Recently Hardin and some of the Chicago cast took to the Empire State Building’s observation deck to commemmorate National Wear Red Day — a part of Go Red for Women’s ongoing campaign to raise awareness of heart disease.

In case you didn’t know, heart disease is the number one killer of both men and women in this country and continues to be on the rise each day. But there’s good news!

It’s been proven that people following a plant-based diet have 2.5 times fewer cardiac events, including heart attack, stroke, bypass surgery, and angioplasty. Nice! If you want to do your part to help say no to heart disease, visit GoVeg.com and find out more about how a vegetarian diet helps save lives!

And let me tell you, I love The Office in ways one shouldn’t…couldn’t…wouldn’t love a television show. And it’s because of this love that I’m jazzed to report that Melora Hardin (or as I call her, Jan) will be venturing to my little island to star on Broadway in Chicago.

Ecorazzi’s own Marissa Moss chatted with Hardin back in March where she told us “I’m never buying target clothes for my kids again. ” She then raved about a pair of vegan shoes a designer gave her a while back and told us she’d recently gotten a Prius, began recycling, installed Aqua 2000 (a home water purification system that prevents her family from buying bottles) and brings cloth tote bags to the supermarket.

It’s true that Broadway producers (especially the producers of Chicago) have a habit of hiring stars that are totally unfit for the role just to sell tickets. This, I can guarantee you, is not the case here! Hardin starred in Les Miserable a few months back when it was at the Hollywood Bowl and I can vouch for her serious chops!

So check out Chicago from December 29 through February 12 and see one of our favorite green gals do her thing! You better believe we’ll be there!

Can you feel it in the air? Earth Day is soon approaching and the green celebrations are popping up all over the place. If you live in New York it’s a no brainer…the Go Green Expo is the place to be. But what about all the eco-heads on the West Coast? Must they celebrate all by themselves? I DON’T FRIGIN THINK SO!!!

Universal Studios Hollywood is throwing an “Eco-Fair” on Saturday, April 26 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. The fair will feature over 30 “green” displays, including a “hands-on” lesson from the folks at Bell’s Bugs on the vital impact reptiles and insects have on the environment, and a booth from La Knitterie Parisienne where you can pick up some organic knitting yarn made from soy, hemp, bamboo and corn.

Also, make sure to bring your recycled, soy-based ink marker because The Office star Melora Hardin and Lauren Koslow from Days Of Our Lives will be autographing eco-friendly bags and passing out energy efficient light bulbs.

Finally, in the spirit of Earth Day, Universal Studios Hollywood will offer free parking for hybrid vehicles, or for people who donate at least one product to the hazardous waste disposal drive sponsored by the City and County of Los Angeles. SEXY!!!

To find out more visit the Universal Studios website and get your Earth Day green on.

The hills are alive with the sound of The Hills? Or is it the sound of Laguna Beach? Well, however you take your reality-TV, its favorite daughter, Kristin Cavallari, hosted a luncheon yesterday in Beverly Hills to benefit the Make-A-Wish Foundation.

The OC queen wore Bebe. That was the theme of the afternoon-a fashion show debuting their new line for Spring/Summer. I don’t go to Beverly Hills often, but when I do, I can’t shake the little voice that sings in my ear: “one of these things is not like the others, one of these things just doesn’t belong…”

So what was this ecorazzer going to pick up on her radar in a sea of fur, diamonds and leather? Well, certainly not the aerosol can of hairspray and bottle of water in my swag bag. But I digress.

Kristin made the rounds on the red carpet, talking about her involvement in Make A Wish, and how since leaving Laguna she’s found herself becoming more and more involved in charitable organizations and events. As compelling as a reality star can be, I somehow found myself more interested in talking to Melora Hardin (Jan, from The Office.) While the topic of the lunch was Make A Wish, Melora and I had a chance to talk about some of the ways that the busy actress is able to bring a little eco-savvy into her life.

“I’m never buying target clothes for my kids again,” she told me, then raving about a pair of vegan shoes a designer gave her a while back. In the past few years, she’s gotten a Pruis, began recycling, installed Aqua 2000 (a home water purification system that prevents her family from buying bottles) and brings cloth tote bags to the supermarket.

Coincidentally enough, at the last event I covered for ecorazzi, I had a conversation with another Office star, Mindy Kaling, about how she was going green. And just recently, it was announced that another star of the show, Rashida Jones, is releasing a line of green clothing called Laloo. Is it is something in the (un-bottled) water?

But back to the matter at hand: Beverly Hills. The luncheon raised enough money to grant a young woman with sickle cell anemia the chance to live her dream of being a gospel singer.

That known, I could feel a bit less guilty about the leather-seated Porsche parked in front of me.
