l7826953993_7835.jpgAs biodiesel trailers carrying eco-conscious rock stars and  film industry gurus embark on Austin, Texas for the the annual SXSW Film, Interactive, and Music festival, they will be singing a new “sustainability” tune.  In an effort to promote its carbon neutral policy, event organizers are taking tangible action to proposed initiatives of years past.

The SXSW Festival is working with Ecology Action of Austin to recycle all waste from our outdoor parties and events and will use biodiesel in generators and production trucks. We’ve got our name on a waiting list to purchase green electricity from Austin Energy’s Green Choice Power Program and are supporting the Austin Convention Center in its goal to achieve Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design Certification by 2008.

Always an eclectic event where geeks, film freaks, and music madness converge, SXSW 2008 definitely will have some good gossip in store. Stay tuned for the latest green insight.
