If for some reason you feel compelled to own Sarah Palin’s new book “Going Rogue”, might we suggest you grab it from these guys?

San Francisco’s Green Apple Books has decided that the best way to justify selling Palin’s book is to have it benefit some cause. To that end, they’ve decided to give 100% of the proceeds from sales of “Going Rogue” to the Alaska Wildlife Federation. From their blog,

“With all due to respect to the Republicans who were as overjoyed as I was (for different reasons, of course) by Sarah Palin’s nomination to the McCain ticket last year, Green Apple is donating 100% of the profits from sales of Sarah Palin’s Going Rogue: An American Life to the Alaska Wildlife Alliance.”

Founded in 1978, the AWA is the only group in Alaska solely dedicated to the protection of Alaska’s wildlife. That means wolves, bears, and other animals that were consistently under threat under Palin’s tenure as Governor of Alaska. We can’t think of a better way to offset this book — and commend Green Apple for not just going rogue, but being “mavericks.”

Dear Hollywood: Congratulations! You’re getting to Sarah Palin. Actually, some specific congrats to Ashley Judd — who was vaguely referenced by the now-former Alaskan Governor during her “goodbye” speech on Sunday for her work with Defenders of Wildlife to ban aerial wolf hunting.

“…You’re going to see anti-hunting, anti-second amendment circuses from Hollywood and here’s how they do it,” Palin said. “They use these delicate, tiny, very talented celebrity starlets, they use Alaska as a fundraising tool for their anti-second amendment causes. Stand strong, and remind them patriots will protect our guaranteed, individual right to bear arms, and by the way, Hollywood needs to know, we eat, therefore we hunt.”

Of course, The Daily Show couldn’t let Palin get away with those inane comments. Check out the hilarity below:

In fact, Palin has been very active on the social media site — especially when it comes to bears. Just yesterday, she posted the following streams of thought:

1st: Great day w/bear management wildlife biologists; much to see in wild territory incl amazing creatures w/mama bears’ gutteral raw instinct to

2nd: protect & provide for her young; She sees danger? She brazenly rises up on strong hind legs, growls Don’t Touch My Cubs & the species survives

3rd: & mama bear doesn’t look 2 anyone else 2 hand her anything; biologists say she works harder than males, is provider/protector for the future

Sure, America would love to see the things Palin has seen — preferably as something other than couch accessories. Jason Linkins of The Huffington Post did a great job analyzing Palin’s tweets so the rest of us could understand their true subtext; but it’s his parting comments that made me chuckle: “Anyway, in response to all of the attention they have received, all the bears quit their jobs today.” Zing!

Sarah Palin made a surprising announcement today that she is resigning as Governor of the state of Alaska. According to the Huffington Post, Palin made a brief statement saying that she will not run for re-election and that her resignation will be effective in a couple of weeks. In perfect form, she refused to answer any questions.

What we’re not certain of (as well as everyone else in the media) is why Palin is ending her term as Governor early instead of waiting until 2010. Speculation is now rampant that she will seek the Republican party presidential nomination for 2012 — granted, if she can’t handle being Governor, what kind of chance does she stand as a President? Good luck with attempting to convince us otherwise.

Ever the nightmare for wildlife conservation in Alaska, the resignation of Palin raises hopes that the state will do away with cruel campaigns such as shooting wolves from airplanes. One thing’s for certain: this unfortunately will not be the last we hear of her. But go ahead and celebrate anyways — it’s a good day for wildlife in Alaska.

It’s getting harder and harder for Tina Fey to drop the spirit of Sarah Palin.

The popular actress and former-SNL alum rode a wave of popularity last year with her impression of former Republican Vice-Presidential nominee, Governor Sarah Palin. Unfortunately, since the party’s defeat in November, friends say Fey has had a hard time giving up the act. “She absolutely threw herself into that role,” said one source. “You have absolutely no idea how soul crushing it is to pretend to be in Palin’s shoes. There were moments when I would discover her listening to Rush Limbaugh while simultaneously watching FOX News with the volume off. I even found literature for the creationist musuem in Kentucky in the back seat of hew new Ford F-150 pickup truck — and Tina hates trucks!”

Even with the success and popularity of her hit TV Show 30 Rock, friends say Fey just isn’t happy. “She’s generally a very bubbly, open-minded person,” said production designer Reily Wilkes, “but lately she’s constantly bitching about Obama and doodling “2012″ all over the set. I’ve had to clean the ladies bathroom mirror four time already because of pitbulls drawn with lipstick. It’s seriously getting old.”

Friends close to Fey say they’re now being forced to take drastic action in the wake of her announcement that she’s planning to aerially hunt wolves next week in Alaska. “We need to cleanse Tina’s soul before it’s too late,” said Ashley Judd. “I’ve fought long and hard to stop the real Sarah Palin from causing more damage to Alaska’s wildlife. I’m not sure the world can seriously handle two of them.”

When asked for comment, Tina Fey simply winked at us, went “pew! pew!” with her fingers, and flashed us her new “Real Women Hunt Moose” canvas tote.

It’s worth noting that today is April 1st.

After her successful work in drawing attention to Sarah Palin’s aerial wolf hunting policies in Alaska, actress Ashley Judd is now teaming up with the Sierra Club to ask the Obama Administration to step in and protect the mountains, streams and people of Appalachia from mountaintop removal.

As we wrote last month, Judd recently spoke at a rally organized by Kentuckians For The Commonwealth. “I grew up in Kentucky, and like so many Appalachians, just seeing our beautiful mountains and valleys tells me I am home,” she said. “Our mountains are our heritage and our legacy to future generations. But big coal companies are using explosives to literally blow the tops off the mountains, extract the coal and destroy Appalachia.”

According to the EPA, the damage is pretty gruesome. Close to 2,000 miles of streams have been contaminated or destroyed by mountaintop removal, and communities throughout the Appalachian region suffer daily from contaminated drinking water, increased flooding, and a decimated landscape. The Sierra Club is urging people to become involved by visiting their website and signing a letter to the Obama administration voicing your protest. The goal is 20,000 signatures.

No one in their right mind would ever let Sarah Palin have the last word — which is why Ashley Judd and Rodger Schlickeisen, president of the Defenders of Wildlife Action Fund, appeared on Larry King Live Friday evening to clear the air over the Governor’s latest comments. Here are some highlights:

No one in their right mind would ever let Sarah Palin have the last word — which is why Ashley Judd and Rodger Schlickeisen, president of the Defenders of Wildlife Action Fund, appeared on Larry King Live Friday evening to clear the air over the Governor’s latest comments. Here are some highlights:

KING: You want all wolves, no killing ever of wolves, Ashley?

JUDD: Oh, of course not, Larry. First, how do you do? Thank you so much for having us on the show. What is really important is to maintain a healthy and natural ecological balance between predators and prey. And allowing wealthy humans, primarily urban hunters or those who are bounty hunters from out of state, to go to Alaska and for sport hire airplanes, hire private pilots to fly around and kill wolves in this incredibly savage manner, it’s not right. It is not ethical. It is not appropriate. It doesn’t make sense on any level.

KING: What about people that say to you, Ashley, you don’t live in Alaska? So there is 400 wolves, so what?

JUDD: Well, I think that in terms of — my response to that, Ghandi said it best: we know everything we need to know about a society by seeing how it treats its animals. And this is a conservation issue more than it is particularly an animal rights issue. And it matters to me because, as I said at the top, it is wrong on so many levels. I think what I find particularly galling in the governor’s statement is that somehow this is interfering with poor rural Alaskan’s ability to subsistence hunt. That is a distortion. In fact, there is a native tribe in the area who applied to be able to expand their subsistence hunting and she said no. This is for urban hunters. It’s for trophy hunters from out of state. And in terms of managing the population of caribou, hello, wolves do that best. That’s why the natives honor them as the animal that keeps genetic populations healthy.

KING: OK, Ashley, what do you make of that? (Referring to Elizabeth Hasselbeck’s recent comments on The View)

JUDD: What I make, Larry, is that we are in a transition period in our country, where we are figuring out that we can actually care about multiple things at once. And the archaic debate between the environment and the economy is just that, archaic and over. It’s done. It’s rigid, black and white, all or nothing thinking. We know now, by virtue of great thinkers like Van Jones, who wrote the “Green Collar Economy,” that we can solve our two biggest problems at once, the environment and the energy crisis.

We can fight poverty and pollution at the same time. These things go hand in glove. Caring about human rights, caring about conservation, of course they fit together naturally. Look at Rwanda, stress on the environment, competition for resources due to overpopulation, genocide. It all works together. So it doesn’t — it’s not an either/or conversation anymore.

As Ecorazzi previously reported, Sarah Palin is back in Alaska advocating for the aerial killing of wolves and Ashley Judd is NOT happy about it.

Judd released a PSA for the Defenders of Wildlife Action Fund, speaking out against such killings and condemning Palin for supporting the brutal “sport.”

Well the ladies of The View had a lot to say about all of this (let’s be honest — the ladies of The View have a lot to say about everything). Of course Elisabeth Hasselbeck, who was a supporter of Palin during the election, had some critical words for Judd. About the video Elisabeth said:

“The problem that I have here is like a lot of these vocal celebrities, in a way, get very loud about these animal killings. Like is she loud as..she said, ‘How many wolves have been killed? 900 this year.’ Is she as loud about the 260,000 kids killed in abortions?”

REALLY, Elisabeth…REALLY? You’re gonna go there? Check out the video below and let us know what YOU think about Hasselbeck’s comments.

Ashley Judd is speaking out in a new ad campaign for Defenders of Wildlife Action Fund on Sarah Palin’s “anti-conservation agenda” and attack on wolves and bears. “Now back in Alaska, Palin is again casting aside science and championing the slaughter of wildlife,” Judd says. “Palin even proposed a $150 bounty for the severed foreleg of each killed wolf. And now she is encouraging even more aerial killing. it is time to stop Sarah Palin and stop this senseless savagery.”

In conjunction with the video, the organization has also launched the site EyeOnPalin.org — which follows the Governor’s crusade against wildlife. On another related note, the Huffington Post featured an article today which showed a majority of Republicans wish the party was more like Sarah Palin. Holy sh*t — what the hell is wrong with you people?! Check out the Judd video below:
