Justin Timberlake And Jessica Biel: Animal Abuse Or Survival?

Filed under: animals, food & drink — parrish @ 5:56 pm

This story’s a little silly, but what the hell — so am I. OK, so ya’ll know that Justin Timberlake is currently dating Hollywood hottie Jessica Biel. Well it turns out that Biel is a pretty awful cook and earlier this week, after Biel attempted to make a romantic meal, Justin resorted to desperate measures to save himself.

A source said: “Jessica made Justin this really disgusting meal. He didn’t like it, so when she went out to run some errands he tried to slip the remaining food to Jessica’s Pit Bull Terrier Tina. But as soon as Tina had eaten it, she threw up! When Jessica got back, she asked Justin what he thought of the food and he told her it was delicious. But he finally confessed and she found the congealed food in a pile by Tina’s water bowl.” Oh sick!!

Rumor has it that Justin is planning to ask Jessica for her hand in marriage sometime in the near future. Dude, a little advice: either build up that digestive system or get ready for a lifetime of cooking. Then again they’re both loaded. 20 dollars says they have a live in personal chef by the end of week one. At least I hope they do for the sake of their pets.

Beyond Zebra Scores With The ESPY Awards

Filed under: events, events: la, film-tv, honors, sports, television — meghan @ 12:43 pm

ESPN’s annual celebration of the year’s best moments in sports will get a green boost this year.  The network has enlisted the help of Beyond Zebra, Inc., a certified woman-owned ad agency specializing in eco-friendly merchandise and promotional gear, to create an environmental message for the ESPY Awards. BZI has produced 100% EcoSpun (post-consumer recycled soda bottles) lanyards, biodegradable sport bottles, and sustainable bamboo/charcoal apparel for the behind-the-scenes and celebrity crew of the show.  Host Justin Timberlake and presenters Lance Armstrong and David Beckham, along with more of the world’s biggest athletes and celebs, will receive the goodies. BZI even provided bicycle shirts for the ESPY bartenders, whose mixing and blending activities will be powered by bicycle. What message that sends about biking under the influence is unclear, but who wouldn’t want to enjoy a freshly-pedaled margarita?

The ESPY Awards take place tonight and will be televised on ESPN and ESPN HD July 20, 2008, at 9 p.m./ET.

Justin Timberlake’s Dirty Fleet

Filed under: transport — lori @ 8:44 am

Has the greening influence of his ex-girlfriend uber-eco Cameron Diaz faded for Justin Timberlake? He and Jessica Biel were seen leaving a nightclub in L.A. driving off in this handsome Jeep Rubicon which gets an ugly 15 miles per gallon! I know they’re both big time jocks, and this a tough looking 4×4, but how often is he needing to scramble over a boulder?

Justin is ranked #10 in a list of celebrities owning the least eco-friendly fleet of cars in the world! I guess the Jeep is a step up from the 10mpg Bentley he usually rolls in.

When we know better, we do better…right? You’d think…Here’s a few 2007 quotes from the fleet-footed dancer excerpted from The Green Book:

“And it all goes back to the environment, and our relationship to it, and what we can do to help ourselves.”

“I hadn’t really thought about how much you emit on tour, how much all those trucks emit. In your mind, you simply don”t think about all that pollution.”

“Like I said, there’s so much. I wanted to save the world in the palm of my hand.”

It’s time to bring sexy back…in a hybrid.

Justin Timberlake Brings Charity Back To Memphis

You see what I did there?

Filed under: music — michael @ 9:21 am

timberlake.jpgHoping that future aspiring singers get the same opportunities he did, Justin Timberlake last week split $200,000 between two music organizations in his home town of Memphis, Tennessee. $100,000 went to the Memphis Rock ‘n’ Soul Museum and the same figure again to the Memphis Music Foundation. From the article,

“Speaking about the donations, Justin said: ‘Music education and keeping the legacy of Memphis music alive has always been important to me. That is why I will always continue to support my hometown the same way they have always supported me.’”

Timberlake is currently in Memphis filming the independent film The Open Road — you can also see him make a cameo in the new Mike Meyers comedy The Love Guru.

KFC Uses Celebrities As They Attempt To Look Charitable

Filed under: animals, campaigns, events, food & drink, not green, television — parrish @ 3:24 pm

Does KFC really have a heart? The answer to that question is: NO!! I’m sorry, but as someone who cares even a smidgen about the well being of animals, I really can’t write anything positive about KFC…but it looks like they sure want me to.

Kentucky Fried Cruelty has just introduced a promotion for their new hot wings (aka spicy heart attack sticks) that will hopefully gain them some Super Bowl airtime.  Here’s the deal: if any football player or celebrity performer does the chicken dance during the Super Bowl on Feb. 3, KFC will donate $260,000 to the KFC Colonel’s Scholars Program, a scholarship that gives money to high school seniors who plan on attending public in-state schools.

KFC is notoriously known for having some of the most brutal and horrific slaughter houses and refusing, under any amount of pressure, to do ANYTHING that might improve the conditions for their animals.  You know I’m all for giving credit where credit is due (even if it’s a big corporation that I don’t particularly like) but this “generous” act is so obviously just a poorly disguised ploy to steal some precious airtime.

The unofficial rumor is that Justin Timberlake and Tom Petty will be among some of the celebrity performers and that Ryan Secrest will also be hanging around.  Let’s hope none of them dance for the devil.

To learn more about why you should never, ever, in a million years, ever support KFC…visit Kentucky Fried Cruelty.
