InStyle Names Hollywood’s Greenest Couples

Filed under: green and famous — meghan @ 3:07 pm

InStyle Magazine’s website has put out a list of the 12 Greenest Hollywood Couples. Coming as no shock, dolphin do-gooders Hayden Panettiere and Milo Ventmiglia are right near the top of the list, as are new parents Jessica Alba and Cash Warren–who have outfitted little Honor Marie’s nursery with organic-cotton onesies and are planning eco-renovations on their home. Alba said, “I would like to see a cleaner earth for my child.”

Also making the list are Adrian Grenier and Isabel LucasGrenier has a solar-panel-equipped, eco-friendly Brooklyn home, and hosts the show Alter Eco on the Planet Green network. InStyle gives Hayden Christensen a shout-out, too; Christensen is the proud new owner of an organic farm in his native Canada, and his Jumper costar and sweetie, Rachel Bilson, has joined in on his green lifestyle: “I try to be as green as I can. Little things count, like recycling and driving my hybrid car,” Bilson said recently.

Let’s hope more celebrity sweethearts take up the green cause!  For the full list of eco-lovers, visit InStyle Online.

Rachel Bilson Puts Her Clothes On The Line

Filed under: green and famous — michael @ 4:31 pm

bilson

Rachel Bilson has joined up with a whole bunch of other celebrities to get Americans drying clothes on the line — and saving cash and energy at the same time. The campaign comes from Hills, an iconic Australian brand of clothes lines.

According to their release, the use of clothes lines and drying racks in the U.S. has declined steadily since the 1950s as adoption of appliances went mainstream. This has led to the drier becoming the the largest energy sucker in American home next to the refrigerator.

Other celebrities lending their support include Matt Rhys, Olivia Newton-John, Kimberly Joseph, Dannii Minogue, Amanda Detmer, Radha Mitchell, and Melissa George. Said Lost’s Kimberly Joseph, “I grew up in Australia helping Mum hang washing out to dry on the Hills Hoist (and going for the odd swing as well)…nothing like the smell of sun dried t-shirts and linen. With great weather being the #1 draw card here in Los Angeles, clothes dryers should be a thing of the past. Bring on the Hills Hoist, I say!!”

Spring is here! Get your clothes outside!

You can check out the official campaign website here — but keep in mind that things won’t truly be going live until the end of next week.
