In a new video, Silverman unveils her plan to sell the Vatican and raise cash for the poor. She says:

“What is the Vatican worth? Like 500 billion dollars? This is great! Sell the Vatican, take a big chunk of that money, build a gorgeous condominium for you and all of your friends to live in — all the amenities: swimming pool, tennis court, water slide. And with the money leftover, feed the whole fu^&%@ world. You preach to live humbly and I totally agree, so now maybe it’s time for you to move out of your house that is a city. On an ego level alone you will be the biggest hero in the history of ever. ”

Is it that time again already?

It seems like we were just writing about last year’s Ante Up For Africa — the celebrity-saturated poker tournament co-founded by actor Don Cheadle to help raise some much needed cash for the crisis in Darfur.

This past Thursday, 138 players (including some professionals) joined celebs like Sarah Silverman, Matt Damon, Ben Affleck, Jason Alexander, Nelly, Cedric the Entertainer, Herschel Walker, Charles Barkley, Dean Cain and Brad Garrett. For the first time, ESPN carried the event — which should shed even more light on this important cause.

“Three years ago we founded Ante Up for Africa, a charity to raise money for relief efforts in Darfur through poker events. When we founded the charity we approached Jeffrey Pollack, the Commissioner of the World Series of Poker, who was so enthusiastic about the cause that he jumped in with both feet and had the WSOP partner with us. AUFA became an official WSOP event and our first year we raised $700K. Before Thursday our charity had raised $2.1m for the Darfuri people.”

Nick Lachey will be hosting the third annual Tacoma All-Star Celebrity Weekend September 21-22 to support the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) at Tacoma General Hospital and the Mary Bridge Children’s Hospital Parenting Partnership Program (say that one three times fast). So far $1.4 million has been raised for these charities in the past; this year Nick and Sarah Larson, Ryan Stiles, Vanessa Minnillo and other celebs will be playing softball at Cheney Stadium in hopes of raising even more.

The Detroit Red Wings are hosting the Ilitch Charities Celebrity Golf Classic today. Tim Allen, Dave Coulier, John Cusack, Cuba Gooding Jr., Thorsten Kaye, John McGinley, D.B. Sweeney and others will be playing to support Ilitch Charities, which supports community programs in community development, human services, education and recreation. 

Ben Affleck, Seth Meyers, Paul Rudd and Sarah Silverman will be playing at the PPA’s “Poker in the Ballpark” charity tournament tomorrow in support of the Paralyzed Veterans of America. Wait, check out that lineup again. I would love to be a fly on the wall to just hear the conversations between these people. Can you imagine?

Australian singer and soap star Imogen says it’s nice to be sexy for a cause. “One of the funny things about doing PETA work and other campaigns and then doing a lot of mens’ mag stuff is that I’ve always had this internal debate. Am I being a powerful female or, as some people might think, objectifying myself to men? But it’s been nice to do some sexy images that have a strong message.”

The latest in line comes from sexy vegetarian Regina Russell who invited a couple of her friends to star with her in the new video. With the help of the totally crush-worthy Hal Sparks and Scott Baio’s smarmy friend Johnny V, Regina sings about her desire to get it on with Brad Garrett. Yes, that Brad Garrett.

Although the video will keep you giggling, the best part comes at 3:59 in when Regina stands up and turns around to proudly display the words “STOP PUPPY MILLS” on the back of her shirt.

Regina Russell has partnered with The Humane Society of The United States and recruits celebrities to do PSAs for animal issues and to lend their names to support ballot initiatives. In fact, Brad Garrett has done PSAs for HSUS and that was before Regina admitted to wanting to f*ck him.

Somebody should show this to Barack Obama before he buys a puppy.

After an only mildly successful stint as the host of the Oscars, Stewart is putting on his master of ceremonies hat (it’s blue with feathers) once again for the second Night of Too Many Stars: An Overbooked Benefit for Autism Education.

The celebrity infused fundraiser will help raise money for schools and educational programs for autistic children and adults. The last benefit was held in October of 2006 and raised more than $2.6 billion. THAT IS NOT A TYPO PEOPLE!!! 2.6 BILLION!!!!! [Ed note: Actually, that is a typo. $2.6 billion? The sourced article was a bit too generous, though we'd love to believe it true. Actual amount was $2.5 million.]

This year the Night of Too Many Stars: An Overbooked Benefit for Autism Education will take place on April 13th at the Beacon Theater in New York and will also air live on Comedy Central at 8 pm EST. You can expect performances by Will Ferrell, Steve Carell, Adam Sandler, Tina Fey, Stephen Colbert, Conan O’Brien, Sarah Silverman and Amy Poehler. And appearances by Jonah Hill, Matthew Broderick, Kevin James, Rosie O’Donnell and Susie Essman.

After performing at the Rio De Janeiro leg of Live Earth, rocker Lenny Kravitz almost decided not to come home. The musician planned on staying for a week, but ended up living for four months on a remote farm. Said Kravitz, “There was no stress, less time spent on decisions. Pink may have led the media blitz, but musician Chrissie Hynde led the rally for a PETA protest in Central Park to encourage tourists not to support the carriage-horse industry. “I got hitched to Jim Kerr (Simple Minds) in a horse drawn carriage in New York. The marriage didn’t last and I hope the carriages meet the same fate.” [via PETA]

Finally, this is not green — but I found it hilarious. Comedian Sarah Silverman gave significant other Jimmy Kimmel a video-gift for the 5-year anniversary of his Jimmy Kimmel Live show. For those that don’t know, there’s a running joke on the show where Matt Damon is continuously insulted in various, creative ways. Let’s just say, Matt has had the last laugh. Check it out here.
