Miley Cyrus, Selena Gomez, Demi Lovato and the Jonas Brothers recently teamed up to record Send It On — an eco pop song that is part of Disney’s “Friends for Change: Project Green” initiative.

The Project Green campaign encourages kids to think about the planet and take action to help lower their carbon footprint. So far more than 350,000 kids have taken the green pledge to recycle, reuse, unplug, bicycle etc.

100% of the proceeds from iTunes’ sales (it’s currently number 5 on the iTunes chart) will benefit environmental causes through its Worldwide Conservation Fund.

While I’m jazzed as hell to see young hollywood getting involved with the green scene, it all just seems so damn precious! Watch the video below and tell us what YOU think? Effective activism or just another greenwashing stunt? Chime in and share your thoughts!

Attention ladies: If you plan on attending Universal Studio’s “Eco-Fair” this coming Sunday and feel a little flushed, don’t blame it on Global Warming. Chances are, Dancing with the Stars’ front runner Gilles Marini is the culprit. The actor will will sign autographs, greet fans and maybe shake it a bit when he makes a special guest appearance at Universal Studios Hollywood’s free Eco-Fair on Sunday, April 19 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Besides drooling over Marini, guests can also take rides on electric bicycles, discover how an engine-less SUV can zoom to astonishing speeds and see just how quickly cookies bake in a solar powered oven.

Ellen DeGeneres is cleaning our her closet and throwing the stuff up on eBay — with all the money raised going towards the Humane Society of the United States. “I’m auctioning off a bunch of clothes on eBay that I’ve worn on my show or to awards shows,” she writes. “Twenty-five items each week. If you’re the winning bidder, you could actually have the shirt that I wore when Chris Matthews groped me. Or, the outfit I wore when I won an Emmy. The youth division of PETA has honored Miley Cyrus with a Compassionate Citizen Award for adopting one of the birds that featured in her new film Hannah Montana: The Movie, and making sure the other poultry co-stars found good homes as well. “Miley’s heart is as big as her smile,” said PETA’s Dan Shannon. “We hope that her act of compassion will inspire her fans to be kind to animals too.”[Read more...]

“Miley picked it up thought it was real cute and decided she needed to save this chicken. So she put it in a cardboard box with some pine straw and got her mom to take it home,” co-star Jason Earles told Tarts. “She is funny with animals — she was like ‘I have to have that chicken’. She falls in love like you wouldn’t believe.” The sweet 16-year-old admitted she actually stole “a few” chickens but it was because “they were sad to be working.”

As Cele|bitchy notes these were probably a.) union chickens and b.) under the care of a chicken wrangler. More than likely, the young star was given the bird. In terms of chickens and “looking sad” — as Ira Glass found out, there may be some truth to that. After a visit with Karen Davis, president of United Poulty Concerns, he discovered that chickens do indeed have personalities — and became a vegetarian promptly after.

And is it me or does one chicken not neccessarily mean a happy chicken? Isn’t the recommended number for any homestead something like six?

MILEY CYRUS AND NICK JONAS ARE GETTING BACK TOGETHER (Insert squealing and “lizzing” here.)

Ok, well not really. They’re actually only hooking up for a new charity single — so I apologize to anyone who’s Hannah Montana/Jonas Brothers fetish/fantasy just went *poof*. But hey, you know you’re still excited. From MTV,

E! Online is reporting that Nick and Miley (and Joe and Kevin) will join in a star-studded session for a song called “Pass It On,” which an unidentified inside source said was Disney’s version of the 1985 charity smash “We Are the World.” The song is being recorded later this week and a video is slated to be shot on Saturday for the tune, which was reportedly written by Adam Anders and Nikki Hassman, the same team behind “Hoedown Throwdown” from the soundtrack of “Hannah Montana: The Movie.” A spokesperson for Hollywood Records, both artists’ label, told MTV News there was no comment on the report at this time.

We have no idea what charity might benefit from another take on “We Are The World” — but no doubt, it will sell like crazy and bring in the dough. Maybe Miley’s latest green streak will extend to helping out some group like Global Green USA, Oceana, or Sierra Club. Stay tuned.

We were pretty disappointed when Miley Cyrus’ first car turned out not be the Smart Car we had seen sporting her name — but instead was her Mom’s ‘used’ Porsche Cayenne SUV. After the “Go Green!” video she produced with her friend, the eco-themed song off her latest album, and the discussion with her dad on hybrids and pollution, we thought for sure that some fuel-efficient vehicle was in her future.

Turns out, we were right! It just took a little time driving around a massive SUV to convince her.

Miley recently announced on her website that she ditched the Porsche in favor of a new black Prius. “I didn’t like it ’cause it was bad for the environment, and it was too big,” she says in a new video. “My dad surprised me last night with a black Prius.” She says she prefers it over the SUV because it’s “good for the environment, and it’s adorable!”

Apparently not adorable enough. Miley’s first accessory for her new car? “I’m gonna get Hello Kitty floor mats!” Oh man, kill me with teen-cuteness.

And for those of you playing along at home, both Miley Cyrus and Paris Hilton have now beaten Hayden Panettiere to the hybrid scene. This, after the Heroes star announced in 2007 that she would get rid of her own Porsche Cayenne for some fuel-efficient wheels. C’mon Hayden!
