Stars Design Stars In Rockefeller Center For Children’s Charity

Filed under: campaigns, donations, events — parrish @ 12:39 pm

The air’s a bit chillier and the cider is a bit…mullier (?) and that can only mean one thing: THE HOLIDAYS ARE HERE!

Here in New York the Christmas Tree at Rockefeller Center is a pretty big tradition and we’re excited to hear that this year they’re decking the halls with a charity initiative that’s sure to inspire goodwill in everyone!

Stars like Fergie ,Jennifer Garner, Ellen DeGeneres, Kristin Chenoweth, Forest and Keisha Whitaker and more have designed Swarovski stars for Rockefeller Center that will be auctioned off to benefit Clothes Off Our Back – a non-profit organization that contributes to children’s charities. On top of all of that awesomeness, Swarovski is donating $250,000 from the sales of its Annual Edition holiday ornament to the charity.

“I’m happy being a part of this Swarovski program as celebrities and designers come together offering their talents to benefit the lives of children in positive ways,” said Fergie. “Swarovski’s partnership with Clothes Off Our Back brings cheer to children across the globe.”

The famous stars will be auctioned from now until December 10th, so make sure you stop by ClothesOffOurBack.org and bid, bid, bid! Happy Holidays!

PETA Pleads with Heidi Klum: “Don’t Wear Fur!”

Filed under: animals, fashion — sara @ 8:47 am

You might have already learned from Ecorazzi that Armani has double-crossed PETA in its past pledge to go fur-free. In a huge “Oh no you didn’t!” measure, PETA immediately started asking Armani wearers to boycott the company. Last week we learned that Glenn Close and Cate Blanchett were sent anti-Armani letters, following past letters to Tom Cruise, Katie Holmes and Matthew McConaughey. Gillian Anderson was also recruited to help end the cruelty.

This week, PETA’s keeping up the momentum with pleas to Heidi Klum to use her star power and refuse to wear Armani after she, like Close, sported a design from the company at the Emmy’s. A letter has also been sent to Kristin Chenoweth of Pushing Daisies fame, another Emmy Armani-Wearer.

Do you think that these stars will pledge to go Armani-free until the company itself goes fur-free? Your guess is as good as mine. But one thing’s for sure: if you’re famous and you’re wearing Armani, you’re gonna get a letter from PETA. When PETA’s not happy, nobody’s happy!

flowersGoogle, which essentially has the economy of a small country, has answered Al Gore’s call to come up with a plan to reduce the United State’s dependence on fossil fuels. Google says the plan would cost about $4.4 trillion but over a 22-year period would save a net of about $1 trillion and create new jobs.
