There are many obvious perks to being selected as the “First Dog”; getting to live in the White House being one of them. However, when the dog days of summer call and spending time outside is more routine, having a secondary hangout is a priority. Enter the Summa Canum (Latin for “First Dog”), The Obama Dog Home from Sustainable Pet Design.

Of course, this isn’t your average run-of-the-mill retreat. This dog house is rooted in eco-design and features a green roof, recycled wood from naturally felled trees (from the driveway of our 7th President, Andrew Jackson, no less.) zero-VOC paint and varnish, and a personal delivery in Neil Young’s all-electric 1959 Lincoln. In fact, the dog house is already in Young’s garage awaiting delivery. Now all we need is a First Dog to lead the free canine world. Sustainable Pet Design’s vision does not end with the arrival of the Summa Canum at The White House. Our intent is to create an ongoing testing ground for sustainable practices to which all Americans can contribute. Summa Canum can be retrofitted with solar panels, radiant floor heating, a graywater recycling system–just about anything you can imagine. When Summa Canum is tricked out to the max (or when the First Dog puts her paw down for some peace and quiet), we’ll build another, together.

Radiant floor heating? This sounds like something Paris Hilton would be interested in for her doggy mansion. Check out more details on this first dog house here.

“Paris Hilton hasn’t eaten meat since meeting Heather Mills McCartney. The blonde star says she converted to vegetarianism after the former model, the estranged wife of Sir Paul McCartney, showed her a shocking video of animal cruelty. She said: ‘From that point I’ve never worn fur and I never will. I also haven’t eaten any meat since. I just survive on pasta and stuff like that. I was grossed out. It was disgusting.’”

As far as we can tell, Paris is no longer a vegetarian. The Vegetarian Star points out that Paris was spotted eating meat and pork back in November 2008 with then-boyfriend Benji Madden. Deceiver says she’s had some issues sticking to that whole “anti-fur” commitment as well.

Hopefully we’re wrong and Hilton is a raging vegetarian. I’d just like to clear the air on this topic before another rumors is given fresh life a la “Clint Eastwood is a vegan” fame.

We were pretty disappointed when Miley Cyrus’ first car turned out not be the Smart Car we had seen sporting her name — but instead was her Mom’s ‘used’ Porsche Cayenne SUV. After the “Go Green!” video she produced with her friend, the eco-themed song off her latest album, and the discussion with her dad on hybrids and pollution, we thought for sure that some fuel-efficient vehicle was in her future.

Turns out, we were right! It just took a little time driving around a massive SUV to convince her.

Miley recently announced on her website that she ditched the Porsche in favor of a new black Prius. “I didn’t like it ’cause it was bad for the environment, and it was too big,” she says in a new video. “My dad surprised me last night with a black Prius.” She says she prefers it over the SUV because it’s “good for the environment, and it’s adorable!”

Apparently not adorable enough. Miley’s first accessory for her new car? “I’m gonna get Hello Kitty floor mats!” Oh man, kill me with teen-cuteness.

And for those of you playing along at home, both Miley Cyrus and Paris Hilton have now beaten Hayden Panettiere to the hybrid scene. This, after the Heroes star announced in 2007 that she would get rid of her own Porsche Cayenne for some fuel-efficient wheels. C’mon Hayden!

Adding to the pain of a terrible song, we also get a glimpse of a pink Cadillac Escalade Hybrid — which receives a dismal 20mpg on the highway and is far from the green statement so many assume it to be. But hey, at least Paris also suggests that we ratify the Kyoto Treaty right away. Moving on…

The next time you go to throw something out in London, don’t be surprised to hear Paris Hilton exclaim, “That’s hot.” The city is considering experimenting with trash bins featuring celebrity voices as a way to get more people to properly dispose of their garbage. Currently, Finland is utilizing the tech for their own public bins. According to one source, a detector in the bin will activate a loudspeaker every time rubbish is deposited and the celebrity voice recording will say: “It’s great that you care about the city. Cool isn’t it?”

Um, yea. And creepy too.

A spokeswoman for the Mayor of London said that he is very interested in innovative schemes “that will encourage Londoners to recycle their rubbish.” The bins in Helsinki are just another example that they think might work really well in the capital.

Right — now the only question is: Who do you think should be featured as one of the voices of trash? Better yet, let’s have a vote!

Is it really newsworthy that Paris Hilton went into a Beverly Hills sports store and purchased a bike?  I guess it is since she’s one of the most searched names on the Internet (why exactly?). Paris was recently in Denmark for a fashion show, so maybe the third-most bike friendly city in the world had a good influence on her.  We’ll keep an ecorazzi eye on her to see if she actually rides it.
