Paris Hilton And Britney Spears: Pet Owners From Hell!!

Filed under: animals, not green — parrish @ 2:07 pm

Owning a pet is awesome. Owning two pets is awesome. Owning three pets, while mabye a lot of responisbilty, it’s still very awesome…if you’ve got what it takes. But when celebs start owning more than they can handle what kind of message does it send to the rest of the world?

Author Karen Dawn poses that question in Thanking the Monkey: Rethinking the Way We Treat Animals, and in it accuses notorious party pals Britney Spears and Paris Hilton of being awful role models to young pet owners.

Dawn tells the New York Post, “We’ve already seen Paris go through dogs faster than mojitos, and I bet nobody warned Britney that California might soon force drivers to keep dogs safely restrained in vehicles - like babies. An impulse purchase of a companion for the next 15 years? … Nobody expects them to have the dogs much longer than 15 months.”

At one point Spears had a small collection of chihuahuas, and well, Ecorazzi has reported numerous times on Paris’ personsal farm.

Paris Hilton Opens A Puppy Beauty Parlor

Filed under: animals, film-tv, not green, television — parrish @ 11:22 am

Paris Hilton loves animals, but not like in a productive, responsible, animals are great kinda way. No, Paris loves animals like Mary J. Blidge loves shoes: the more she has, the more she loves. In fact, at one point Paris reported that she had 600 pets in her various homes including a Rottweiler dog, a bobcat and a Lhasa Aspo. And who could forget the Paris Pet Store Controversy or the Paris Cat Collection Controversy or even the most recent Paris Puppy Palace Controversy? I think it’s probably safe to say that Paris loves animals like children love candy and likewise should be restricted to merely one or two.

However limitations make for bad TV, so instead, Paris Hilton will once again “prove” her love for man’s best friend by hosting UK satellite channel Living TV’s Paris’ Pooches. The premise is simple: a 26-year-old heiress (a.k.a Hilton) manages a beauty parlor for dogs in Bond Street, London.

A source revealed to Britain’s Daily Star Sunday newspaper: “The shop is perfect for Paris. It’s a subject she’s passionate about and it’s a way for her to break into UK TV.

I mean she’s already famous here, she has a best-seller, a fragrance, a clothing line…I guess UK television is really all that’s left. But if you want REALLY good ratings I say we invite her bobcat into the salon and just kinda see what happens! Yeah — that’s hot!

Paris Hilton Wants To Add A Cheetah To Growing Animal Collection

Filed under: green and famous — michael @ 10:51 am

Paris Hilton is continuing her march through Africa (while on tour with her boyfriend Benji Madden of rock group Good Charlotte) and her latest interest is in how much everything costs. From TMZ,

“A spy from Cape Town’s Mount Nelson resort tells Gatecrasher that while Paris was there, she was obsessed with how much everything cost: “That included a cheetah she saw at an animal park. She asked how much it was and said, ‘If I bought a cheetah, would it run away from me or could I keep it?’”

We have a question: If Ecorazzi buys a cheetah for Paris, will it eat her? We promise to return it to the wild once it has fulfilled this request.

The above spoof of National Geographic was created by the class-skipping slackers at the Harvard Lampoon. From their release,

The issue’s cover features socialite Paris Hilton as she’s never been seen before: sexy and glamorous. More shocking than Lindsay Lohan’s pictorial spread in New York magazine, Paris Hilton strips down as an homage to superhottie Jane Goodall in “Paris Hilton After Dark—Your Wildest Animal Fantasies.

Hey, why not? Happy April Fool’s Day everyone!

Razzi Snap: Walt Disney Cartoons Contain Secret Environmental Messages

Filed under: 'toons, buildings and construction, cars-houses, interviews — michael @ 3:34 pm

aladdin.jpg

flowerI don’t know how inconspicuous they were, but according to a new book, Walt Disney cartoons have helped inspire a generation of environmental conservationists through secret themes and plot lines. Titled The Idea of Nature in Disney Animation, the author explores how everything from Tarzan to Bambi “systematically encouraged generations of children to ally themselves with the natural world and protect it.” They also caused me to have a crush on that chick from Aladdin during my early years, whatever that means. [via Times Online]

flowerMaya Karin, a popular Malaysian actress, recently allowed journalists to visit her home and check out all the cool, green improvements she’s making in her life. “What I want to do is prove that we can live the modern life and still care for the environment at the same time,” she said. “My role is to be a communicator and to get the word out about the environmental issues we face.” [read more…]

flowerEd Begley Jr. gave a young Leonardo DiCaprio his first ride in an electric car back in 1990…

flowerAdam Gardner of the band Guster — and co-founder of green touring organization Reverb — once had a tour bus named “The Earth Eater”. Thankfully, he’s turned that all around and explains his environmental passions and drive to create Reverb in this great interview.

flowerParis Hilton once again made for a great ambassador of American education while answering questions during a press stop in South Africa. “I LOVE Africa in general, South Africa and West Africa. They are both great countries,” she said. Yes. Yes, they are.

Paris Hilton Is Headed To Africa, But Not For Charity

Filed under: campaigns — michael @ 9:50 pm

hilton1.jpgRemember, oh about six months ago, when Paris Hilton was still into the whole “I just got out of jail and must now focus on God, and children, and all that.”? There was even a charity mission to Rwanda planned with the organization Playing for Good that Paris was nervous about undertaking. As she said, however, she wanted to “show people what everyday life is like for me, how hard I work. There are a lot of misconceptions about me.” Uh huh. Strangely, that trip was canceled.

BUT WAIT! Turns out Paris is in fact going to Africa — but for all the reasons that we were apparently misconceiving her of in the first place. Hilton will be there accompanying puppy-dog boyfriend Benji Madden on tour with the band Good Charlotte. Said Benji, “I’d do anything she wanted. I’m a really easy guy to read. Everyone can tell I’m really happy. She’s the most supportive [girlfriend], even as a friend, so supportive of everything I’m doing. And I try to be the same way for her.”

Yea, we’re pretty sure this African safari is going to end with Hilton jumping ship early. Perhaps she’ll pose with a starving orphan or something on her way out.

Charity Beat: Paris Hilton’s Man Skips Out On Benefit Gig To P-A-R-T-Y

Filed under: campaigns, green and famous — michael @ 9:01 am

hilton.jpgParis Hilton’s latest boyfriend, Good Charlotte rocker Benji Madden, is so “crazy in love” with the socialite that he decided to skip out on a charity DJ appearance. The gig was to raise money for Nicole Richie’s charity for disadvantaged kids (Madden’s twin is Richie’s partner, Joel) but he decided to go clubbing with Paris instead. Nice. Do these two belong with each other or what? [via Female First]

Not On Our Watch, a charity co-founded by George Clooney, Brad Pitt, Matt Damon, Don Cheadle, and Jerry Weintraub recently donated $500,000 to the United Nations World Food Program. The cash will be earmarked for the U.N.’s food aid agency to prevent hunger in the troubled Darfur region of Sudan. Said Clooney is a statement, “Without immediate additional funding, humanitarian aid in the region will be crippled”. [visit: Not On Our Watch]

Patrick Dempsey wasn’t the only famous celeb opening a new medial center this week. Down in Australia, Jackie Chan opened a science education center at an Australian cancer research clinic; dedicated in the actor’s name. Chan’s father, Charlie, lived in Aussie for more than 40 years. Organizers did not reveal how much Jackie donated to the new center, but did indicate that the sum was “substantial”. [via StarPulse]

Paris Hilton Is “The First One” To Own A Hybrid

Filed under: thegreenpicture, transport — parrish @ 11:50 am

Did you know that Paris Hilton has the first hybrid EVER?!!! Because we sure didn’t.

Recently, when the paparazzi asked Hilton about her new hybrid Yukon SUV, Paris said that “everyone” should buy a hybrid because they’re “awesome!” Clearly, the hotel heiress is extremely educated on the subject of sustainability and thus wildly well-spoken, but then — between her two and three syllable quips — Paris declared that she had “the first one” .

Hold up!

Maybe what Mrs. Hilton meant was that she got the dealership’s first Yukon. Or maybe she meant that she was the first one in her “social group” to get a hybrid. Or possibly she was bragging that out of her and her twenty thousand dogs, she was the first to drive green. But surely…SURELY she couldn’t have meant that she was the first hybrid owner EVER! Or could she have? Watch the video below and judge for yourself. Ah there’s nothing like Paris in springtime.

[UPDATE] According to ABG, General Motors has no idea what Paris is talking about either.

Paris Hilton Canine Controversy Update

Filed under: animals, not green, television — parrish @ 11:34 am

Paris Hilton is so smart. And also, today is opposite day.

Ecorazzi previously reported that while on Ellen, the hotel heiress revealed that she had essentially opened a mini-Hilton for her 17 dogs in the backyard of her Los Angeles residence. What Paris didn’t know is that it’s illegal to have more than 3 dogs in any “non-kennel, non-breeder, residential address” in LA.  Oh and now that Paris has served time, you better believe the popo was all up on her ass.

Hilton has since cut her doggy supply from 17 to 10….still 7 above legal limits. Paris said:

“I only have 10 dogs now. Some of my dogs had puppies, so I gave some of them away to people I really know and trust. I gave some to my stylist and to a few of my best friends, so now I’m down to 10.”

How does she get away with the breach? Well first off, she’s stupidly rich and famous (which is the ultimate loophole), but also she claims to not keep all of her pups on the same property.  You tricky, tricky socialite!  Paris also admitted that she has more exotic pets on a ranch in Nevada including: two monkeys, two rabbits and some ferrets.  Two monkeys, of course! I’ve been wondering who penned Paris’ last book, Confession of an Heiress.  Now it all makes sense.
