing his empire through as many media outlets as possible. We recently sent him five questions to answer about the future — and if a musical version of his show might be in the works. Check out his responses after the jump.

What can I do to remember to bring with me reusable cloth bags to the supermarket?

Tie a smaller, more convenient reusable bag like a Baggu Bag around your wrist as a reminder.

Will you openly challenge Bill Nye the Science Guy to a duel on your new show? If so, will you use rapiers or muskets?

Sure. We’ll use biodegradable, straw beach mats and whack each other on the head until he screams “Global Warming is not a conspiracy!” It’ll be part of our real estate episode on buying future oceanfront property in Arizona.

When can we expect The Lazy Environmentalist musical?

Probably in 2011. I’m still finalizing the song list for my first musical, Menachim and the Dancing Shiksas, which is based on the life and times of Irving Berlin.

What is a Yonker?

Yonker? I hardly know her.

After television, what’s next?

I’ll run for public office. I hear so many environmentalists saying that to effect change we all have to vote. I’m not entirely sure that’s true, but since I hear fewer environmentalists saying that to effect change we all have to watch tv, maybe they know something I don’t.
