Pink Considers Adoption To Help Reduce Her Global Footprint

Filed under: green and famous — parrish @ 3:44 pm

We feature Pink a lot here on Ecorazzi…and for good reasons. Between her work as an animal advocate and environmental supporter, Pink proves time and time again that she has Mother Earth’s best interest at heart.

Most recently, Pink confessed that she would rather adopt than give birth. Her reason: there are too many people in the world already. Pink told Star Magazine: “I don’t know if I need to have my own (children). I rescue dogs, so I would probably rescue kids. I feel like with global warming and all, why produce more? Foster parent. Adoption.”

If Pink did decide to adopt she would be joining celebrity moms like Calista Flockhart, Sheryl Crow, Michelle Pfeiffer, Edie Falco and many more who have all made the decision to enjoy parenthood without adding to the growing population.

Eco Couture Goes Hollywood With Lindquist’s First Boutique

Filed under: fashion, green and famous — anna @ 9:20 am

Deborah Lindquist, Eco-Couturier to the stars, opened her first boutique last weekend in Toluca Lake, California. Deborah, who’s best known for her rock star, recycled cashmere pieces, and adorns such celebs as Sharon Stone and Pink, chose this event to showcase her latest offering; bridal gowns. Constructed with her signature piece, the bustier (another big fave of the green carpet brigade), and layers of organic silk, cotton, or reclaimed vintage fabrics, they are works of art, and she is already taking orders from eco-brides all over the States.

On hand to support her was Oprah’s flavor of the month, perky Brit and “Gorgeously Green” author, Sophie Uliano, who also recently took Deborah’s wedding dresses on “The View.” Sophie, who wore an iconic Lindquist “Skull and Crossbones” cashmere cardi alongside good friend Julia Roberts on Oprah! is one of Deborah’s biggest fans. Sophie was quick to tell us that we should buy more luxury items that last longer, rather than cheap things that fall apart and end up in the landfill. “I save my money and buy one unique piece, like Deborah Lindquist, and it will be a timeless classic.” FYI, “Gorgeously Green” is currently #3 on the New York Times Bestseller List!

Also giving big love to Deborah was Stefanie LaRue of SLAM (The Stefanie LaRue Advocacy Movement), Think! Products’ spokesperson, and breast cancer warrior. Stefanie, stunning as ever in a DL turquoise reclaimed sari number, is branding awareness with young people about breast cancer through “SLAM,” and is committed to making the conversation lighthearted, sexy, and hip. That might sound like a complete oxymoron, but she’s got a point. “If you’re going to educate people, why not make it fun at the same time? People are more captivated when it’s fun. At the end of the day, they take on the message and the call to action.”

Pink Teams Up With Australia Animal Organization

Filed under: animals, campaigns, green and famous — parrish @ 10:17 am

What in the world is going on in Australia this week? First McDonalds tries to go green and now THIS!

Singer/activist Pink recently signed on to become a spokesperson for the Royal Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (RSPCA) to help raise awareness among pet owners and encourage teenagers to be kinder towards animals down under .

Now Ecorazzi has told you before about Pink’s involvement with PETA and I’m actually a little surprised she’s working in Australia after she very publicly criticized sheep mulesing — a painful method of surgically removing strips of wool-bearing wrinkle skin from around the breech of a sheep — in December 2006. This method is still used in the manufacturing of Australian wool, but will be phased out by 2010.

As part of the promotional shoot Pink posed with a shelter puppy named Princess. A RSPCA spokesman says, “Pink ran out of hair and make-up to have cuddles with the puppy. She let the puppy lick her on her cheeks and sat on the couch and cuddled and spoke to her. It was an awesome sight to see because it was like Pink completely zoned out from what was going on around her.”

Oh Pink, you’re so hardcore and we so love you!

Pink Gets Green With All Things Organic

Filed under: food & drink, green and famous, healthy living, thegreenpicture — parrish @ 10:51 am

pink

Being green is so awesome that even Pink wants to be green. Get it? Pink? Green? Colors? Nevermind!

After spending some time cooking and gardening in Tuscany, Italy, Pink discovered a love for all things organic and claims a trip through her chef teacher’s garden really gave her a green thumb.

She says, “I’ve put in several raised beds of vegetables: swiss chard, kale, onions, tomatoes, grapes, broccoli, carrots. I’m even going to make my own wine. I love to be dirty, to get in the mud. And I can eat fresh, organic dishes every day.”

Delicious! To find out more about all the benefits of eating organic, visit the Organic Trade Associations website and get a cookin’!

Pink Teams Up With PETA To Prove They Aren’t Just Horsing Around

Filed under: animals, campaigns, green and famous, transport — parrish @ 1:29 pm

pink1.jpg

I know some of our readers aren’t particularly excited about the fact that I cover PETA stories quite regularly, but this one is totally great…I promise.

Singer, Pink, has teamed with PETA to release a billboard in Times Square spotlighting the horrors of the horse-drawn carriage industry. This campaign comes shortly after the New York City comptroller audited the carriage horse industry and found that the city “abandoned many of its responsibilities and permitted some carriage owners to maintain their horses in substandard conditions.” Shortly after the report was released, a carriage horse got into an accident and died when frightened by the sound of street musician’s drums.

As a resident of the NYC, I find nothing romantic about riding around Central Park on a possibility abused animal, but I think many residents feel this way. What PETA hopes to achieve with this billboard is a greater understanding amongst tourists who might have a romanticized idea of the horse-drawn carriage.

My beef (no pun intended) with PETA is never their message, but more about their execution(again, pun aside). For instance, on PETA’s website, Pink said, “Every time I see a horse-drawn carriage in a concrete jungle, I point and yell ‘animal cruelty’ at the top of my lungs to try to make the driver and occupants as uncomfortable as possible.” See…like I think maybe that’s not the most effective tool.

All in all, I hope this billboard really does help spotlight the plight of the horse and encourage people to support alternative energy-free transportation, like New York’s wonderful Pedicab industry. Because when it comes to the serious issue of animal abuse, there’s no room for horsing around.
