Mariah Carey, Stella McCartney To Fight Fur With PETA For London Fashion Week

PETA is pulling together some big celebrity names for the launch of their 2009 “Fur is a Drag” fashion show on the eve of London Fashion Week. Of course, as you would expect, this is not going to be your standard fashion catwalk. MTV UK gives us the deets:
The London party will feature a parody of a fur runway show, cross-dressing models will be sporting fur clothing that will be accessorized with paint and animal traps. Mariah Carey and Sex & The City star Kim Cattral have donated old coats to be worn in the show after having a change of mind about wearing fur, and to perfect the look, Stella McCartney is providing the shoes
Cross-dressing models with traps and paint?! I love it! And so does Pamela Anderson. “I wish I could be in London for the Fur is a Drag show, not just to support PETA, but because I think a drag queen should play me in a film about my life and I’m always on the lookout!”

When it comes to sticking to your guns, it’s great to read stories of celebrities turning away from big paychecks to support a cause. Take Lenoa Lewis — she recently rejected a more than $1.7 million offer from Harrods boss Mohammed Fayed to open this year’s summer sale because the department store sells fur.
Sure Kim Cattrall is my mother’s age, but she’s still dreamy…especially when she gets all activisty on me.
A couple weeks ago, images leaked from the set of the Sex and the City film with Kim Cattrall’s character, Samantha, upset over red paint thrown on her white fur coat. The scene had some unnamed off-screen organization dousing the actress and decrying the use of animal pelts. Amazingly, four separate fur coats were required to shoot that one scene!
