Linkin Park Prepares To Launch Another Green Tour

We talk about Linkin Park a lot — and for good reason. If these guys aren’t rocking out, they’re helping out and we can’t say enough about bands that give back and use their fame and influence to make a difference.
So yes, Linkin Park is gearing up for another green tour. They were one of the original groups to actually address reducing the massive footprint of concerts through recycling, fan awareness, offsets, biodiesel, etc. We’ve even had the pleasure of conversing with lead singer Mike Shinoda through blog entries about certain green elements from the last tour and impressions of good and bad. This time ’round, they’re pushing the green tour scene even harder for their North American spring jaunt. Here’s a bit of what’s going down:
In addition to working with each venue to implement green initiatives such as recycling, utilizing renewable energy certificates and offering incentives for carpools and hybrid or electric vehicles, the guys are donating $1 from each ticket sold to Music For Relief for a tree-planting program. The tour will also see Linkin Park using bio-diesel fuel, locally grown organic foods and recyclable or reusable serving products.
Linkin Park’s official fan club –LP Underground — is also getting involved with a generous donation to Music for Relief (Linkin Park’s own foundation) and partner American Forests to fund the planting of 100,000 new trees. Since last year, the band members through various initiatives have donated $500,000 to reforestation.
