On her MySpace page, Conrad shot back at the accusations writing,

“I would like to address some of the internet rumors regarding what happened at an event I attended in New York on Tuesday. I was invited by “Animal Fair Magazine” to attend a charity event, “Paws For Style” fashion show. I have always been a supporter of animal causes. I own 2 rescue animals and this sounded like a great event. I agreed to pose for the cover of the magazine, host the event, do press at the event and donate clothing, all of which I did. I was not aware of any other commitments. I was not paid to attend the event and my hotel room was donated to the charity. I also made a voluntary donation to the Humane Society for more then the cost of my airfare so there would be no expense to the charity. I have always been responsible and keep my word on all commitments. I am extremely hurt and disappointed that Wendy Diamond would go to the press and attack me with untrue statements. Anyone who knows me, knows this is not the kind of person I am or who my parent’s raised me to be. It’s just embarrassing that people are saying these things about me. I was trying to do a good thing and help out a charity by doing everything I agreed to do. I continue to support the Humane Society, as it is a wonderful organization.”

Booya! Gotta give props to the girl for fighting back. Question is, who’s right?

Power of Paws is a new initiative that educates people about the mutual health benefits of interacting with pets. Their program is intended to give people new reasons and ways to to build and strengthen the bond with their pets for better mental, emotional and physical health.

I recently took a trip to their website, and while I was excited to see this kind of program, I couldn’t help but notice about 16 trillion corporate sponsors. While I recognize that these days corporate sponsors are a necessity for most companies, I just hope the man doesn’t try and ruin everything. Know what I’m saying?

I’ll be real honest….I HATE THAT DAMN SHOW THE HILLS! The girl I’m kinda seeing thinks it’s absolutely smashing and so I’ve tried, I’ve really tried, to find in it some redeeming qualities, but a bunch of flighty twenty somethings with way more money than I’ll ever see, running around LA in gas-guzzling SUV’s makes me sick to my stomach. But hey, even though I don’t like the show doesn’t mean I can’t support the cast when they do good deeds. And since there’s no way that Heidi’s getting my vote, I guess I’m playing on Team Lauren.

Lauren Conrad made the vegan in me smile when she attended the Animal Fair Media’s 2008 “Paws For Style” at Arena yesterday in New York City. You know, I’d never heard of Animal Fair before researching this event, but apparently each issue is dedicated to highlighting non-profit animal organizations. OK, I’m in!

True, Lauren was probably only there because she’s on the cover of the latest issue, but still it’s always nice to see famous faces at any event that praises the achievements of non-profits…no matter what the reason.  So yes, I’ll say it: I’m now officially on Team Lauren. Sorry Heidi, but you’re just too much for me!

Such is the case with Lauren Conrad and her recent fight to stop the slaughter of seals in Canada. Ecorazzi reported earlier about this horrific problem when Pamela Anderson used her fame to help make a difference, and now it looks like Lauren is speaking out too.

Lauren said, “I am a huge animal lover and that includes seals. I think the killing of innocent baby seals is awful and should definitely not be allowed.”

Like Lauren and Pamela, other celebrities that have spoken out on behalf of seal, including Hayden Panettiere and Sienna Miller. America’s Next Top Model judge Nigel Barker even designed a t-shirt that says “Make A Fashion Statement, Save the Seals.” However, I find that fishy (no pun intended) after Nigel was so willing to sit back and allow that disgusting meat locker photo shoot on ANTM a couple weeks ago.
