Fur-wearers beware! The latest news on the celebrity activism circuit is that Sharon Stone and the Olsen twins have seen their stars on the Hollywood Walk of Fame defaced with the words “Fur Hag” by anti-fur protesters.

Both the twins and Stone are frequent fur-wearers and have been subject to various protests and public demonstrations over the years from those who disagree with their cruel fashion sense.

While I’m never shy about my stance on fur, I am 100 percent against any and all acts of vandalism or destruction in the name of a peaceful goal like animal-rights. Personally I see nothing wrong with protests, but believe acts of vandalism to not only be counter-productive to our mission, but highly ineffective. Hey, but that’s just me!

Just because Governor Sarah Palin is taking a brief respite from the spotlight (Sadly, she will probably be back) doesn’t mean PETA is keen to let her off the hook. The former Republican Vice-Presidential nominee is well known for her thin animal rights record — and PETA is giving everyone the chance to chuck a virtual snowball her way.

It’s all part of a new online game that also includes Madonna, Mary Kate and Ashley Olsen, and the Colonel from KFC. “Make the holidays safe by fighting back against notorious animal abusers,” the site says. Turns out not everyone in Palin-land is taking the dig quietly.

According to PETA, someone claiming to be a Palin rep called the organization and threatened to sue if the game wasn’t taken down. PETA’s Vice President Bruce Friedrich said, “Sarah Palin is a bully who never saw an animal she didn’t want to kill, so it’s not surprising that her staff would try to intimidate us anonymously and then backtrack when called out. Our game represents a fun way to focus attention on a very serious subject — cruelty to animals supported by Sarah Palin and other targets of the game — and we have no intention of taking it down in response to these pathetic attempts at intimidation.”

According to the LA Times, Palin’s Communications Director, Bill McAllister, says the whole thing is a lie. “We take all kinds of shots all the time,” he says.”We realize we’re a fair target. I could care less about the game.”

Neither are the celebs featured in the book. The PR company that represents Tea Leoni, Kate Walsh, Felicity Huffman, Mary-Kate Olsen, and Melissa George has asked for their names to not be associated with the Leviev, and Oxfam Ambassador Kristin Davis has had her photo removed from Leviev’s website. New York rights coalition Adalah-NY has contacted others and asked them to renounce the company as well, including Susan Sarandon (who wrote the book’s introduction), Vanessa Williams, Kate Hudson, Molly Sims, and Gina Gershon.

An Oxfam America spokesperson, Adrienne Smith, said, “Oxfam reiterates our policy that we are not and never will be partners or beneficiaries of Leviev because of both his mining practices and his support of Israeli settlements on Occupied Palestinian Lands which is in contravention of International Law and a major obstacle in the road to peace… Oxfam is disturbed to find ourselves used in this way and we intend to be proactive in informing those in our community about the deliberate strategy of Leviev Diamonds to connect itself with unwitting charities and celebrities.”

The Olsen Twins are having a book signing tomorrow in NYC to celebrate the launch of their new coffee table book titled “Influence“. This odd, somewhat narcissistic picture-book, seeks to share the Olsen’s own pop culture influence and show us how they got to be so darn fashionable.

Of course, almost everyone outside the Olsen’s reality distortion field will tell you their fashion sense is, well, ‘interesting’. Ask PETA, and they’ll point you to their website ‘The Trollsen Twins‘ — which nails Ashley and Mary Kate on their use of fur and lack of compassion towards animals.

Using that theme — and just in time for Halloween — PETA is planning on holding a protest tomorrow during the book signing at the Barnes & Noble on 33 E. 17th St. at noon. Members of peta2 will wear scary “Trollsen Twins” masks and hold signs that show animals killed for fur next to the taglines “Hairy Kate and Trashley Olsen: Fur Tramps” and “Trollsens: Fur Hags From Hell”.

“From their ghoulish garb to their skeletal frames, every day is Halloween if you’re an Olsen twin,” says Dan Shannon, PETA’s assistant director of youth campaigns. “It’s frightening how out of touch Mary-Kate and Ashley are–no industry is more violent or bloody than the fur trade.”

It’s a well known fact that PETA and Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen are not the best of pals. The twins have been a regular target for the organization’s anti-fur campaigns — and continue to ignore them by wearing increasingly hideous animal skins and outfits.

Not one to back down, PETA has an online game called “Dress Up The Trollsens” where users can add bloody carcasses and other animal parts to the twin of their choice. Just in time to Halloween, you can also order a “Hairy-Kate and a Trashley” mask because “only someone as heartless as a troll would wear the skins of dead animals.”

According to the Environmental Working Group, a non-profit organization dedicated to protecting human health and the environment, the Olsen twins have licensed their names to fragrance products deemed “high hazards” on the group’s newly release safety list. Out of the 8 fragrances listed, 5 are described as “high hazards”, with the others in the moderate range. The comsmetics are volatile to humans because of their dense concentration of hamful cancer-causing carcinogens.

Didn’t the Joker try something like this in the first Batman movie?

Perez shed some additional light on the issue saying,

“Did you know that the unfortunate reality is that the government does not currently require health studies or pre-market testing for products before they are sold? According to the FDA’s Office of Cosmetics and Colors, the “FDA cannot require companies to do safety testing of their cosmetic products before manufacturing,” AND “…a cosmetic manufacturer may use almost any raw material as a cosmetic ingredient and market the product without an approval from FDA.”

Perhaps all of those celebrities going with their natural smell are on to something…

A “source” told the National Enquirer that “Mary-Kate got closest insurance. She has pieces that cost over $25,000 each. She has a vintage Chanel bag that is worth over $40,000!” And that’s nothing!! In 2005 Mary Kate and Ashley were said to be worth a combined net worth of $300 million dollars!!  Did anyone else just throw up a little?

For the past few months, Olsen has been under attack by PETA for her cruel fashion sense and has no shame about wearing fur on…well pretty much everything. Luckily it seems that these days Mary Kate’s FURocious fashion sense represents a minority. Many Hollywood celebs think that fur sucks and wants you to know all about it! Last year the animal rights organization launch an attack against the tiny twins labeling them as the Trollsen Twins and releasing posters bearing the slogan ” Fur Is Worn By Beautiful Animals and Ugly People.” 

PETA says: ”The Trollsen Twins are almost 22 – old enough to know better than to wear the skins of animals, right? Apparently not. The twins are still sporting as much fur as ever. Since they seem to be in such dire need of extra hair on their bodies, let’s give them some of ours – and send a strong message while we’re at it. Save that hair in a bag and mail it to the twins with a note that says, ‘Please, use my hair instead of the animals.’ Happy Birthday.”

If you read Ecorazzi regularly you know that while I have great respect for PETA I don’t always agree with their tactics, but this idea totally cracks me up. So chop off some of those locks and let the Olsens know what you think! Do we have any designers in the house? I say we make them a special Ecorazzi human hair coat…anyone?
