The model had hooked up with top-shop to design some fur-free fashions and the future looked bright. Flowers and a certificate of appreciation were even sent by the animal rights organization.

Then, in March of last year, Kate was seen carrying a furry shoal of some kind. Then — PETA named her one of 2008’s “Worst Dressed” celebrities. Seems like the party is over — especially after photos surfaced last night showing the model drapped in a foxy fur coat. Ugh.

No doubt, Stella McCartney is less than thrilled.

Stella McCartney may be good friends with model Kate Moss, but the recent medieval-themed birthday party for the 35-year-old model was not necessarily an enjoyable experience. A strict vegetarian and animal-rights activist, McCartney reportedly was not impressed with the spit-roast pig, lobster, langoustines, caviar and wild salmon. From the article,

One guest said the party was ‘out of this world’ but strict vegetarian Stella McCartney was reportedly appalled by Kate’s choice of suckling pig. A source said: ‘Stella went up to Kate and slapped her playfully on the arm. Stella said, ‘Hey, missy, couldn’t you have got a fake deer’s head?’ Stella also told her she was unimpressed by the stuffed birds, squirrels and fur rugs.’

I guess we shouldn’t be surprised by the fur. PETA named Moss one of its “Worst Dressed” Celebrities of 2008.

To read more on the celebration — which cost close to $300,000 — jump here.

There’s a war of words happening between an environmental charity and an “earth-friendly nightclub” over a fund-raising party being held in Ibiza. The UK-based Club4Climate, which is considered Britain’s first ecological nightclub, wants people to fly to an island off the Spanish coast where it claims “you can save the world drinking cocktails next to the pool.” All of the money raised is designated to go to the environmental charity Friends of the Earth USA.

Problem is, FOE USA wants nothing to do with the event. In a released statement on their website, the group says, “There is no such affiliation. Friends of the Earth does not support Club4Climate and has not given it permission to use its logo. We are not accepting financial contributions from Club4Climate. Aircraft emit large quantities of heat-trapping gases, and the idea of flying somewhere to have a party is antithetical to fighting global warming. Solving the climate crisis requires hard work and a phaseout of our use of fossil fuels, through conservation measures as well as a transition to clean forms of energy, such as wind and solar power. Club4Climate cannot “save the world” with a party and should not claim it can do so.”

How do you like them apples? Club4Climate isn’t deterred in the least; their founder Dr. Earth (really? that’s your shtick?) said the following: “Friends of the Earth USA’s stance that anyone who has ever driven a car or flown in a plane is environmentally unfriendly is ludicrous. Climate change requires urgent action from everyone. It’s not all or not at all.”

Dr. Earth added, “..but we’re going to give them the money anyway.”

Yea, well, someone should tell this guy that throwing a party on an island and encouraging people from all over the world to fly there for the environment is stupid. As SmartPlanet mentions, there’s no indication that the Pikes Hotel gig has any ‘green’ elements. But hey, at least you get to see Kate Moss make her DJ-ing debut.

Thrill.

Back in march, it was rumored that troubled singer Amy Winehouse was banking $700,000 to sing at the grand opening of a new eco-nightclub in Rotterdam, Netherlands. That, just like everything else tied to the singer’s name, apparently fell through. Now, however, the Wino is being tied to the opening of yet another eco-nightclub — this time in London. We don’t expect her to sing — who does these days? But she will be sharing company with Supermodel Kate Moss, Conservative Party leader David Cameron, and London Mayor Boris Johnson at what’s expected to be a star-studded grand opening.

Just like the club in the Netherlands, this one (called Surya – Sanskrit for Sun God) features a dancefloor that uses the concept of piezoelectricity to generate power. Basically, the more dancers feel the beat and shift their weight, the more electricity is created. Organizers estimate that a good crowd out there breaking it down to something like “Baby Got Back” will generate almost 60% of the club’s energy needs. Coldplay will not be allowed.

The bathrooms have air flush, waterless urinals and low flush toilets and the club will recycle glass, metal, plastic and paper products used in its bar. The site also has its own wind turbine and solar energy system — something that will provide the energy needs of 14 to 20 local residents, as well as the business. “We are the first free energy-donating business in the world,” said owner Andrew Charalambous.

You can check out the rest of the green details here.

From the article,

“I opened her [Moss's] fridge to see what was organic and there was nothing. I started telling her how important it is for her little girl,” said Jo, founder of Jo Wood Organics. And the mom of five-year-old Lila Grace is now almost 100% converted, including using Jo’s beauty line. “Kate loves the stuff, she loves all the oils,” adds Wood. As for the model’s bright complexion, Wood chalks it up to her new organic food regimen. “It’s amazing she can get away with it. She still likes to have a good party, but her skin looks good still. I told her! You have to look after your skin but it’s what you put in you as well.”

Jo should have added that what you wear also makes a difference. Most recently Kate Moss was spotted wearing a massive fur coat — much to the chagrin of those who thought she might have moved on from the practice. Here’s to hoping her new green ways will carry-over into other areas of her life.

In the past, Ronson has designed for celebrities like Lindsey Lohan, Kate Moss, Jessica Simpson and Gwen Stefani, but until recently she was rather indifferent on the whole fur issue. Then, last November, Ronson attended The HSUS’ “Cool vs. Cruel” awards ceremony and quickly joined the ranks of such renowned designers as Calvin Klein, Ralph Lauren, Stella McCartney and Tommy Hilfiger by saying “Hell frigin NO!!” to “fashionable” fur!

Ronson takes the cruelty-free lifestyle a step further by giving out HSUS fur-free buttons in her downtown NYC store. Plus, during fashion week, she will be attaching red heart-shaped “No Fur” buttons to each of her faux fur jackets. So PETA members, listen up: if you see someone walking down the street in a fur coat, do not-I repeat-DO NOT spray paint, pee on, or light it on fire until you’ve checked for the red heart-shaped fur-free button. Got it?

If I’ve tickled your fancy with all this faux fur banter, then you should totally check out her show on Monday, February 4th, at 3:00 pm at the Altman Building (135 West 18th St.) right here in NYC!! Oh yeah, and tell them Ecorazzi sent you!
