A couple weeks ago, Stone Gossard — guitarist for Peal Jam — took part in a tree-planting event, along with 200 other activists in Boston. The campaign, called “Dig It“, is all part of a Timberland-sponsored multi-city eco initiative to bring artists and activists together to celebrate the environment and music.

This part Saturday, Gossard was in Los Angeles for another leg of the Dig It tour. Partners The Timberland Company, national tree planting partner American Forests, and Los Angeles tree planting partner North East Trees facilitated the planting of 250 trees and removal of graffiti at the William Mead Housing Facility in downtown L.A. with the help of 200 volunteers.

After the planting, Stone rocked out at the Wilbur Theatre. “It’s a good fit. I get to play some shows and also raise awareness about a project I’m excited about,” he said.

“Dig It,” the Timberland-sponsored multi-city eco initiative, is brining artists and activists together to celebrate the environment and music (what could be better than that combo?). Yesterday was only the first of these tree-planting, song-loving events.
