Will Leona Lewis Become Topshop’s Next Celebrity Designer?

Filed under: fashion, green and famous, shopping — parrish @ 2:38 pm

Don’t get too excited Ecorazzi readers – this is JUST a rumor. So the word on the street (and by street I mean internet) is that Leona Lewis is in talks with Sir Phillip Green to launch her own vegan clothing line at Topshop –  a chain of stores abroad owned by Green.

A source told Sun magazine, “Philip and Leona have a dinner booked in later this month. They have fitted it in after he returns from Ibiza and before she heads back to the States. He knows she is emerging into one of the world’s top pop stars and wants to discuss her doing her own Topshop range.”

Now as many of you know Leona was crowned PETA’s Sexiest Vegetarian Of 2008, but it isn’t just animal issues that Leona supports. It’s a known fact that Lewis tries to live her life as ethically as possible and won’t even wear diamonds because she doesn’t know how they’re sourced.

So would you buy a Leona Lewis designed outfit? Tell Ecorazzi what you think!

Leona Lewis Strikes A Pose For The Elephant Project

Filed under: campaigns, donations — parrish @ 11:29 am

Leona Lewis might be PETA’s Sexiest Vegetarian of 2008, but that doesn’t mean her work stops with animals! Leona recently lent her famous face to the Elephant Project – an organization that raises money and awareness for the Alzheimer’s Association.

The Elephant Foundation was started by David Niederhoffer after he watched his grandfather suffer with the disease and decided to take action. To raise money, David has celebrities pose with a stuffed elephant and sign an Elephant Project card which is then auctioned off.  The winner of the auction receives an 8×10 of their chose star, a signed card and the stuffed animal. So far Hollywood hotshots like Zac EfronAdam SandlerJulie Andrews, and MANY more have donated their time to help raise over 11,000 dollars for the foundation.

The Summer 2008 round of Elephant Project auctions began yesterday with five to six auctions going live each day until Sunday, July 27th. So hurry on over to ElephantProject.org and bid, bid, bid!

PETA Announces Sexiest Vegetarians Of 2008

Filed under: contests, green and famous, honors — parrish @ 12:33 pm

If you ask me being a vegetarian in itself is pretty damn sexy, but each year the folks over at PETA hold a friendly little competition to find out who is the very, very sexiest vegetarian of them all. In the past, winners have included Kevin Eubanks, Carrie Underwood, Prince, Kristen Bell and many others. Well the votes have been tallied (the Florida votes were counted twice) and the winners this year are…

Drum roll please…

LEONA LEWIS AND ANTHONY KIEDIS!!!

It just so happens that both of the winners are from the music industry and both are dedicated vegans. Kiedis recently went vegan after learning about the worldwide depletion of fish and after a doctor recommended a healthy vegan diet for his son. “Soon after I [went vegan] I saw some documentary footage of what happens in the factory farming of cows …. It sealed the deal.”

Leona is equally passionate about her beliefs and says:  ”I am vegetarian so I don’t have clothes, shoes or bags made from leather or suede or any animal products. … I’m on a mission.”  A hot vegetarian on a mission…is there ANYTHING sexier than that?

So Leona and Anthony — from us to you, a big Ecorazzi congrats for being voted the sexiest vegetarians of 2008. If YOU have the hankering for a little veggie action in your life visit goveg.com and Pledge Veg for 30 days! Just think, maybe one day YOU can be the sexiest vegetarian alive…you’ll just have to beat me first!

Leona Lewis Designs A Vegan Fashion Line

Filed under: green and famous — parrish @ 3:29 pm

Looks like someone is giving Natalie Portman a run for her money!!!

The word on the street (and by street I mean web) is that pop star Leona Lewis is in negotiations to launch her very own vegan fashion line. Leona has been an animal rights supporter for years and hopes her fashion line will give fellow vegans more options!

A source tells British magazine Hello, “She’s always adored animals since she was a little girl and has been a vegetarian since the age of 12. The reason she doesn’t wear diamonds is because she doesn’t know how they have been sourced. It was for this reason that she is determined to set up her own ethical fashion range and sell the goods at high street prices.”

Well coming from a chick who keeps a vegetarian lifestyle, wears no leather and is worried about how diamonds are sourced, I trust that her line will not only be sensitive to the animals, but sensitive to the earth as well. Sounds to me like there’s just one question remaining – Leona, will you marry me?
