If May Is “Pregnancy Awareness Month”, What Does That Make August?

Ed note: This post comes to us from our new west coast contributor, the fabulous Tracy Metro. Check out her awesome website here.

Green heiress and holistic expert, Anna Getty, has apparently deemed May Pregnancy Awareness Month (PAM) since it’s the month most often associated with mothers and fertility… I mean… Mother’s Day DOES fall in this month, after all! To kick it off on May 1st, Anna hosted a laid-back PAM shindig in honor of mothers and expecting mothers at the Skirball Center in Los Angeles. I was there and was happy to see quite a few eco-minded celebrity moms (and even a few dads) in attendance.

Fresh out of the stirrups toting along 7 week old son, Braden, Melissa Joan Hart told the Razz that her drug-free birth was made possible with the help of hypno-birthing classes. However, she said “natural childbirth isn’t right for everyone.” Hart may make no judgments on how you get the kid out… but I’d like to ask that to a few woman as they are actually pushing an 11 lb bowling ball through their vajayjays.

The very sexy Brooke Burke credits her trés hot post-pregnancy body to her very own line of belly wraps, called Baboosh Baby. Apparently, everyone around the world wraps their bellies after pregnancy except US mommies. Brook says “it’s an age old concept” that wasn’t being represented in the US, so she started the line in 2007.

Diane Farr, expectant mommy of twins and star of NUMB3RS, shared with the Razz that before she purchases her next car to tote around the impending brood, she and Dr Paul Song (Lisa Ling’s husband) are trying to figure out how much radiation is emitted from hybrid car batteries. Oy, as if I wasn’t paranoid enough! My husband and I each have a Prius, so she better find out soon!

Melissa Joan Hart To Be The Next Top Chef?

Filed under: food & drink, green and famous, magazines — parrish @ 11:01 am

Melissa Joan Hart is back in the news again!

Just a few days ago, Ecorazzi told you that Melissa spent a little one on one time with OK Magazine dishing about her recent pregnancy and using “hypnobirthing.” In the article, Melissa gives props to her friend, Kellie Martin, for introducing her to the natural birthing method.

Now it looks like Melissa and her birthing buddy are teaming up again, but this time they mean business. Hart recently told In Touch that she and Martin plan on opening a restaurant together. The ex-Clarissa Explains It All star said: “I’m taking a course on opening a restaurant at UCLA. When you’re an actor, all that downtime when you’re not working is killer, so I want to have something fun on the side that I can do.” Hart won’t reveal too much, claiming: “It’s super-secret because no one else has anything like it.”

Can I guess? Can I guess? I bet whatever kind of food they serve it will definitely have a natural/organic twist to it. But that’s just me! What do you think Ecorazzi readers? Post a comment and tell us what you think the “super-secret” restaurant might be like.

Melissa Joan Hart Gives Birth The Natural Way

Filed under: babies and bumps, thegreenpicture — parrish @ 11:53 am

I’ll be honest, it makes me feel REALLY old when Melissa Joan Hart starts having children. As a kid I watched just about every episode of Clarissa Explains It All and the thought of Clarissa now having her own family (possible spin-off?) really freaks me out!

However, I guess my feelings weren’t taken into account because Melissa recently gave birth to her second child and opened up to OK magazine about all the gory details. And well, right now we’re a little baby crazy at Ecorazzi anyway after our co-founder, Rebecca Carter, gave birth last week.

Like Rebecca, Melissa had a “natural” birth and said ” My friend Kellie Martin introduced me to the whole hypnobirthing idea. It is a special way of getting through a pregnancy without an epidural or inducing. “

I’m a dude who has no interest in babies anytime soon so I had to do a little research about “hypnobirthing”. Turns out, hypnobirthing is “a stress-free method of birthing that teaches a mother, along with her birthing companion, the art and joy of experiencing birth in an easier, more comfortable, and often pain-free manner that most nearly mirrors nature.” Groovy!

I guess it worked for Melissa because she went on to reveal that her “recovery was so much better this time around. I did the birth drug-free, and I’m not sure if it is because I did it drug-free or because he was my second baby, but I am up and about much easier this time. Last time I was unable to get out of bed for about eight weeks! “

Congrats Melissa on your brand new baby and good luck getting back in the game. Oh and I’m serious about that Clarissa spin-off thing. I’ll have my people call your people.
