Paris Hilton Builds A Mansion For Her 17 Dogs

That's dumb.

Filed under: animals — michael @ 11:10 am

paris-hilton1.jpgHow Paris Hilton can forget about leaving her cat Prada at the vet, but remember to take care of 17 dogs is beyond me. The Los Angeles Department of Animal Services is wondering the same thing, as they’ve recently made Hilton the center of yet another investigation of animal welfare.

Apparently, Hilton built a mansion for her 17 dogs in her garden. She even filled it with matching furnishings so that they would ‘feel comfortable’. From the interview,

“I have 17 dogs. So I built a doggie mansion in my backyard. It’s a replica of my house with a chandelier and the same furniture. They all live there”.

Hilton revealed her doggie playland while on the Ellen DeGeneres Show this past Monday. Unfortunately, what she didn’t realize is that it’s illegal to have more than three dogs at any one “non-kennel, non-breeder, residential address” in Los Angeles. Whoops.

I don’t know about you, but I miss the “fresh-out-of-jail-I’ve-got-some-perspective-on-life” Paris Hilton. You know, the one that was going to get real involved with charities, the environment, become an adult, etc. I guess I really don’t see that happening anymore. And it’s a shame. People follow this girl religiously. She could real have an impact if she got involved in something more than building mansions for her dogs.

Paris Hilton Loses Cat Privileges Due To “Abandonment”

Filed under: animals, not green — parrish @ 3:36 pm

kitty.jpg

Oh this is good. This is really, really, REALLY good!

Starpulse.com is reporting that Paris Hilton has lost custody of her pet cat Prada (no, I’m serious…that’s the cat’s actual name) after failing to pick her up from the vet. The pet lover (and by lover I mean…) dropped her cat off at the end of January to get neutered. And since it’s now February and there’s still no sign of Paris, the vet called Prada’s original owner, Kris Kelly, whom Paris adopted her from last year.

Ok, there’s a lot to say here. First off, big ups to Paris for adopting an animal instead of buying one, and also for taking it to get neutered. Those are both big steps for the Hiltonmeister. BUT, (and this is a pretty big but), unlike dry cleaning or takeout, you can’t just NOT pick up a cat. We animal rightsers like to call that…oh I don’t know…NEGLECT!! At least that’s what Kris Kelly is saying and thus insisting that Paris has lost all feline privileges due to this, “clear-cut case of abandonment.” Kelly even told TMZ.com that she tried to contact Hilton, but the socialite never returned her calls.

So to me this is sorta funny- in like a sad, predictable, eye-rolling kind of way. I mean who drops an animal off at the vet and then just decides, “You know, I think maybe I’m done with this whole pet owner thing?” Paris has said on numerous occasions that she looks forward to having children. EEK! I hope she remembers that daycare ends at 6, and that when dropping your child off at a sleepover it’s considered polite to at least EVENTUALLY pick them back up.

Oh Paris, what are we going to do with you?

Paris Hilton Finally Gets A Hybrid

Filed under: transport — michael @ 12:26 pm

Hayden Panettiere has lost out to the heiress in a battle of promises over who would grab a hybrid vehicle first.

E! News has video of Paris Hilton revealing that for her 27th birthday this coming February 17th, she has ordered herself a GMC Yukon Hybrid.

“I want the new Yukon hybrid. So, I just ordered it for myself. That was a little birthday gift to myself.”

While this vehicle is by no means the epitome of eco-friendly (it’s massive and holds 8 people), it does represent a commitment by GM to infuse its line of SUVs with hybrid technology. Compared to previous versions of the Yukon, this two-mode hybrid gets 21mpg in the city — a 50% increase.

So kudos to Paris. She’s finally managed to add some green to her fleet of vehicles. Now if only she could find someway to offset the expected six birthday parties she has planned…

Paris Hilton’s Grandpa To Give Almost All The Hilton Loot To Charity

Filed under: business, donations — parrish @ 1:13 am

If you’ve read my last three posts you probably think I have an old, white man fetish. Well I don’t! Indeed, I suspect an escaped Christmas elf of spiking the country club punch to account for all of this old man kindness of late.

In a recent announcement, Barron Hilton, Paris Hilton’s granddaddy, just announced that he will be giving 97 percent of his savings to charity. And how much is 97 percent of the ol’ Hilton billfold? Oh…just 2.3 BILLION DOLLARS!!!!!

The Conrad N. Hilton Foundation will be receiving the money and putting it in a charitable trust where it will raise the total value to 4.5 billion. And what about the poor Hilton family? After all is said and done, they will only get a measly 69 million to split amongst everyone!! Do you think Barron was trying to be clever with the 69 million, or was it just a coincidence? I’m talkin sex tape here, people!!

At the end of the day you gotta respect Barron- if for not only being one generous mother fuc#@*, for confidently rocking the name Barron for 80 years! In other news, I will be donating 97 percent of my savings to charity as well. Wait, how much is 97 percent of zero again?

Paris Hilton’s Mama Plays Mrs. Clause For Make-A-Wish

Filed under: donations, products, web — parrish @ 5:13 pm

Kathy Hilton, the famous mother of Nicky and Paris, is taking off those freshly pressed, socialite gloves and getting her hands a little dirty for the sake of the children. Mrs. Hilton (not to be confused with Mrs. Clause) is showing her charitable side this year, not by personal sacrifice, but through the sacrifice of her wealthy friends.

That’s right, Hilton spend “all last week calling different celebrities and sports figures” asking them to donate some of their personal possessions to an ebay auction she’s hosting for the Make A Wish Foundation.

What exactly can you bid on? Mel Gibson’s jeans, Johnny Carson’s cuff links, Dean Martin’s golf clubs, Lucille Ball’s teacup and saucer, an Ocean Thirteen script signed by the film’s cast, and Tom Cruise’s autographed Ray-Ban sunglasses are just a few of the fancy treats.

But wait a second? Kathy Hilton said that she spent all last week calling her celebrity friends, and now she has stuff from Dean Martin, Johnny Carson and Lucille Ball? Oh my God, the Hilton family has a phone that can contact dead people!!! Now THAT’S cool.

Okay, so maybe she’s not really making any personal sacrifice here, but at least she’s setting up the online auction right? Nevermind. Kathy Hilton recently confessed, ” I don’t know how to use the computer.” Well, it’s the thought that counts anyway I guess, but all I’m saying is just think how much she could get for that dead people phone. Think about it Mrs. Hilton, think about it.

More on Pets of Bel-Air

Liar Liar - Don't Buy from Pet Stores!

Filed under: animals — rebecca @ 5:14 pm

Last week we wrote about celeb favorite pet shop, Pets of Bel Air, being closed down for operating without a license. The Humane Society sent in undercover investigators to check out the place, and the results are shocking. Watch the video below to see advice that employees of the store give to the investigator, including…”Never tell a customer that a puppy is sick. Even if he is.”

Pets of Bel-Air has responded to the video on their website:

Dear Customers, Friends and Neighbors,

We are horrified by the recent video released by the Humane Society of the United States showing footage of puppy mills. We do not condone puppy mills; we would never knowingly buy a dog from a puppy mill; and we are appalled by the possibility that this may have happened. We are investigating all of our sources so that we continue to have the finest and most reputable dogs from the best breeders, a practice that we’ve held central to our business since we opened nine years ago.

Each of our beautiful puppies purchased out-of –state are from a USDA approved pet breeder. We rely on our governmental agency to be sure that these breeders are inspected, and when we see the conditions that these animals are living in it feels as though the USDA has failed our business, and most importantly they have failed the animals that do not have a voice.

All of our puppies are given health checks by our store veterinarian when they become part of our family and before joining their new families. Our puppies are all sold with a health warranty, and are not available to go home to their new families until they have been cleared by a veterinarian.

It has been brought to our attention that our permit to sell animals has expired and we are already in the process of paying the full amount owed. The permit fee is not a significant number, and went inadvertently unpaid. We apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused, as we will continue to do business with the highest level of integrity.

Pets of Bel Air has been a trusted neighborhood business for many years. Every employee at Pets of Bel Air is an animal lover, as evidenced by the care and love we show our puppies and kittens each day; the healthy environment we provide; and the respect we show each of you. We continue to be a community pet store you can trust.

Thank you for your continued support.
Pets of Bel Air

Hmm. I’m going to side with the HSUS on this one…the video evidence is overwhelming. Besides the fact that I despite both pet stores and breeding.

The celebs such as Paris Hilton and Denise Richards that associated with this store are sure to be up in arms, as well. To learn more about puppy mills, visit the HSUS Stop Puppy Mills website.

Paris Hilton Gets Naked For Champagne And Cleaner Water

Filed under: campaigns — michael @ 4:20 pm

parish.jpgWhile Paris Hilton was busy talking about going green yesterday, she failed to mention that her new line of champagne-in-a-can from German company Rich Prosecco will also benefit charity. 20% of sales of the new range of alcohol will go to organizations helping people develop clean sources of drinking water. Rock on! The standard promotion for initiatives like this is usually something between 5%-10% — so we’re happy to see a real amount of cash be directed towards a good cause.

In addition to simply having her name associated with the canned bubbly, Paris also took things a step further and decide to participate in an ad campaign for the drink. As expected, she’s nude, covered in gold spray paint, and sitting in the desert. Heckler Spray said it best,

“We know what you’re thinking - what has Paris Hilton naked in the desert got to do with champagne? And we’re not entirely sure. True, we’ve wanted to drop Paris Hilton naked in the desert several times before, but only so we could force her to understand that sitting out for weeks in a 130F wilderness in the middle of summer with no clothes or water is ‘hot’ and that perhaps she should try another way to describe every bastard thing she ever encounters, but we never thought to paint her gold first. ”

Brilliant.

Will Paris Beat Panettiere To The Hybrid Club?

Heiress plans on buying a hybrid "right now"

paris.jpgParis Hilton is in Berlin this week promoting a new sparkling wine sold in cans and also updating the rest of us on her environmental efforts. ”I changed all the light bulbs to energy-safe light bulbs and I’m buying a hybrid car right now,” the 26-year-old celebrity heiress said Wednesday. According to StarPulse, Hilton “turns off the lights, doesn’t leave the TV on or the water running when she leaves her house.” She continued, ”These are little things that people can do every day to make a huge difference.” Which in Paris’s case are instantly negated by the private jet she most likely used to fly to and fro Berlin.

However, much like rock star Slash’s ’small differences’ quote last week, Paris is advocating some good first small steps people can take to make their homes more energy-efficient. Regarding the hybrid car, we’re about as skeptical on that one as when Paris first starting dropping eco bombs early last year. Who could forget this quote? “I like hybrids, but a lot of them aren’t that cute. I’m thinking silver … or maybe I’ll get a green one!” This was back in August. In fact, we’re starting to see some celebrities display intentions but take their time in following through. Heroes star Hayden Panettiere vowed to get rid of her Porsche SUV back in early June but continues to drive it today — with that unfortunate action undermining her other efforts in the eyes of critics.

So, it remains to be seen if Paris will indeed be shuttled around in a hybrid or will simply continue to debate the cuteness factor. With many months between when she first decided to live a more eco-friendly lifestyle to now, there’s not much to indicate a change in business as usual.

Enjoy the flight home.

Celebrity Bel-Air Pet Shop Closed For Selling Unlicensed Dogs

Filed under: animals, not green — parrish @ 11:10 am

Pets of Bel Air, a popular celebrity puppy emporium, has been exposed for operating without a license for over 3 years. The Humane Society of the United States lead the investigation and officially closed down the store yesterday afternoon for selling puppies from unlicensed mills, for at least $1,000.

The problem with these mills is that without a license there are no rules to govern how they treat their pets. Wayne Pacelle, president of the Humane Society of the United States stated, “Often, they’re run by farmers who raise soybeans and corn, and this becomes another, more lucrative cash crop for them. It often becomes a dominant source of income because no money is spent on the care of these dogs.”

Pets of Bel Air is famous for their celebrity pooch selling skills, and just recently provided Britney Spears a yorkie and Paris Hilton a Chihuahua. Other celebrities like Alicia Silverstone, Sarah Mclachlan and Mary Tyler Moore all get warm fuzzies for helping spread good examples by buying rescued dogs from local shelters. Plus, we all know I kinda have a crush on Alicia Silverstone.

If you’re looking to adopt a new pet this holiday season, I recommend going to PetFinder.com and browsing through some adorable, rescued puppies that could all use some serious holiday snuggle time.
