Sustainability was definitely in style at EcoStiletto.com’s One-Year Anniversary Bash in Los Angeles!!

Full of eco-celebrities, eco-swag and eco-divas, it was the place to be. LA’s hottest Eco-Cinderellas lined up to the green bash in their eco-threads — and as each entered with their prince Charmings, they dropped off scarves to be donated to Dress for Success. They then proceeded to graze down the green carpet, picked up their Get Hip, Get Green reusable swag bags, and headed towards the back where Leila Harzi eco-gowns hung on display for all to see and try on. Green Bees recycled tire soled footwear was also on display, previewing a two-boot givaway for EcoStiletto Newsletter subscribers that begins August 1st.

DJ Ref’s solar-powered tunes filled the space, while people lounged on Environment Furniture’s sustainable couches. Models strutted around the room in Urban Fox organic lingerie serving Luscious Organic Desserts vegan cupcakes. But it didn’t stop there, guests picked up their signature cocktails and organic drinks from O.N.E. Natural Experience, 360 Vodka and Frey Vineyards, watched Jenny Gaynor blow recycled glass stackable rings, and tried on synthetic-free scents from Strange Invisible Perfumes. The event was more than just sustainable schmoozing over organic drinks, it proved to be extremely eco-educational. Guests had the opportunity to meet and test the variety of eco-products and alternatives available to them.

Celeb guests included supermodel Josie Maran, KaDee Strickland (“Private Practice”), Sarah Jane Morris (“Brothers and Sisters”), Rachelle Carson-Begley (“Living with Ed”), Darren Moore (“Alter Eco”), Mayte Garcia (“Dance Your Ass Off”), Alison Deyette (“Stop, Drop & Shop”), Sarah Backhouse & Taryn Hipwell (“EcoDivas”), and musician Chloe Simone. Big names from the Eco scene also included Karen Solomon (”Opportunity Green“), Green LA Girl, sustainable design specialist Marc Alt, and Tracy Hepler of Your Daily Thread.

The event was full of some serious sustainable smarts and style.

EcoStiletto’s founder, Rachel Lincoln Sarnoff gave us the inside scoop saying,

“Sarah Jane Morris arrived in her veggie-diesel vintage Mercedes wearing a Leila Hafzi sustainable silk gown. She had her makeup done by Josie Maran Cosmetics makeup artist Sole Albergi, alongside Josie Maran herself and Kadee Strickland, who was also wearing Leila Hafzi,” Rachel said. “Sarah Jane talked about finishing installation on her organic vegetable garden, and her plans to add heirloom chickens to the mix for truly free-range eggs.”

“Rachelle Carson-Begley arrived in a Prius with the entire “Living with Ed” crew in tow—except for her husband Ed Begley, Jr. who was traveling. She also wore Leila Hafzi, but skipped the (eco)stilettos, wearing instead her signature flats. She and Darren Moore walked the party together, spending a lot of photo op time at the Luscious Organic Desserts table feeding each other cupcakes.”

“After getting her makeup artists set up, Josie Maran quickly hit the Leila Hafzi rack and selected a backless sustainable silk gown,” Rachel said. “I gave her a Green Youth Movement wristband to wear. Josie then spent some time at the Teens Turning Green Lips Against Lead petition, which she kissed and signed, alongside Rachelle Carson-Begley.”

For everyone, the beautiful canvas petition covered in lipstick told the cosmetic industry to kiss lead in our makeup goodbye!

For some, sustainable style means organic fibers and alternative fabrics — while for others it means vintage and repurposing. EcoFabulous founder, Zem Joaquin, wore vintage and organic cotton with matching vintage accessories, including an adorable gold clutch. EcoDivaTV host Sarah Backhouse sported a vintage Miguel Adrover with her co-host Taryn Hipwell, who fashioned her own redesigned and repurposed dress. Taryn took a former size 14 dress and reshaped and designed it into a sassy, one of a kind sexy strawberry number.

Needless to say, the event was a hit! Guests left feeling empowered, beautiful and sexy! Congrats EcoStilleto for a stylish, sustainable success! May you have another incredible year!

It’s been made official: Living With Ed is coming back for a third season.

Planet Green let loose the news last night — announcing 13 original half-hour episodes starting October 21st on the network. “Rachelle and I are elated to be doing 13 new episodes of Living With Ed on Planet Green, because, frankly, we’re sick of seeing the same damn re-runs ourselves,” said Begley. “It’ll be fun, informative, and if enough of you tune in, we can finally afford a couple of good lawyers to end this sham of a marriage. How can you say no to the only Hollywood couple with a pre-nup that involves carbon credits?”

The show, which originally carried two seasons on HGTV, was ported over to Planet Green in 2008 to help round out green content for the fledgling network. “Words can’t adequately describe Ed and Rachelle’s definition of a modern family unit – there’s no better time to bring Planet Green viewers a new season where they can experience the Begley’s off-kilter dynamic for themselves,” said PG Prez Laura Michalchyshyn.

Excited?

“We’re grateful for the commitment to our local ecosystem shown by the tree planters today,” said Jim Hardie, TreePeople Director of Park Operations. “These celebrities are setting an example for their fans that ‘green’ is more than a slogan, and getting your hands dirty can be fun.”

Today Glamour magazine’s big 70th Anniversary issue hit the stands, and I’m happy to say that you can find me inside. My face is smaller than my pinkie fingernail, but I’m pleased to be there nonetheless!

It’s all part of a photo with an incredible group of women for the article, “70 New Reasons to Live Green“. The photo was taken back in October, if you can believe it. Glamour filled Tavern on the Green with 70 of the greenest ladies around. Only now am I able to see exactly who I was in the same room with. While there I had a chance to finally meet many people we’ve been writing about and talking to for years now.

Q’Orianka Kilcher was one of the first that I spotted in the crowd. She had recently been to visit the sea of trash off of Alaska, and from what she describes, it was something like this. I also finally was able to meet Rachelle Carson Begley, our fave gal from Living with Ed. I had breakfast near Taniya Nayak of HGTV, and admired Alicia Silverstone and Christie Brinkley from afar. And yes, Christie DOES look that good in person. They all do. Though someone pointed out to me that all of the celebs amongst us looked like normal people…just with more makeup and a posse carrying their coats. Speaking of make-up, I chatted with Jessa Blades, organic makeup artist who has included the “do not buy” list of ingredients on the back of her biz card (nice touch!). I stayed away from Laurie David, as I was a little nervous of our coverage of her divorce a couple of years ago, and I never did get a chance to say hello to Josie Maran.

Of course, the crowd wasn’t all celebs. There were business owners, non-profit gurus, and even other bloggers. Past ecorazzi contributor Margaret Teich was representing gspotting.net. I stood between an architect and a farmer. Both ridiculously taller than me. There are many more that I can’t even list. Though I can’t believe that Leo’s mom was there and I didn’t know it.

And now for my wish list. I wish that we would have been given the opportunity to understand who we were amongst. A day of networking – I mean we were all in the same spot! What an opportunity missed to just take a photo and all go our separate ways. Finally, I understood that this was going to be an integral part of the Glamour 70th Anniversary issue. It certainly sounds practically worthy of a cover shot, doesn’t it? I get it – Katie Holmes, typical cover set up…keep it traditional. But not even a mention on the cover? I can see how we can’t beat out “The New Sex Position That Works Every Time” (note to self, check page 256 later)…but “10 Extra-Pretty Beauty Tricks Anyone Can Do” beats out 70 awesome eco-chicks? Come on! We’re on page 193 if you can’t find us.

I appreciate the opportunity, and I think it’s a wonderful concept. I hope you enjoy! We’d love to hear your comments!

Well, at least we’re positive we had fun at the launch of the women-focused green magazine, Positively Green! Almost all of the West Coast Ecorazzi contributors were there to drink up the organic Frey wines and Butte Creek Ale while listening to the always entertaining Ed Begley, Jr. yuck it up!

I have to be honest with you… I’m no marketing or branding “wizard” but when I’m enjoying a nice glass of ale, I’d rather NOT be envisioning someone’s “butte creek”, but that’s just me. OK, on to the goods…

Now, I know exactly what you’re thinking and I AGREE — isn’t another published mag just contributing to the problem instead of solving it? Well, not so fast…. Well, not so fast…. Positively Green is committed to helping fund “the problem.” See, when you pay $14 for your subscription, 2 of those dollars will be donated to the eco-charity of your choice. I don’t know about you, but I feel better already!

The real question people were asking was: what paper is being used for this pub? The lovely Editor in Chief, Kelly Magill, divulged her dilemma: do we use 30% recycled content that is actually MADE in the good ‘ol U-S-of-A…OR do we use 100% recycled paper that gets shipped here from China! Which devil is worse? She settled on the former, but is still looking for the right 100% recycled paper that’s made in the US. So, Kelly is putting out an APB to all Razz readers: If anybody has a beat on 100% recycled paper that’s actually made in the USA, bring it on and contact her!

Rachelle Begley (Ed’s wife), is Positively Green’s first cover model who, in a tongue-firmly-implanted-in-cheek manner, thanked her husband for accelerating her enviro-education! Ed barbed back that they’re the only couple in Hollywood who have a carbon credit pre-nup! Now, I see why these two have their own reality show!!

So, what else does one do when hobnobbing with the Hollywood eco-elites? Hang out with Bill Nye, The Science Guy, of course! While Bill’s clearly jockeying to win the “I’m greener than you are” contest, he said that Ed’s currently in the lead from a business standpoint given his Begley’s Best products; while he (Bill) feels that HE (himself) is in the lead from an engineering standpoint (huh?). Either way, Bill DID ride his bicycle to the event from the ho,t hot Valley, so this Razz writer is giving him double points for the night. And, come on people… how often do you see an eco-nut and a bow tie in the same room, let alone on the same person!

After pouring over my complimentary copy of Positively Green, I can honestly say that the content is smart, the layout is visually stimulating, and it doesn’t talk down to its readers (who are expected to be both green veterans and newbies). Of course, my favorite section is the one called Eco-Gossip provided by your very own Ecorazzi team (is it possible that I’m kissing some serious arse here? You be the judge). All in all, I’m giving it the Tracy Metro seal of approval (for whatever that’s worth).

Tracy Metro (and yes, Metro IS her real name!) is a TV host who was eco-chic before eco and chic were even hyphenated!
