Kelly Rowland Gets STD Test For Charity

Filed under: events, healthy living — parrish @ 12:38 pm

Kelly Rowland ain’t no bugaboo (Destiny’s Child reference…anybody?). Rowland has decided to undergo an HIV and Aids test in Africa to raise awareness about diseases and hopefully increase the amount of young people getting tested.

Rowland has worked with this cause before as the ambassador for MTV’s Staying Alive Foundation – an initiative to reduce discrimination against HIV and AIDS victims. She has also visited projects in Tanzania and Kenya to promote the charity.

Rowland says: “Ignorance is not bliss when it comes to HIV infection, and it is important for everyone to know their HIV status. The quicker you know your status, the sooner you can receive treatment if you’re HIV+, and reduce the risk of inadvertently infecting future partners.”

Help Kelly help you! If you haven’t been tested recently, visit hivtest.org and find a location near you!

The Green Quote: Kelly Rowland Sends Her Apologies To Planet Earth

“I prefer a big truck like a Range Rover. I drive one when I’m at home. I’m totally a Texas girl at heart. Put me in a cowboy hat behind the wheel of a massive truck and I’m happy. Driving a truck has been my dream since I was a little girl. My car’s like a baby, it means everything to me. I think about her every day. My sister’s hugely into environmental stuff, and she gives me a lot of heartache about it. She’s got a Lexus Hybrid car but that thing doesn’t look fun. When Range Rover makes a hybrid I’ll go green. Until then, my apologies to Planet Earth.”

— Singer Kelly Rowland on why going green doesn’t look like “any fun”
